00:00Coach, talk about putting rosters together with Nill and with the transfer portal, how hard it is.
00:06Back in my day, Coach, you know, guys didn't transfer.
00:09Guys didn't leave.
00:10We were able to build a culture.
00:12And Coach Jimmy Johnson was able to have guys each and every single year, as you were when you first
00:17got into the business.
00:18I mean, your culture was set.
00:20Nowadays, you're bringing new people in constantly.
00:23You've got to re-recruit your guys.
00:25How hard is that to build a culture when you're talking about what you want to accomplish with your football
00:30team?
00:31Yeah, certainly more challenging than it was, you know, a few years back.
00:35And essentially, most Power Four teams are dealing with half of a new team each fall.
00:43I mean, it's about 50-50 as far as the returners as opposed to the newcomers.
00:48And so you're relying on your returners even that much more to, you know, indoctrinate and help the guys that
00:54are coming into the program understand what we're all about and what the expectations are.
00:58And so it is more challenging when you have, you know, 60 guys trying to indoctrinate 60 other guys rather
01:05than 100 guys trying to indoctrinate 20 guys.
01:08And so it definitely is more of a challenge for the players and the coaches.
01:14But like I said, these guys that we have here seem to be, you know, exactly in line with what
01:19we're looking for culture-wise.
01:21Coach, a couple last questions here for you here.
01:23This has to have energized, you know.
01:25I mean, do you feel energized now, again, because you look great?
01:28I mean, you are getting ready for retirement.
01:31And I would think something like this, seeing the new personnel you have.
01:34As I said, you start camp this week, but this has had to have energized, you know.
01:39Absolutely.
01:39It's exciting for us.
01:41And we've got a great staff here who was able to put together a bunch of really good coaches, including
01:47our strength coach, one of the best in the country, Doug Ellisaya.
01:50And so it's definitely infused, you know, energy into me.
01:55And not that I didn't have it to begin with, but, you know, I'm not that old, but I'm not
02:00that young.
02:01You know, but I still got several good years left and really excited about this opportunity.
