00:01PKR Youth has urged private sector employers to implement targeted work-from-home policies
00:06as part of energy-saving measures in view of the impact of the Middle East conflict.
00:12In a statement, PKR Youth Chief Kamil Munim said employees who do not need to be consistently
00:18present at the workplace should be allowed to work from home from time to time.
00:23Kamil, the political secretary to finance minister Anwar Ibrahim, added that employers
00:28should give workers in urban areas flexible work arrangements to help them manage a potential
00:33rise in cost of living. He added that through flexible work arrangements, we can achieve
00:38better work-life balance while reducing operational expenditure and people's daily expenses,
00:44particularly transport costs. He also said the global oil price situation remaining uncertain,
00:51work-from-home is also a strategic instrument to reduce fuel subsidy pressures.
00:56Kamil said private sectors in several nations had already moved in that direction,
01:01including Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, as well as countries in Europe.
