00:00On the left-hand side of your screen, Jacques Villeneuve as Charles Leclerc
00:04is the latest to lap Sergio Perez.
00:07Jacques Villeneuve is saying that we've not seen Kimi Antonelli out in front of a Grand Prix.
00:11We've seen some great performances from him, but he's been making his way through the field.
00:15And it'll be interesting to see how he copes.
00:18Oh, is Max Verstappen going a lot slower than you would expect?
00:21It looks like he is. Oh, no!
00:24Oh, for Max Verstappen, it's going to be a retirement.
00:27His first ever retirement here in Shanghai.
00:31Can he, though, get the car home? He's got power.
00:35And these are teething troubles in the early stages for Red Bull powertrains.
00:40They've done an impressive job to get this engine built from scratch
00:46at their new facility in Milton Keynes.
00:49But they had an issue with the power units in Australia
00:53that caused Isaac Hadja to retire.
00:54And it could be a power unit issue for Max Verstappen here.
00:59It could be a battery issue.
01:00It could be hydraulics. We don't know.
01:03But it's certainly another mechanical issue for Max Verstappen.
01:07And there'll be many drivers and teams hoping that he can, in fact, make it back down pit road
01:14because if there's a late safety car here, you're going to see frantic action
01:18with pretty much everyone having to come in with just 10 laps to go.
01:24Looks like he does have enough momentum and power just about to get back into the pits.
01:29There's your race leader, Kimi Antonelli, lapping Max Verstappen,
01:33who kept very much out of the way and very respectfully out of the way too.
01:38Carlos Sainz moves up in the ninth place.
01:40Colin Pinto back up into the points.
01:42Let's have a listen on board with the full-time champion.
01:53I just didn't pick back up, did it?
01:55No.
01:56Oh, and then the whole dashboard's turned off.
01:58So is that electrics? Hydraulics?
02:01Electrics, yeah, yeah.
02:02So it all went blank for a moment.
02:04Then it came back on again because you saw the red lights flashing.
02:07Verstappen's made his way back to the pits, lap 46 of the Chinese Grand Prix.
02:13He retires while he retires on this, the anniversary of his F1 debut, 11 years to the day.
02:20Kimi Antonelli puts in the fastest lap of the race.
02:23He is showing that he can keep very cool and very composed in the lead of a Grand Prix.
02:29Very impressive stuff by the young Italian.
02:32Very impressive indeed.
02:33He's opened that gap up to his teammate.
02:358.7 seconds now.
02:37So over a second ahead he's gained from the moment that Russell overtake took this man on screen, Charles Leclerc.
02:47Let's head down to as Max Verstappen gets out of his Red Bull car.
02:52A massive disappointment for him.
02:54Team apologised to him after a sprint qualifying.
02:58They've been at pains to say that it will get better.
03:01But there are issues that need addressing.
03:04Down at Red Bull and reliability very much a problem too.
03:09Let's head down to the interview area.
03:12We've lost, I should say, six drivers from this race.
03:15One of them didn't start.
03:16He is Oscar Piastri.
03:18He's talking to Rachel Brooks.
03:21Oh, Oscar.
03:22I mean, you got further this time.
03:25The last time.
03:28When were you aware of the issue, did it happen on the lap to the grid or was it onto
03:31an air?
03:32No, it was once I got out of the car.
03:35Yeah, not exactly sure what it is.
03:38We just know it's an electrical issue on the PU side.
03:41So, disappointing.
03:42And different to the one Lando had, the team has said.
03:49It does give you a chance to see what others are doing right now in the race and where they're
03:53deploying.
03:53I mean, what can it say?
03:54It's been a while since I've watched two F1 races from the sidelines.
03:58So, yeah, the Ferraris look pretty quick at the moment.
04:02But we'll see how long that lasts for.
04:04All right, thanks, Oscar.
04:07Oscar Piastri, while we were, sorry, Esteban Ockham, while we're hearing from Oscar Piastri,
04:12has come in to serve his penalty.
04:14He served his penalty.
04:16And they're trying to get something away from the front suspension.
04:21Maybe he's picked something up.
04:22No, it was from the incident, wasn't it?
04:23Yeah, so I think it was the barge board that had come loose.
04:26There's a bit of metal that was sticking out that holds that barge board in place.
04:31So, yeah, probably for safety, they've had two pair of bolt cutters that they're using to take that off.
04:39Very un-F1.
04:40All it needed was a bigger hammer in there as well.
04:45The mount, we talked about the state of the marbles.
04:47You can see the state of the marbles from the white trim on the Ferrari
04:52and Lewis Hamilton's yellow helmet.
04:56Yeah, they're really starting to suffer this late on in the Grand Prix.
05:00I didn't think it would be possible.
05:02I thought it was overly ambitious to run these tyres for as long as they have,
05:07but they've all committed to it.
05:08And that's testament to the learning they had yesterday.
05:11All the drivers learning how to drive around this very punishing racetrack.
05:17Driver of the day closes in six laps.
05:20I am expecting a landslide today, but you never know, Ted Kravitz.
05:26Who?
05:27Oscar Piastri, Brandon Norris, Alex Albon, Gabriel Borges.
05:31No, they're patients.
05:31Yes, yes.
05:32Patients of the day goes to all of those.
05:34It's Kimi Antonelli.
05:35Tell us how you vote, and I'll do it.
05:37Right.
05:38What's going to go on with the last points-paying position?
05:41Well, Franco Colopinto is actually catching Carlos Sainz very, very quickly.
05:45You said this.
05:45It looks like...
05:47No, I thought Lindblad would actually manage to close up to Sainz.
05:51But that's really affected them quite badly,
05:54because Hülkenberg is also quite quick on the new-ish medium tyre.
05:58So Lindblad looks like isn't going to challenge,
06:00but it looks like Colopinto is going to catch that Williams very quickly.
06:03OK, thanks ever so much, Ted.
06:05I'll just give you credit for the predictions there.
06:07Highest-flaced finish in a Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli,
06:10as I mentioned a few, about 20 laps ago, was second last time out.
06:14And he's odds-on to go one better.
06:19I don't know, Antony Davidson, you've driven races and you've won them,
06:22and on your way to becoming a world champion in WEC.
06:25Is this the start of the relaxation period?
06:29Is this the bit where you start to think about the win,
06:32or is this the bit where you hear every single noise on the car
06:35and think, no, no, no, what's wrong now?
06:36Yeah, you know, he had issues even on his qualifying lap yesterday.
06:41George Russell obviously had issues on his during qualifying,
06:46and nobody's immune to reliability,
06:49especially this early on in the new regulations and cars.
06:53So they would have seen and been fully aware
06:56the fact that two McLarens didn't even make the race today
07:00and fully aware of their own team's vulnerabilities as well.
07:04So, yes, you very much are enjoying the moment
07:07because it's a beautiful place to be,
07:09leading a Grand Prix with over nine seconds
07:12over your closest competitor,
07:14and that gap continues to grow.
07:16You're in the flow.
07:17It's amazing.
07:19Everything just works.
07:20You're in the zone.
07:21It's like the zone.
07:22It's like being an autopilot.
07:23Things just happen,
07:25and you're just so at one with the car.
07:28It is beautiful,
07:29but at the same time,
07:31you're ever so worried
07:33about the mechanical reliability of all of your equipment.
07:36And there's Bono, his race engineer.
07:39He knows what it's like to win a Grand Prix or two.
07:41That great relationship with Lewis Hamilton over the years,
07:44and this looks like the start
07:45of yet another successful winning partnership
07:48with another driver.
07:50The car that's been lapped there, by the way,
07:52is Franco Colopinto.
07:54Colopinto closing in on Carlos Sainz.
07:57George Russell struggling with his rear tyres,
08:00and we're on board with our race leader.
08:02Now that's Carlos Sainz just ahead.
08:05Bernie Collins to you.
08:06Yeah, I was just going to come in there.
08:08That message that George Russell gave the pit wall
08:10will not have allowed Bono any rest
08:13because they've obviously pitted on the same lap croft,
08:16and George Russell's now suddenly three-tenths a lap
08:18off the pace.
08:20So we're still five laps to go in this race.
08:23Are these tyres in this very, very long stint
08:26going to be OK?
08:27It's a big question mark.
08:28They're still lapping faster than the Ferraris,
08:31and what do you think?
08:33We've had a good look at the front left there,
08:35which is normally the limiting factor around here.
08:38Yeah, you could just see on the inside shoulder
08:40it having picked up the marbles,
08:42they move to the inside shoulder
08:44and get flicked away as he goes through
08:46that long right-hander.
08:47As we see the Alpine working its way past the...
08:51past the Cadillac.
08:53The Cadillac as he lapses.
08:54That new team on the grid.
08:57Well done.
08:59That I almost forgot, but no, I won't.
09:02Oh, is this a slower-moving sight?
09:04Oh, he's just making way for our race leader.
09:05Science-making way.
09:06Do you know what?
09:07Current vote split.
09:0822% Antonelli, 19% Hamilton,
09:1010% Colin Pinto.
09:11Yeah, but come on, Behrman's got to be in there as well, no?
09:14Yeah?
09:14What a cracking race he's driven today.
09:17Gasly's driven well.
09:18Also, so many drivers have really, really impressed today.
09:22But I do think no more so than Kimi Antonelli.
09:26The pressure he's had, such a young driver.
09:29He's had George Russell right there.
09:31Look, there he is on screen.
09:33He's been hounding him the whole race pretty much.
09:37But Antonelli, in a fair fight,
09:39has pulled away more than two and a half seconds now
09:42to his more experienced teammate.
09:44George Russell, with his rear tyres going,
09:47through the first two parts of lap 51,
09:50was four tenths faster than Kimi Antonelli.
09:54It stayed four tenths faster.
09:56The gap now at nine seconds.
09:58I mean, George Russell is a fine driver.
10:01He has got a big margin to make up.
10:03But if the tyres are going off,
10:05you know, it will keep Kimi Antonelli and Pete Bonington,
10:08you know, on the edge of their seats.
10:10I see what he did there.
10:11He did have the advantage, though, didn't he, Kimi,
10:14of seeing the fight happen behind him
10:17with the two Ferraris and his teammate Russell.
10:20And at that point, he could just drive to the tyre.
10:24He didn't overstress it, overslide it.
10:26And the last time we rode on board with him,
10:29at least I could see that he was just driving a car
10:32as much on rails as he possibly could,
10:34not oversliding, which, to be fair,
10:37he is often guilty of.
10:38So he's learning, he's adapting the whole time.
10:42And this is a very important,
10:45it's a valuable day for Kimi Antonelli today.
10:48He would have learned more in this race
10:49than maybe he did half the season last year.
10:53In his own ability and that confidence you get
10:56from having put together a race like this today
10:58goes such a long way.
11:00Certainly does.
11:01Maybe lapping Colopinto and Sainz
11:03might have slowed him down a bit.
11:05There's no sign of Antonelli slowing down
11:07and George Russell making inroads
11:11into his advantage on this lap.
11:13Another lock-up there from Charles Leclerc.
11:15He has put some punishment
11:16over the 41 laps through those tyres.
11:20Yeah, I think, yeah, he has punished them too much.
11:23He really enjoyed, he said, it's his own word,
11:25he really enjoyed the fight,
11:26not just with George, but his own teammate as well.
11:29And now sits 3.8 seconds behind Hamilton.
11:33And that might be a result of, you know,
11:35that extra tyre wear that he's got.
11:37I picked up the fact he had more.
11:39His tyres looked a little bit unhappy earlier on
11:42and there's nothing he can do at this stage.
11:43Hamilton, he's driven the better race
11:47in terms of that A to B stint you had to do
11:50on this long stint on the hard tyres.
11:53So he was, as always with Lewis,
11:55thinking more about the long game
11:57and he knows better than most out there,
12:01better than anyone,
12:02how to get the best out of his tyres in that stage.
12:05So, yeah, Leclerc gave it a good go
12:07and they committed to that one-stopper.
12:10Six wins for Lewis Hamilton here in Shanghai.
12:13He go back to 2013 for the last time.
12:15He finished third here.
12:16He is on course for a tenth podium finish
12:19here in Shanghai.
12:20That's a circuit record.
12:22No other driver has done ten.
12:24This could be one of the most special podiums
12:28of his 203 podium career.
12:32The first four Ferrari.
12:35Signed for Ferrari,
12:36wanting to lead the scooter rear
12:39to good times and better times in the future.
12:42This is going to mean so much to him.
12:44And that is Kimi Antonelli
12:45who's gone off at the hairpin.
12:48So, Kimi Antonelli with a nine and a half second lead,
12:52seemingly comfortable out in front,
12:54has had a lock-up,
12:55has managed to keep going
12:57and that gap now will come down even more
13:00to about seven and a half seconds.
13:02He doesn't want to do that again.
13:03Three laps to go.
13:05Let's see what happened here then.
13:06There's no traffic around him.
13:07We've already seen a massive lock-up from Leclerc.
13:09As we know things are getting tricky yet
13:11and it's as easy as that.
13:13The crowd you can hear in the background
13:14in disbelief as they see the race leader
13:17go off the circuit.
13:19Leclerc did it the lap before
13:20and this is starting to get very tough
13:23for all the drivers.
13:24Keep your heads together,
13:26Kimi Antonelli.
13:27That nine-second lead now down to 7.4.
13:30Okay, Kimi, it's three laps remaining.
13:32So, let's just get this thing home.
13:34And that's where I love this relationship
13:37between the multiple championship
13:40and race-winning engineer Peter Bonington
13:43and this young protege he has.
13:46Such raw talent,
13:48but obviously he comes with some excitement
13:51at points and that's...
13:54Kimi needs someone like Bono right now.
13:57He's as deadpan as they come
13:58in this situation as Bono
14:00and you're right,
14:01that's exactly what you need.
14:02Charles Leclerc is also having lock-up incidents as well
14:06and he's been told just, you know,
14:07just calm, ease.
14:09You know, Antonelli could ease off
14:10by about a second and a half a lap here
14:12and still win this quite comfortably,
14:14but it's when you start easing off
14:16other problems arise as a result,
14:19but he's much more cautious
14:20into turn 14 this time around.
14:22And this is where
14:23a more experienced driver, Croft,
14:25you wouldn't know
14:26just to win,
14:27say like Alain Prost style,
14:30where you just have to win the race.
14:32You don't have to keep pulling away
14:33from your rivals the entire time
14:36and really prove a point.
14:38Senna was guilty of it
14:39in Monaco that day
14:40as famously crashed before the tunnel
14:42wanting to prove that point.
14:44And, you know,
14:45racing drivers are sensitive souls
14:47and they want the ego.
14:49They want to flatter that
14:50and at all times be faster
14:52than their competition,
14:53but that's Bono just saying,
14:55you've done a brilliant job.
14:57Bring it home.
14:58No heroics.
14:59Meanwhile,
15:00there is a battle going on
15:01for ninth place out here.
15:03Kimi Antonelli's got to bring it home.
15:04He's got a lap and a half to go.
15:06Just over five miles.
15:08Colopinto is chasing down Carlos Sainz
15:11a little bit further behind.
15:13Sainz is really starting to struggle.
15:1444 laps on those tyres,
15:1621 laps on the medium
15:17for Franco Colopinto.
15:19That's going right to the line.
15:21Hamilton has a three and a half second gap
15:23back to Charles Leclerc
15:25as he hunts down his first podium
15:27for Ferrari.
15:28Oli Behrman,
15:29who finished seventh
15:30in the opening Grand Prix of the season,
15:31is on to finish fifth for Haas here
15:34where they finished last year
15:35with Esteban Ocon.
15:36Pierre Gasly picking up
15:37eight points currently
15:39for Alpine.
15:40In sixth place,
15:41Liam Lawson.
15:42Another decent weekend
15:44for the Racing Bulls.
15:46holding off Isaac Hadjar.
15:48He's in seventh.
15:48Hadjar and the one remaining Red Bull
15:50is eighth.
15:51Sainz ahead of Colopinto.
15:53Hülkenberg a bit too far back
15:55to get involved on that.
15:56Charles Leclerc has now just put in
15:58the fastest first sector.
16:00Where does that come from
16:02on this latest lap?
16:04And Kimi Antonelli
16:05is about to start
16:07his final lap
16:08of this Chinese Grand Prix.
16:11A Chinese Grand Prix
16:12where he came
16:14knowing
16:14he's in the dominant car.
16:16Where if he just keeps his head,
16:18there's a chance
16:19at least of a front row.
16:20But he's gone one better than that
16:22and he's got that pole position.
16:23And he has survived
16:25some skirmishes
16:25in the opening stages
16:27of this race
16:28to go and stretch
16:29his advantage out in front
16:30and to lead this race.
16:32The safety car offered them
16:33an option to come and pit
16:3545 laps ago.
16:37His dad is watching the screens.
16:38He is pacing around.
16:40He is as nervous
16:41as nervous can be.
16:42And he has been with Kimi Antonelli
16:44all the way
16:45through his career.
16:46And a racer himself as well.
16:48So he knows full well
16:49what it's like
16:50to lead a race,
16:52to win a race,
16:52but not a Formula One race.
16:55This is the big one.
16:56This is the big one.
16:58I mean, I expected
16:59Antonelli to win races this season.
17:01I really thought he would.
17:03I thought he would get pole positions.
17:04Did I expect it in round two?
17:07Not necessarily.
17:08He surprised me.
17:09Colopinto going through turn 10
17:11is right on the tail
17:12of Carlos Sainz
17:13coming out of turn 13.
17:14A lap ahead,
17:16Kimi Antonelli
17:17has one straight corner,
17:19one straight corner,
17:20checkered flag to go.
17:22Last time,
17:23an Italian driver
17:24started on pole position.
17:26Giancarlo Fisichella
17:28back in 2007
17:30at Spa.
17:31He didn't win that day,
17:32but a driver called Kimi did.
17:34We've had an Italian
17:35starting on pole,
17:37sliding out of the penultimate corner.
17:40We're going to get
17:40an Italian driver winning here.
17:42Forza Italia,
17:43Kimi Antonelli,
17:44for the first time in Formula One,
17:47wins a Grand Prix
17:48in his victory
17:49in Shanghai
17:50for the young man
17:52who at the age of 19
17:55and 200 days,
17:57202 days,
17:58is on top of the world
18:00right here.
18:02And Toto Wolff
18:03celebrating
18:04with his dad
18:04in the garage.
18:05George Russell comes home
18:06into Mercedes 1-2
18:08and stands
18:09for Lewis Hamilton
18:10who will stand
18:11on the podium
18:12as a Ferrari driver
18:14for the first time.
18:16Third place
18:17here in Shanghai,
18:1810th podium
18:19at this circuit
18:20on Mother's Day.
18:22His mom is here
18:23to see Lewis
18:24on the podium
18:25for the first time
18:26with the scooter here.
18:27Charles Leclerc
18:28comes home
18:29in fourth place.
18:30Oli Behrman
18:31is a long, long way
18:33behind,
18:34but ahead
18:34of Pierre Gasly
18:35and will take,
18:37will very much
18:38take that fifth place
18:39and a brilliant job
18:40by him today as well.
18:45Yes, Kimi,
18:46come on my son.
18:49Yes,
18:49yes, man.
18:52We did it,
18:53we did it,
18:53we did it, man.
18:55Well done there, mate.
18:56First race win.
18:58This is one
18:58you're going to remember
18:59forever, Val.
19:01Nice words
19:01from Bono there
19:03and what a drive
19:03it has been
19:04from Kimi Antet.
19:05It's not easy,
19:06you know,
19:06he's had to
19:07fend off
19:08a seven-time world champion
19:10hot in his heels
19:10at the start of the race
19:12and the threat
19:13from Ferrari
19:14at the start,
19:15he got that race start
19:16that he wanted,
19:17a brilliant day.
19:18So behind
19:19Behrman,
19:20Gasly six,
19:21Lawson seventh,
19:22Hajar eighth
19:22and that battle
19:23for ninth
19:24is still going on.
19:26Colopinto's going
19:27wheel to wheel
19:27down the back straight
19:29with Carlos Sainz.
19:31Driver of the day
19:32is
19:32Kimi Antonelli.
19:34Franco Colopinto
19:35hasn't been in the point
19:37since Baku
19:38in 2024.
19:40He's not scored points
19:41for Alpine.
19:42He's going to get
19:43a point today
19:43or will it be two?
19:45Because that is still
19:46carrying on.
19:47Nice.
19:50Good racing out there
19:51today.
19:52Yeah, well done team.
19:53Well done Kimi.
19:58They were both laps
20:00and the graphic
20:01didn't say the jacket flag
20:02so I thought
20:03they were still racing.
20:05Well done Luis.
20:07Solid race,
20:08clever, smart
20:08as we wanted.
20:11Fantastic job.
20:12Fantastic job guys.
20:14Really well done.
20:15Really good for the hard work.
20:16We've got to keep up.
20:18Keep pushing.
20:19Back at Marinello
20:20we've got work to do
20:20but I believe in you.
20:22Let's keep pushing.
20:23For the Ferrari.
20:26Clever, smart indeed.
20:27Yes.
20:28It was.
20:28It was one of his
20:30finer races I think.
20:31And you know what's
20:32on Lewis Hamilton's side
20:33this year Crofty?
20:34He's got his qualifying
20:35performance back.
20:37Thank you everyone.
20:39Thank you so much.
20:41You
20:43made me achieve
20:43one of my dreams.
20:46And he's allowed
20:47to come and park
20:48his Mercedes
20:48on the grid
20:50here.
20:52Sainz holds off
20:53Colopinto
20:53then they finished
20:54a lap down
20:55when Kimi
20:57crossed the line.
20:58Hülkenberg just
20:59missing out on the points
21:00out of Lindblad,
21:00Bottas,
21:01Ocon,
21:01Pérez
21:02and we lost
21:03Verstappen,
21:03Alonso Stroll.
21:04Piastri,
21:05Norris,
21:05Bortoletto and
21:06Albon from this race.
21:08Kimi Antonelli
21:09is shaking his head
21:11maybe in stunned
21:12disbelief
21:13trying to take it
21:14all in.
21:15I love the fact
21:16he's got Lewis
21:17Hamilton just off to
21:18his left-hand side
21:18as well.
21:19The man that's been
21:20there, seen it
21:20and done it all
21:21in the world of
21:22Formula One
21:23and I think
21:23I think, you know,
21:25there'll be an
21:25appreciation on
21:26both sides there.
21:31There it is.
21:33That's the moment.
21:37We wondered
21:37was he going to
21:38get a good start?
21:39He got a decent
21:40start today.
21:41The Ferraris
21:42came at him
21:42and he had to
21:44bide his time
21:44a little bit
21:45and now he can
21:47celebrate with his
21:48crew.
21:48He's such a
21:49likeable character
21:50as well
21:50and it's just
21:51a little glimpse
21:52into that
21:53character
21:53on the exit
21:54of Turn 14
21:55Crofty
21:55where he lit
21:56the wheels up
21:57on the final lap.
22:00He's loved
22:00by the team
22:01and you can see
22:02why.
22:03Full of energy.
22:03He's brought
22:04this huge amount
22:06of energy
22:06to the team.
22:08There's his dad
22:08as a racing team.
22:10The racer himself
22:10has his own
22:11racing team.
22:13Kimi famously
22:14memorises
22:15lap times,
22:16doesn't he?
22:16And his lap times.
22:18I dare say
22:18he's got another
22:1956 to try and
22:20remember
22:20for today.
22:22But this is
22:23superb
22:23and Toto Wolff
22:25could have
22:26brought in
22:26when Lewis
22:27Hamilton left
22:27could have
22:28brought in
22:28to the
22:29Mercedes
22:29stable
22:29a more
22:30experienced
22:30driver
22:31that could
22:32have got
22:33wins
22:33straight away.
22:34but no
22:35he said
22:35I've got
22:35faith
22:36in this
22:36man
22:37I've got
22:37faith
22:37in
22:37Antonelli
22:38he is a
22:39superstar
22:39of the
22:40future.
22:41Spotted
22:42in
22:42go-karts
22:43could see
22:44the talent
22:44there
22:45and many
22:46people would
22:47testify to that
22:48and that's a
22:48good embrace
22:49between the
22:50teammates
22:50and they've
22:52got a long
22:52championship fight
22:53probably ahead
22:54of them this
22:54year but
22:55the competition
22:56Ferrari
22:57then
22:58they're the
22:58closest at the
22:59moment and
22:59they're not
22:59that far away
23:01as George
23:01was saying
23:02earlier on
23:02the reddit
23:03they're fast
23:03in all the
23:04wrong places
23:05if they can
23:06be fast
23:08in the right
23:09places too
23:10for their
23:11sake
23:12they're right
23:12there.
23:13Yeah McLaren
23:13have got work
23:14to do
23:14electrical issues
23:15today and
23:16different electrical
23:17issues meant
23:18that Norris and
23:19Piastri couldn't
23:20start this race
23:21and look at
23:23that Lewis is
23:23over to give
23:24big hugs
23:24not just to
23:25Kimi Antonelli
23:26but his old
23:27mate Bono as
23:27well and I
23:29think he'll
23:29enjoy even
23:30more the
23:31fact that he
23:31can share a
23:32podium with
23:33Kimi and
23:34with Bono
23:34and his
23:36first time
23:37there and
23:37Lewis's first
23:38time for
23:39Ferrari.
23:42I wonder who
23:43will spray him
23:44the hardest
23:44with the
23:44champagne
23:45property.
23:46Lewis gets
23:47a well done
23:47from Toto
23:48Wolff there
23:49as well.
23:51It's 26
23:52Grand Prix
23:52for the
23:53team and
23:56Lewis gets
23:56that third
23:57place.
23:59Charles
23:59Leclerc still
23:59hasn't finished
24:00on the
24:00podium.
24:00But a
24:00Chinese Grand
24:01Prix by
24:01the way.
24:02He went
24:04past Kimi
24:04Raikkonen
24:05for the
24:05second most
24:06starts in
24:06Ferrari
24:07history.
24:09That's a
24:10man that I
24:10think will
24:11get a few
24:11starts for
24:12Ferrari in
24:12the future
24:13as well.
24:13That's another
24:14really mature
24:15drive from
24:16Oli Behrman
24:16today.
24:17It really
24:17was.
24:18I loved
24:18watching him
24:19race.
24:19He's been
24:20fast all
24:20weekend.
24:21He was in
24:22Melbourne as
24:22well.
24:23I think the
24:24future is very
24:25bright for that
24:26young lad.
24:28Certainly is.
24:31sold out
24:32capacity crowds
24:33here in
24:35Shanghai.
24:3510,000 more
24:36than we had
24:38here last
24:39year.
24:40Top speed
24:40of the race.
24:42354
24:43kilometers an
24:44hour.
24:46219 of
24:46your miles
24:47an hour
24:47and that
24:47sounds enough
24:48to me.
24:48That was
24:49that overtake
24:49mode in
24:50full effect
24:51that we
24:51were talking
24:51about before.
24:53David
24:54Coulthard
24:55has the
24:56mic in his
24:56hand.
24:57He has
24:57two Mercedes
24:57drivers with
24:58him.
24:58Kimi Antonelli
25:00congratulations on
25:01your first
25:02Grand Prix
25:03victory.
25:04Thank you so
25:04much.
25:10Yeah I'm
25:11speechless.
25:12I'm about to
25:13cry to be
25:14honest but
25:15yeah I mean
25:16thank you so
25:16much to my
25:17team because
25:19yeah they
25:21helped me to
25:22achieve this
25:23dream.
25:39You're the
25:39first Italian
25:40to win for
25:4120 years so
25:43a hugely
25:44significant
25:45moment for
25:46your country
25:46as well.
25:47Yeah I'm
25:48super happy.
25:49I said
25:49yesterday that
25:50you know I
25:51really wanted to
25:52bring Italy
25:52back on top and
25:53we did today.
25:55Even though I
25:55gave myself a
25:56little bit of a
25:57heart attack
25:57towards the end
25:58with the
25:59flat foot but
26:01yeah it was
26:02a good race.
26:03It was a good
26:03race.
26:03And what was
26:04incredible
26:05was how
26:05mature you
26:06had to
26:06fight hard
26:07with George
26:07into the
26:08first corner
26:09giving up
26:09position to
26:10the Ferraris
26:11but that
26:12decision there
26:13won you this
26:14big lead
26:15towards the
26:15end and
26:16ultimately the
26:16Grand Prix.
26:17Yeah I mean
26:17it was a
26:18difficult
26:19it was not
26:19an easy
26:19start and
26:21yeah probably
26:22I covered a
26:23bit too much
26:23on the inside
26:24and gave too
26:25much room
26:25to the
26:26Ferrari but
26:26yeah the
26:27pace was good
26:28and we
26:29managed to
26:29bring it
26:30home.
26:30I'm going
26:31to come
26:31back to
26:32you so
26:32stay there.
26:33George
26:34well it
26:35was a
26:35busy one
26:35for you
26:36you had
26:36the two
26:37dueling
26:37Ferraris to
26:38deal with
26:39it looked to
26:40me like you
26:41had to take
26:42a bit more
26:42out of your
26:42tires when
26:43you were in
26:43that battle
26:44but first of
26:45all your
26:46thoughts on
26:47Kimi's first
26:47victory you
26:48remember getting
26:49yours and then
26:50get into your
26:51Grand Prix.
26:51yeah firstly
26:52huge congratulations
26:53to Kimi because
26:53it's always very
26:55special to win
26:56your first race
26:56and obviously
26:56he's been
26:57driving really
26:57amazing this
26:58year and this
26:59weekend especially
27:00so yeah pleased
27:01to be standing
27:02on the podium
27:02with him and
27:03also with this
27:04guy as well
27:05so it was a
27:06tough battle
27:07obviously we
27:08both had really
27:08bad starts again
27:09and the
27:10Ferraris shot
27:11passed but at
27:12the end of the
27:12day getting
27:12the one-two
27:13again is all
27:14we could ask
27:15for.
27:15Okay George
27:15thank you and
27:16well Lewis I
27:17never thought I'd
27:18be saying welcome
27:19back to the
27:20podium.
27:26Last year was
27:27a bit uncomfortable
27:28at times other
27:28than the sprint
27:29victory but the
27:30first two races of
27:31this season have
27:33shown the
27:33fighters there it
27:35was wheel-to-wheel
27:35stuff with your
27:36teammate and he
27:37came on the radio
27:38and said he was
27:38enjoying the
27:39battle how was
27:40it for you?
27:41Well firstly I
27:42have to say a
27:42huge congratulations
27:43to Kimi I'm so
27:45so happy for you
27:46buddy and I'm so
27:46honored to be able
27:47to share this
27:47moment with him
27:48you know he took
27:49my seat obviously
27:50at this great
27:51team so big
27:51congratulations to
27:52Mercedes they're
27:53really pulling
27:54ahead at the
27:54moment we've got
27:54a lot of work
27:55to do to try
27:55and keep up but
27:56I had so much
27:57fun we had a
27:58great start wasn't
27:59able to keep
28:00these guys behind
28:00but to stay in
28:01the fight is one
28:02of the most
28:03enjoyable races
28:04that I've had in
28:05a long long
28:05time if ever the
28:08fact that the
28:08cars are the way
28:09they are this
28:10year and that
28:11battle with
28:12Charles at the
28:12end was awesome
28:14great wheel-to-wheel
28:14battle very fair
28:16and just what we
28:17want we've got to
28:18keep pushing and
28:19also we got this
28:20most this is the
28:21most people I've
28:21ever seen here in
28:22Shanghai so
28:23thank you
28:27they loved it
28:28they love you
28:29there was moments
28:30when you were
28:31battling with your
28:31teammate where we
28:32were standing back
28:33in the commentary
28:34box which we
28:35thought how can
28:36you guys not end
28:37up touching that
28:38was real real
28:39racing
28:41I think there was
28:41one moment we did
28:42touch but it was
28:44subtle just a kiss
28:46so it's okay but
28:48you know that's
28:49what this is what
28:49it's about it's
28:50about tough racing
28:52and I really I've
28:53got to say a huge
28:54thank you to to
28:55everyone at Ferrari
28:56everyone back at
28:56Maranello for getting
28:57us into this position
28:59I know it's not exactly
29:01where we want to be we
29:02want to be up front
29:02where these guys are
29:03but we've got a great
29:04platform to work off
29:06and we just got a
29:07literally full full gas
29:09so
29:10to everyone back home
29:11thank you Lewis enjoy
29:13that podium
29:13Kimi coming back to
29:14you you've had time to
29:16reflect on your first
29:17victory now so has it
29:19sunk in what does this
29:21mean now for the dreams
29:23of a championship campaign
29:24with George
29:25yeah I mean it's
29:26we're just at the
29:27beginning we keep
29:29pushing you know
29:30George is an incredible
29:32driver very you know
29:33he's very strong on all
29:34aspects so it's going to
29:35take a lot to beat him
29:37but you know it's such a
29:39great opportunity to be
29:40working with him as well
29:41because I've been
29:42learning a lot from him
29:43and yeah looking forward
29:45to the rest of the
29:45season now I always
29:46focus race by race and
29:48then we'll see where we
29:50end up at the end of
29:50the year
29:51Kimi go and spray that
29:53champagne and enjoy your
29:54first Grand Prix victory
29:55thank you
29:59the applause then for a
30:01very happy podium
30:02Kimi Antonelli and
30:04George Russell and
30:05Lewis Hamilton I'll
30:06take you back was it
30:07Malaysia 2006 was the
30:09second round of the
30:09season in 2006 there
30:11was a constructor it was
30:12Renault that day had a
30:13one-two finish and it
30:14was the last finish race
30:16win by an Italian driver
30:18in Formula One Giancarlo
30:19Fisi Keller getting the
30:22victory for Renault that
30:23day
30:24I think it's about 19 years
30:26and 361 days ago or
