00:00Bob, let's get ready for the upcoming season here.
00:02These guys will go back to camp here.
00:04And just some questions here that we have with some of the teams.
00:07You think the Blue Jays had a bat?
00:11I mean, they could be.
00:13I think it's almost a toss-up, three-way toss-up between Blue Jays,
00:17Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers.
00:19They're not going to rule out the Yankees.
00:22You know, the Red Sox can surprise too.
00:24But it's close.
00:25I would have loved them a lot more if they got Kyle Tucker.
00:28Still, you know, they lost Bichette.
00:29So, still a very, very good team.
00:32You know, it's great to be in the AL East because you survive the AL East.
00:36You can beat up anybody.
00:39How about adding an arm for the Orioles?
00:41You think they add an arm?
00:43They've made a lot of moves, Bob, this offseason, as you mentioned to me
00:46last time you were on.
00:47But do you think they add an arm?
00:50They should have.
00:51You know, could they get Giolito now?
00:54Lucas Giolito's still out there.
00:55But, yeah, Giolito's missed all the spring training.
00:57We've seen the track record.
00:59Guys that miss spring training usually have terrible, terrible years.
01:03I'm sure he's asking for more than anybody wants to give them.
01:06I think they should have gone for a bigger arm there.
01:09You know, whether it was at Framer Valdez.
01:11I know they were in big time in Rangers for us.
01:13I think they should have gotten Zach Gallin.
01:16So, I think they're going to regret not getting that one big arm.
01:19Let me go over to the police here and Dave Dombrowski.
01:23Zach Wheeler, you know, he's 35 years of age.
01:26What are you expecting from him?
01:28Do you think he'll be an impact player for this Phillies team?
01:31He could be the linchpin, Bob.
01:33You said it a year ago to me.
01:35You thought there was only one team that could really compete against the Dodgers.
01:39You thought it was this Phillies roster.
01:41Is Zach Wheeler the maybe missing piece here?
01:45Yeah, so for the same, if Wheeler wasn't hurt there with the TOS surgery,
01:49I think they could have beat the Dodgers.
01:52I mean, that was a huge, huge piece missing.
01:54Now he's back.
01:55If he stays healthy all year, I'll give them, once again,
01:59the biggest challenger to the Dodgers.
02:01I think that team is loaded.
02:02I know they're getting older.
02:04So are the Dodgers.
02:06You know, a couple last questions here for Bob Nightingale, USA Today here.
02:10Bob, I want to ask you about Cal Raleigh.
02:12You know, he's such a great hitter.
02:14He's a switch hitting power.
02:15In 30 seconds, you think the Mariners ever get down to a point where they do this?
02:20I want to save his knees.
02:21Let's maybe try to play him at first base.
02:24I know you told me he's one of the greatest defenders of any position in baseball.
02:28Do you think they start thinking about that a little?
02:32I don't think so until the end of his career.
02:34I remember when I was coming to the Dodgers, my Piazza was a catcher.
02:37Talked about moving Piazza to first base forever.
02:39He says, I don't want to move.
02:41If I go stay behind the plate, I'm going to the Hall of Fame.
02:45If I go to first base, I'm a dime a dozen.
02:47I think the same thing with Cal Raleigh.
02:49His value is behind the plate.
02:51Defensively, you don't get 60 home runs by a catcher.
02:54But you do get 40, 50 home runs by first baseman.
02:57I think they keep behind the plate as long as possible.
03:00I think it's cool.
03:00We go to the Hall of Fame.
