In a bizarre incident in Bengaluru, a family allegedly packed an elderly man inside a sack and attempted to “courier” him as part of a social media stunt, police said.

The incident took place under the Vyalikaval police station limits, where five family members—including a woman, her husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law—arrived at a courier office carrying a large package on Tuesday.

Shocking Discovery

Courier staff grew suspicious when the family refused to disclose the contents of the package. Upon opening it, they were shocked to find the woman’s father inside the sack. Sources said the elderly man appeared distressed and was struggling to breathe.

Stunt for Social Media

The family later claimed the act was intended to film a reel highlighting travel difficulties during the festive season of Ugadi and Ramzan, suggesting that “couriering a person” was the only option due to unavailability of bus tickets.

Despite being confronted, the family reportedly argued with staff and insisted that the parcel be accepted.

Police Action

Police were alerted and took the family into custody for questioning. They were later let off with a stern warning after recording an apology video, admitting their actions were irresponsible.

Officials cautioned against such dangerous stunts for social media attention.
