00:10.
00:11.
00:11.
00:11I'm Mikey Dowling, the PR Manager here at Obsidian.
00:14We're just two weeks away from the launch of Deadfire on May 8th,
00:17and we're very excited for you to get your hands on the game.
00:21The team's been hard at work finalizing Pillars 2,
00:24and for this update, and we know it's been a while,
00:27we wanted to highlight some of the really cool features that they wanted to share with you.
00:31So enjoy.
00:32Spark Crackers
00:33Spark Crackers are a wonderful minor explosive that can be used to distract NPCs and monsters,
00:38pulling them toward the source of the noise.
00:40Though they won't stay at the location for long,
00:43the brief distraction may be long enough to sneak by them,
00:45or to set up a fireball in the middle of a bunch of explosive barrels,
00:48like lead designer Bobby Knoll does here on his solo playthrough.
00:52Reverse Pickpocketing
00:54Sometimes it's best to start a fight off with a bang.
00:57Because we're all such fans of classic Fallout pranks,
01:00reverse pickpocketing explosives found its way into Deadfire.
01:03Here, area designer John Cotto sneaks up behind an NPC to pickpocket them,
01:07plants a bomb in their coin purse, and walks a safe distance away.
01:11Naming Ships
01:13Although you start out on a humble Deerwodian ship named the Defiant,
01:17you have the ability to rename any of your ships as you see fit.
01:20Thanks to programmer Robbie Altadero's magic,
01:23your ship name will now also appear on the side of your ship as soon as you change it.
01:27Charge
01:28Charge can be devastating on the battlefield,
01:30and gives quick mobility to a class that generally spends a lot of time standing in place,
01:35as QA tester Andy Arch shows off for us.
01:42Naming Islands
01:44Some of the islands in the Deadfire Archipelago have not been given formal names,
01:48even by the local Juana.
01:50If you clear an uncharted island of all of its hazardous, monstrous residents like community manager Eric Dorbella does here,
01:56you'll be able to name the island and see it reflected on the world map.
02:01Voiced Dialogue
02:03He-ekira! What-what a surprise I say!
02:06But no one told me that Envoys of Rawatai landed on Tikawawa!
02:11Spell Retargeting
02:13Don't forget, that target you wanted to cast a spell on move?
02:17Retarget and hit them with all you got!
02:23NPC Animations
02:24The world of Aeora comes to life even more thanks to Zack Spurlock's ambient animations.
02:34Menagerie
02:35This upgrade to your ship allows you to hang out with all the pets you find in the Deadfire.
02:41Broom
02:42Clean up trash mobs with this handy broom.
02:48Talking Sword
02:49But my owner, she was really great. I mean, is really great. Her calluses felt so good on my grip.
03:00Oh, I can do things with a sword you wouldn't believe!
03:04Sea Shanties
03:07Heave away my landry
03:10Big Head Mode
03:12Because Josh Sawyer loves Big Head Mode
03:16Pillars 2 has plenty of hidden gems like the features that we just showed you, and we cannot wait for
03:20you to dive into it when you get to explore the Deadfire Apelago in just two short weeks.
03:25Now we have had a lot of announcements since our last update, and we wanted to make sure that we
03:30shared some of them with you here.
03:31First up, we are doing full VO for every conversation in the game.
03:36This is a huge effort, and it makes a world of a difference when you get to hear it in
03:40action.
03:41Second up, we have our partnership with Critical Role.
03:44Now, we are able to bring in these incredibly talented actors to play key characters in Deadfire, and on top
03:50of that, give a free DLC that allows you to have Vox Machina voice sets and player portraits so you
03:57can create a Vox Machina party on your own.
03:59Third, we have the Deadfire Scavenger Hunt.
04:02You may have seen some codes pop up here and there, so make sure that you go to the site
04:06in the description below so you can redeem those codes and get some awesome loot for Deadfire when it comes
04:10out on May 8th.
04:12Also, be sure to follow our social media channels and subscribe to our YouTube channel so you can get all
04:17further updates for Deadfire between here and launch.
04:20Until next time, watchers.
04:30We'll see you next time.
