00:00And who's your breakout star?
00:01I got River Ryan.
00:03I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Dodgers right-hander.
00:06Oldest rookie, like it feels like ever.
00:08Oldest prospect ever on our top 100.
00:10I don't think there will ever be an older prospect ranked on our top 100.
00:15But that shows you, like, this guy's going to be 28 years old in August,
00:18and he's still on our top 100 list because I think the six years
00:21that you're going to get a team control here are going to be so darn good.
00:24I think this guy's floor is a back-end starter,
00:26but I think we're going to see more flashes of a middle rotation arm
00:29from River Ryan this year.
00:31I mean, in spring training, he has looked fully, fully healthy coming off of TJ.
00:36Part of the reason why he's such an old prospect is because he's been
00:38kind of dealing with some of those arm issues before finally, you know,
00:42succumbing to the Tommy John surgery.
00:43I think he's going to come out the other side stronger
00:45and just overall looking better, and I think he has from that.
00:48It's a plus to baby, plus, plus heater in the upper 90s with good shape,
00:52a hard slider at 88 to 91, and then a cutter in between that at 93, 94,
00:58a curveball, a changeup, a sinker.
01:00He can attack you with all of these different pitches.
01:03He's a converted infielder from college.
01:05Another reason why he's so old is it was a late change.
01:08He's so athletic on the mound.
01:10He's obviously in a great organization to maximize that,
01:12and with the way that the Dodgers like to pace their rotation
01:16with some of their big guys that they like to throw, you know,
01:18and be ready full bore in the postseason,
01:20I think River Ryan's going to get a lot of innings this year
01:23during the regular season,
01:24and I think he's going to play a big part in carrying them
01:27through that regular season.
01:28Do you think that it will be both him and a pitcher like Emmett Sheehan
01:33getting a lot of run?
01:34Do you think that Emmett Sheehan could, you know,
01:36take away right when Blake Snell comes back from his injury
01:39and Roki Sasaki's in the rotation?
01:41There doesn't seem to be a lot of spots for him,
01:44so to warrant a breakout,
01:46all I'm concerned with is the amount of innings,
01:49because I totally agree with you on talent.
01:51Yeah, I think Sasaki is going to give up that rotation spot
01:54relatively early.
01:55I really do.
01:56I hope I'm wrong.
01:57I just don't see it.
01:59I think they're going to put him back in the bullpen and say,
02:00hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
02:02Let's roll with this for now,
02:03and we can always revisit it another time,
02:05but we got a guy in River Ryan throwing the ball way too well,
02:08which he has continued to do so through spring training as well,
02:1112 punchouts and nine and two-thirds innings
02:12is only allowed two earned runs.
02:14Roki's looked the complete opposite.
02:16I think he ends up taking that Roki spot,
02:18and him and Sheehan throw.
02:19I think Sheehan can also be a breakout guy.
02:22Yeah, we only, we have about a minute left here,
02:25and I guess I would be totally fine if I was a Dodger fan
02:31or if I was even in the Dodgers front office
02:33and Roki Sasaki just became Yohan Duran, right?
02:36A lockdown closer with that incredible splitter
02:39and his velocity can play up in one inning spurts.
02:42It already worked.
02:43It's not like they signed Yoshinobu Yamamoto
02:46when they moved him to the bullpen.
02:47Yeah, exactly.
02:47$325 million.
02:50This was not an expensive deal,
02:52so it is not a bad thing if Roki just develops into a lockdown closer.
02:57Also, if Tanner Scott doesn't bounce back,
03:01they would actually need Roki Sasaki,
03:04and Sasaki has to have so much confidence
03:06after dominating in the playoffs in this role
03:10so he can fit in so nicely.
03:13It fits like a glove.
03:14So for me, I totally agree with you.
03:16I think it's going to be one of these Dodger starters
03:19that takes the leap and ultimately fills into that rotation.
