00:05Well, we're on the Roscoe off-ramp off the 170 north, which as Samada mentioned is shut down.
00:12You are looking live at the suspect, who police originally were trying to stop on suspicion
00:18of driving under the influence. Police say he didn't want to stop and the pursuit was on.
00:24It was a very short pursuit. He came to a crashing end and then took off running.
00:30Now the off-ramp has been shut down. He ran through the embankment.
00:35He's been seen running through school properties.
00:37We believe right now that rooftop he is on is on the property of L.A. Unified School,
00:42North District headquarters here in Sun Valley.
00:45This is also the site of Byrd Middle School and Francis Polytechnic High School.
00:51We believe the building he is on, again, is part of L.A. Unified School District.
00:55He's been very animated recently. He is talking to officers who you can't see from this perspective.
01:01They are down below, at times, making this extremely sensitive and tense.
01:07He has taken off his T-shirt, tied it around his neck, and then also tied it to a pole,
01:14and that led police to believe he may be thinking about jumping.
01:19He was also seen removing his shoelaces at one point and tying those around his neck.
01:25He has not made any gesture of thinking about jumping, but police aren't taking any chances.
01:31L.A. City Fire paramedics are standing by, and they've also brought out their airbags.
01:36They were going to deploy them below that man should he fall, should he jump to try and protect him.
01:43They've also called out their mental health specialists, their smart unit who will negotiate with him,
01:49will try to talk to him and convince him to give himself up safely.
01:54But again, if you're just joining us here on Good Day L.A., a suspect originally wanted on suspicion of

02:02is now on the roof of a school building here in Sun Valley, refusing to come down.
