00:00Being in an enclosed space, far from the line of sight of the other barracks, he should have the time
00:06to cross without raising any suspicions for a few days.
00:11Once over the border, Leon continues to explore the region.
00:15The ground is completely black, as if covered by volcanic ashes, and the climate is far colder than that of
00:22Calasinar.
00:23He is surrounded by nothing but dark sand and desolation, overlooked by a matte gray sky.
00:31As he walks in the gloomy landscape, he chances upon a lonely traveler.
00:36The two spot each other from afar, but don't try to avoid that unexpected encounter.
00:42The traveler has a scaly skin and keeps darting out his forked tongue, almost as if he were a snake.
00:50The reptile man stops in front of Leon.
00:54And you are? he asks.
00:57Someone very dangerous, if you get in my way.
01:01A friend, if you choose to trust me.
01:04Your name is...
01:08Leon Munar.
01:10You might have heard of me.
01:12The other doesn't reply.
01:15His eyes open wide, and he falls to his knees, recognizing the truth of the speaker's words.
01:22Taking a better look, you do match my people's description.
01:28Your fame and your past precede you.
01:31I am Therion, your humble servant.
01:36Really?
01:38Everyone knows of the last great wizard, able to dominate the elements.
01:43How did you wind up here?
01:45I have my reasons.
01:47Reasons for which I should kill you for the mere fact you have seen me here.
01:52Or maybe not.
01:55Leon's threat seems to have frightened the other, who shudders trying to find a way out of the situation.
02:01I'm sure you'll find me useful if you spare me.
02:05The wizard seems to mull the comment over, and decides to test his new acquaintance.
02:12I'm looking for the dragon who dwells in these lands.
02:15Do not question me.
02:17Just answer.
02:18I have no time to lose.
02:21You need to proceed north, my lord.
02:24You'll find a pitch-black hill, surrounded by bones.
02:28Inside is the cave where the reptile lives.
02:32How one dare approach it?
02:34If you have spoken the truth, wait for me in the city of Snelphos.
02:39I'll reward you fairly.
02:41If you have lied, I will come looking for you, and I will kill you.
02:46Leon promised.
02:48But how will I pass the border?
02:50It's under surveillance.
02:53Defense post number seven has been freed.
02:56Without adding anything else, the sorcerer resumed his walk to the specified location.
03:03After a few hours by foot, Leon finds the landscape described by the serpent man.
03:08The hill is surrounded only by bones.
03:11The glacial cold is in sharp contrast with the black color of the dragon's lair.
03:17Gripped by a strange awe, Leon musters the courage to penetrate the tunnels.
03:22The direction seems clear.
03:24The nauseating smell comes right from the center of the cave, where a huge, curled-up reptile is resting.
03:32Motionless, blissful in its calm snoring.
03:36This is the moment of truth.
03:38The moment when Leon could find a powerful ally, nearly invincible.
03:42The wizard decides to take one step in the cave, and an eye is soon on him.
03:49The dragon rises abruptly, displaying its full wingspan, taking up the entire den.
03:55A roar and a flame blast explode from his mouth upwards.
03:59The majestic size of the monster is terrifying.
04:03Its 30 feet of height make the man look like an ant.
04:07Scales cover its back, while the belly resembles that of a snake.
04:11Slimey and gross.
04:13Leon's gaze follows the fire breath of the reptile, discovering that the hill's ceiling is hollow,
04:19allowing the animal to come and go as it pleases.
04:23A sort of primordial fear grasps the wizard's heart.
04:27Who, however, is soon able to recover?
04:31He must decide what's to be done, quickly.
04:34The situation can become critical at any moment now.
04:45I shield myself with a water wall from the dragon's first attack.
04:49The water wall he has created shields him from the dragon's flames,
04:53which is shocked by the fact it wasn't able to liquefy him as it usually prays.
04:58Taking advantage of its hesitation,
05:00Leon must decide whether to hurl a volley of water blasts at its head,
05:05so as to knock it out without wounding him,
05:08or block its limbs, summoning roots from the ground.
05:18Leon's idea isn't bad.
05:20The reptile is startled and paralyzed.
05:23Despite its size, the animal can't move.
05:25This allows the wizard to try and enter the dragon's mind.
05:29As he tries this, however, the sorcerer notices that the strength of the beast's paws
05:35is unraveling the cage he has created.
05:37He needs to find another solution
05:39and give up on his current attempt to overpower the dragon's mind.
05:47I summon spikes from the ground as spears.
05:51His play succeeds.
05:53The dragon collapses to the ground, exhausted.
05:56He approaches the reptile and lays a hand on its snorting snout.
06:02Leon starts concentrating as he was taught by the Amorin wizards,
06:06and, thanks to his telepathic ability,
06:09he begins to converse with the now-tamed beast,
06:13conveying the message he's a friend who simply wants to help.
06:18The dragon, confused at first, is soon flattered by the wizard.
06:22After all, it's still just a predator with a devastating size and power,
06:28but with a simple mind.
06:30Despite the power Leon now has over the dragon,
06:34he knows he won't be able to use its talents immediately,
06:38so he decides to head back to complete his mind's design.
06:42Now that he has established a lasting bond to the monster,
06:46he'll be able to call him at his side whenever he shall want.
