00:00Ok, per questo build.
00:02Cos'è credo che...
00:03...the footage they showed last year...
00:06So I didn't realize it cut to gameplay.
00:08How seamless that was.
00:10Wow, that was seamless.
00:11You're just standing there.
00:13This demo is taking a long time to start.
00:15Con or do something.
00:18So this is one of our playable characters in Detroi Become Human.
00:22I shouldn't say one of our characters.
00:23Like I made the game.
00:25But, let's be clear.
00:26I'm not with Quantic Dream.
00:27Ci sono stati molte caratteristiche.
00:58I love the way that the objective just kind of appeared on the window like that.
01:03Yeah, that was really nice.
01:04I mean, Quantic Dream are kind of masters of UI, and they like to keep the presentation
01:09really slick.
01:10Yeah, they do a good job implementing the environment into the way that they use their
01:15user interface.
01:15Yeah, absolutely.
01:17Absolutely.
01:18All right, so someone's just...
01:19Oh.
01:20All right.
01:21Fine.
01:21Oh, let's talk to Captain Allen.
01:22Okay.
01:23Denied.
01:24All right.
01:25It's like, sir, you have to talk to the Captain.
01:29All right, so what do we got over here?
01:32This is very official.
01:34Captain Allen, my name is Connor.
01:36I don't think any of us can hear what's being said, so Justin, I sure hope you know what
01:41choices to make.
01:41I'm trying to imagine what they're saying right now.
01:45Well, they look really serious in the environment.
01:47Things seem to be going well so far.
01:49Right.
01:49I don't know if that's true, because there is still a hostage situation.
01:54See, so let's ask for the Deviant's name.
01:58Deviant's name.
01:58Do you know its name?
02:00I haven't got a clue.
02:01There we go.
02:01We can hear it a little bit better now.
02:02I need information to determine the best approach.
02:06Justin, I think this is going to have to be by instinct in this playthrough.
02:12Every choice counts, man.
02:13Every choice.
02:14It really does.
02:15And I mean, that's one of the cool things about Detroit and also the other games that
02:19the Quantic Dream does is that so much of it is controlled by you, the player, all through
02:26the story.
02:26I mean, especially in previous games like Heavy Rain, characters can live or die depending
02:31on what you do.
02:32Yeah.
02:33Everything has ramifications, consequences.
02:36Some things will make the game easier if you do it the correct way, too.
02:40This?
02:41This?
02:41Oh, God.
02:42I love their UI.
02:43So good.
02:44I just want to see it all the time.
02:46I wonder how much time they spend actually making the animations for just the subtle things.
02:51This tiny little stuff.
02:52Yeah, yeah.
02:52That's one of the great things about game design is it's a giant orchestra of tiny details,
02:58right?
02:58Yeah.
02:58And it's just all these little things that you have to do.
03:01Justin is just trying to reconstruct calculations.
03:04I do not know.
03:06I'm so glad I'm not playing because I have no idea what's going on.
03:09Oh, here we go.
03:10There's some other stuff over here.
03:11You're collecting data.
03:12This looks important.
03:13Analyzing the ammunition.
03:15So we're going to reconstruct what happened here.
03:17Oh.
03:20Oh, and use the L2 and R2.
03:23Oh, that's cool.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Oh, wow.
03:24Oh, okay.
03:27So he's kind of like getting an idea of where.
03:29Yeah, I see.
03:31That's cool.
03:32Oh.
03:34If only he had that special little, those special glasses that I got, the guy from
03:38from Heavy Rain, the detective from Heavy Rain, make this way easier for him.
03:42I'm pretty sure he has those glasses built into his face.
03:46Yeah.
03:46Because this is, yeah.
03:47So as we gather more data, you'll see the probability of success is rising.
03:55Like somebody had an entertaining party.
03:59Yeah, this is when the party goes too far and real emotions are running high.
04:06Hmm.
04:06Something bad happened here.
04:07Oh, okay.
04:08Well, I maybe shouldn't have made light of this because this got really serious.
04:12Yeah.
04:13So for all you watching at home, Quantic Dream does not mess around.
04:17Right.
04:17These are very serious games for, you know, with adult subject matter.
04:21Right, yeah.
04:22So definitely not those with a queasy stomach.
04:26And that's what I really like about Quantic Dream.
04:28You know, they don't pull any punches.
04:29Yeah.
04:30No, they definitely go there.
04:32Right, right.
04:32Yeah, totally.
04:33And it just makes it feel more organic.
04:34It makes it feel more real.
04:35And it makes everything feel just a little bit more intense.
04:39It makes you really reconsider every choice that you make.
04:42Because you're like, oh man, this character that I really love could be a character that's
04:46on the ground lifeless if I don't do this right.
04:49Yeah.
04:49And that was a really chilling.
04:52Yeah.
04:52Yeah.
04:52I mean, it's really crazy.
04:54Being able, this is kind of like the ultimate detective game, right?
04:57Especially when you're playing as this character.
04:59It's Connor, right?
05:00Am I remembering the name of this character correctly?
05:03Yeah.
05:03Justin says I'm right.
05:05Malik says I'm right.
05:06So I must be right.
05:09Justin, what do you think so far?
05:11You seem like for someone that's never touched this game, you're getting along just fine.
05:15Yeah, yeah.
05:15I'm figuring it out.
05:17Yeah, it seems pretty intuitive.
05:18I really like the whole crime scene reconstruction mechanic that we're dealing with here.
05:25There we go, probability higher.
05:26But of course, this is just one of the characters that you're playing in Detroit,
05:30which means, you know, you're going to get different story and different gameplay elements
05:34depending on the other characters.
05:35Right.
05:35Like the Marcus demo from last night.
05:37That was so cool.
05:38Let's talk about that.
05:38That was super cool and very different.
05:41This is much more methodical and calculated.
05:43Yeah.
05:43The Marcus stuff.
05:44Well, it has some of those elements that seem like there's a lot of action, a lot of intensity.
05:49Right.
05:49You know, he's an android revolutionary.
05:51He's actually on the other side.
05:53He's more of an activist, you know?
05:54Yeah, exactly.
05:54Which I found to be very interesting because the character, you know, looks like Jesse Williams,
05:58who is an activist.
06:00But it was cool because, you know, you had the choice to be violent or to be more peaceful
06:05with all the robots that you had teaming up with you.
06:07So, yeah, that was really cool.
06:10And let's talk about the other character, too.
06:12Yeah, please.
06:12We can't forget about Kara.
06:13Yeah, absolutely.
06:14She kind of kicked this whole thing off.
06:15Yeah, with the, you know, kind of the original proof of concept and tech demo.
06:20The Kara trailer.
06:21So, that feels like years ago.
06:23I don't even remember when that trailer came out.
06:25I remember everybody was losing their minds like, this has to become a game.
06:27Oh, I know.
06:28Totally.
06:28And that's kind of how Quantic Dream does it, right?
06:30Like, you know, David Cage and his team, they want to try a proof of concept and see what, you
06:34know, the reaction is
06:35and see where they can go with the story.
06:37But then she kind of made her grand re-debut in the Detroit Become Human announcement trailer, I think.
06:45And that's where we got to see a lot of the setting about how this is a, you know, near
06:49future Detroit.
06:51There's been an Android boom.
06:52And now, you know, there's just so much more at stake because there's sort of like this uprising of AI.
06:59Yeah.
06:59You know.
07:02Ah.
07:03All right.
07:03Cool.
07:03Hey, let's turn on some subtitles.
07:06Yeah.
07:06Good call.
07:07Good call.
07:07Yeah.
07:08And I feel like I'm missing out.
07:09There we go.
07:10Boom.
07:10There we go.
07:11I think I got it.
07:12It's almost as if we should have done that at the beginning.
07:15Yeah.
07:15I was like, what's a way to mitigate us not understanding what's going on with all the excitement, the
07:19E3 excitement around us.
07:23Yeah.
07:23This looks very important.
07:24I wish I had an iPad like that.
07:26You can see right through it.
07:27Cool.
07:27Swipe the touchpad to interact, Justin.
07:29That's cool.
07:29I'll do one of these.
07:31Nice.
07:32It's just going to make me depressed.
07:36It's like, what a way to kick off E3 2017 with a crime scene investigation.
07:41I mean, I don't think this is meant to be an especially happy game.
07:44No.
07:44I mean, as we said, Quantic Dream doesn't mess around.
07:50I've got some more information.
07:51But, yeah, Malik, like what we were saying, you know, that announcement trailer showed what
07:54was at stake.
07:55Yeah.
07:55It showed some of the very, you know, very relevant conversations that this game is having
08:01in the community, which is sort of like, what is the meaning of AI?
08:04Yeah.
08:05How does that AI fit in with the larger picture of humanity and its interaction with AI?
08:10Indeed, indeed.
08:11These are the big questions that I could not possibly answer by myself.
08:14Right.
08:14Well, and it's kind of cool, too, because it's also a contrast on just humanity, you know,
08:20because the AI is kind of like, well, why is humanity the way humanity is?
08:24It looks like something just happened there.
08:26All right.
08:27Oh, no.
08:29So this was a first responder, huh?
08:34Oof.
08:35More gory details.
08:39So Justin is assessing for clues.
08:46Very nice.
08:47Very nice.
08:48Very nice.
08:49Okay.
08:50Now he's reconstructing the scene.
08:53Let's see what happened.
08:57Oh.
08:59Oh, man.
09:01There it is.
09:03That's brutal.
09:04I've shot the deviant.
09:06Okay.
09:06Okay.
09:07All right.
09:08What's over here?
09:10Hostage witness the shooting.
09:11Oh.
09:14Okay.
09:14We're starting to understand how this all went down.
09:16Yeah.
09:16Something over there.
09:17Weapon located.
09:18Okay.
09:20Justin, you were saying also that your percentage of success was changing.
09:26I didn't see that.
09:27Oh, it's right there.
09:27There it is.
09:28All right, dude.
09:29Well, you got 58%.
09:31You wanted to try and you should just jump out onto the balcony and just go for it at 58.
09:38No, we still got a little time.
09:46That's a cool statue.
09:47Yeah.
09:47It is really nice.
09:49Maybe not relevant to the case though.
09:51Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:53Still looking, still looking.
09:54I think there was something.
09:56Justin, I'm getting stressed out, man.
09:58Yeah.
09:58Sorry, I'm trying to.
09:59Can I just go outside?
10:00Because I know what's going to happen when I go outside.
10:03I'm just trying to prolong it.
10:04I don't want to go outside.
10:05Well, what's really cool about scenes like this, when you're investigating, you're also
10:08kind of taking in the environment.
10:10Yeah.
10:10And you see how much detail they put into these games and into these environments and
10:14to these apartments, you know?
10:15Yeah.
10:16Again, it's like another specialty Aquanic Dream, right?
10:19Yeah.
10:19is that it's all those attention to detail.
10:21Yeah, man.
10:21And it makes their games feel more real.
10:23And that's one of the things that they're trying to do is make this feel like real characters,
10:27real people, real stories.
10:29Okay.
10:29I think I'm going to.
10:29I mean, these are stories that could very well be happening, you know?
10:32Right.
10:3220, 30, 50 years from now, right?
10:35Right.
10:35So it's just, it's wild to think about.
10:38I think Justin is contemplating when he wants to walk out.
10:41Want to go out now?
10:42To the balcony.
10:43There we go.
10:45Analyze a little more.
10:47Eww.
10:50Fresh blue blood.
10:51Android wounded.
10:53Uh-oh.
10:53Good to know.
10:54Oh, he can tell what model it is based on the taste of its blood.
10:58This dude is such a badass.
11:02I love it.
11:03Wait, did your percentage just go down, Justin?
11:05It didn't?
11:06It was 56, wasn't it?
11:07Oh, no.
11:08I think you should just go outside.
11:09Okay, let's go for it.
11:11Oh.
11:11Oh, no.
11:13What the fuck are you doing?
11:16Not for children.
11:21Go for it, Justin.
11:22This is it.
11:23Alright, here we go.
11:24We can do this.
11:25Nice and easy.
11:26Alright, let's do this.
11:26I need your support, guys.
11:28Oh, no.
11:29Stay back.
11:30Okay, I found him.
11:31Don't come any closer or I'll jump.
11:33No, no, please.
11:34I'm begging you.
11:36Alright, take it easy.
11:38No, no, no.
11:42Take it easy.
11:43I'm so stressed.
11:45Hi, Daniel.
11:47My name is Connor.
11:48Alright.
11:50I know a lot of things about you.
11:52I've come to get you out of this.
11:58Oh, no.
11:59Oh, dear.
11:59Oh, dear.
12:00Helicopter, no.
12:00Go away.
12:02Helicopter, you're ruining everything.
12:04Oh, I can move.
12:05He's Spider-Man.
12:05Get the helicopter out of here.
12:09Appetize.
12:09Appetize.
12:10I reassured.
12:12Oh, I can look at him.
12:13Oh, look at the LED on the side of his head.
12:15It's pulsing red.
12:16That's probably not good.
12:17It's too late for that now.
12:19I'm assuming that means anger, maybe?
12:21Probably.
12:22I'm assuming it means it's up to no good.
12:24Right.
12:24I know you and Emma were very close.
12:27You think she betrayed you, but she's done nothing wrong.
12:30Oh, man.
12:31There's another body in there.
12:32Oh, my God.
12:33I can't take this, Justin.
12:35There's too much drama in this scene.
12:38She's just like all the other humans.
12:41Daniel, no.
12:48Get that.
12:48Yep.
12:49Okay.
12:50All right.
12:50All right.
12:51It's not your fault.
12:52Okay.
12:53These emotions you're feeling are just errors in your software.
12:56No.
12:58Please.
12:59Oh, he's stabilizing.
13:00Please.
13:01Help me.
13:02I love them.
13:04You know?
13:06But I was nothing to them.
13:09Just a slave to be ordered around.
13:11Oh, no.
13:13This is not looking good, guys.
13:15I'm getting stressed.
13:17I'm actually real.
13:18My bombs are sweaty right now.
13:20He's going to die.
13:22All humans die eventually.
13:24Oh, come on.
13:25I don't care if this one dies now.
13:27I'm going to apply a tourniquet.
13:31Don't touch him.
13:33Touch him and I kill you.
13:36Oh, no.
13:37Oh, my God.
13:38I'm not alive.
13:42Cold-blooded.
13:43Oh, he's destabilizing.
13:44Oh, he's destabilizing.
13:44You're going to destabilize.
13:46Justin, I can't take this.
13:49I need backup.
13:52Easy.
13:53Are you okay, Emma?
13:55Please help me.
13:57I don't want to die.
13:58I don't want to die.
13:59Oh, man.
13:59This is so intense.
14:00Yeah.
14:01Especially when you have kids.
14:03Yeah.
14:03Seeing kids in danger, it's a little harder to watch.
14:06This would normally just be like, oh, whoa, this is so crazy.
14:10Right, right.
14:10But I'm like all jittery now from watching this.
14:13Get out of here.
14:17This equation is under control.
14:19All right.
14:20All right.
14:21Good call, Justin.
14:22Good call.
14:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
14:23Good call.
14:23All right.
14:24We're going up.
14:26All right.
14:26Did we want it?
14:27We're going up.
14:28The percentage is increasing.
14:31You have to trust me, Daniel.
14:33Let the hostage go and I promise you,
14:35everything will be fine.
14:38Okay.
14:38That's good.
14:39Yep.
14:39We're going up.
14:39And everyone to leave.
14:43And I want a car.
14:44All right.
14:45When I'm outside the city, I'll let her go.
14:46Yep.
14:47Let her go.
14:48I don't know.
14:49I would say compromise.
14:51That's impossible, Daniel.
14:52Let the girl go and I promise you'll be hurt.
14:54Oh, it's yellow now.
14:57Okay.
14:57All right.
14:58Destabilizing.
14:59That's good.
15:02Yep.
15:04Hmm.
15:06We're not going to die.
15:07We're just going to talk.
15:09Yeah.
15:09Nice.
15:10Okay.
15:10I'm feeling so much better about this.
15:13Yeah.
15:13I think we're going to save her.
15:14Please, please, please.
15:16Let's let the little kid go.
15:17All right.
15:18We trust you.
15:19All right.
15:19All right.
15:20Good.
15:20He let her go.
15:21Go over there.
15:22All right.
15:22Good.
15:24Okay.
15:25Oh.
15:26No.
15:27Why would you do that, sniper man?
15:28Oh, man.
15:29Oh, man.
15:29We had this under control.
15:33Good lord.
15:35Ah.
15:35We saved the hostage, though.
15:36We saved the hostage, yeah.
15:37I'm thrilled about that.
15:38I just wanted everybody to walk away from this totally fine.
15:41Hey, it was reassure or truth, and he did reassure.
15:44He didn't say truth.
15:45Yes.
15:45Yeah.
15:45Yeah.
15:47Yikes.
15:48Sorry, Daniel.
15:49Well, anyway, Quantic Dream, thanks for killing my mood this morning.
15:53Nice uplifting start to E3.
15:56Welcome to E320.
