01:01Welcome to Shanghai and the 19th World Championship Chinese Grand Prix Round 2 of this 2026 season.
01:09An already high drama here before the off.
01:12Lando Norris, defending champion, currently in his car in the garage.
01:16Electrical issues affecting his McLaren.
01:19And 60 seconds ago, his teammate Oscar Piastri pushed off the grid and back into the garage too.
01:26McLaren are in severe danger of having no car compete in this Chinese Grand Prix, which they won last year
01:32with Oscar Piastri from pole position.
01:35And we have 16 corners, 7 to the left and 9 to the right.
01:39We have new rules and regulations, new compounds.
01:42And for tyres as well, the narrower and slightly harder compounds, there's still the C4, C3, C2.
01:48And they're still going to be punished around this 3.38 mile circuit.
01:52And we've currently got two McLarens in the garage.
01:56We've got Alex Albon starting from the pit lane and Gabriel Bortoleto and Audi also being pushed off the grid.
02:03This is the way the starting grid then might shape up for this 56 lap race.
02:08Alex Albon in the pit lane.
02:09Sergio Perez starts on the back row.
02:13Ahead of these, Lance Stroll out qualified by the Cadillac of Valtteri Bottas.
02:17Fernando Alonso qualifying in 19th.
02:20That is his worst qualifying here in 18 attempts for a Grand Prix.
02:24Carlos Sainz starts 17th for Williams, his teammate in the pit lane.
02:28Gabriel Bortoleto is also in the garage currently.
02:30And Arvid Lindblad starts 15th where he started for the sprint.
02:33His teammate Liam Lawson, 14th, Esteban Ocon, missed Q3 by 6 milliseconds, his 13th.
02:40Franco Colopinto missed it by 5 milliseconds.
02:43And Nico Hülkenberg missed the top 10 by 2 milliseconds.
02:47Oli Behrmann squeezed in and Isaac Hadja alongside him on row 5 for Red Bull.
02:52Max Verstappen, same place that he started the sprint, is in 8th.
02:55Pierre Gasly, his highest start since he was fourth on the grid in Jeddah 22 races ago.
02:59The two McLarens should be on row 3.
03:02They are both to confirm in the garage currently.
03:05Charles Leclerc starts fourth every race we've had this season.
03:09The driver starting fourth has led into turn 1.
03:11Lewis Hamilton, third on the grid.
03:13It's a Mercedes front row lockout as it was for the sprint, as it was for the Grand Prix in
03:18Melbourne last week.
03:20Anthony Davidson alongside me.
03:22There is a big gap on row 3 where that man, the defending champion,
03:26and his teammate at the defending constructors champions should be filling.
03:30Yeah, such a shame, Croft, to see both McLarens.
03:33Here's Oscar Piastri.
03:34So both drivers still in the car, but scenes look a bit calmer on Lando Norris' side of the garage.
03:40Such disappointment so early on for McLaren.
03:43Ted Kravitz is down on the ground for us.
03:46Ted, this is the worst possible start for McLaren ahead of this Grand Prix.
03:50So we're just waiting for confirmation from McLaren that it is a similar issue.
03:53The strange thing is that nothing's changed since the sprint race yesterday in which both McLarens obviously could start up
03:59and then finish.
04:00And same to say for the Grand Prix qualifying where the cars were running fine.
04:04Nothing's changed between then and this morning.
04:07But when they try to fire them up, they're just having these electronic problems.
04:11And whether it's a problem with the ECU or others, or other bits of it, multiple issues potentially, we're waiting
04:17to find out.
04:18But yeah, they carry on like this.
04:19We're hardly going to have any cars left on the grid at all.
04:21But yeah, I can hear some engines running up.
04:24But it doesn't look good, the picture down at McLaren.
04:26No, it certainly does.
04:27And at Audi with Gabriel Bortoletto, they're still investigating the reasons behind the necessity to push him off the grid.
04:37And that's the way the grid looks with the youngest pole sitter in Grand Prix history.
04:42Kimi Antonelli and his teammate George Russell alongside him.
04:45Antonelli, third time of us in this season, needs a good start.
04:50He has done it in testing, just not when it matters.
04:53And today, Crofty, really matters.
04:56So pole position for Kimi Antonelli.
04:58Let's see if it's third time lucky for the young Italian.
05:02As the countdown then towards three o'clock in the afternoon here in Shanghai begins.
05:07And we hit three o'clock and we've got a formation lap for you.
05:11On this, the day that 11 years ago, Max Verstappen made his debut in Formula One as a 17-year
05:17-old in the Australian Grand Prix.
05:19He was teammates to Carlos Sainz that afternoon.
05:21And Carlos Sainz was also making his debut in the outrace, Max Verstappen, on that particular occasion.
05:27When it comes to the race here today, one stop is the favoured strategy.
05:33If anyone starts on the soft, well, Verstappen and Hadjar are.
05:37They're taking a bit of a gamble.
05:38Given what happened in the sprint yesterday, the hard is very much the favoured race tyre.
05:43One stop on paper looks like it is the fastest strategy.
05:46But, you know, tyre graining is so high around this circuit, Crofty, and that could determine whether it becomes a
05:52two-stop.
05:53Skyrace control for us this afternoon.
05:55Bernie Collins, good afternoon, Bernie.
05:57Hello, Crofty.
05:58You want some strategy chat?
06:00Always.
06:01Yeah, so I think the two red balls starting on the soft, they've got two options then, really, don't they?
06:05They're either committed to that two-stop, which will have a very early stop lap anywhere really from around lap
06:1010,
06:11and then two sets of hard tyres from there.
06:13Or, do they think they can stretch a single hard tyre, use the soft off the start line to gain
06:21some positions,
06:22and then have an early pit stop onto the hard tyre, or take an early safety car onto a hard
06:28tyre?
06:28And then they can make the decision after that, Crofty.
06:31They can decide depending on how that hard tyre progresses.
06:34With teams only bringing two hard tyres to this event, nobody really knows.
06:38Nobody knows what the graining is going to be like in these conditions on the hard tyre.
06:42So anyone that stops early onto that is taking a gamble.
06:45And even if they'd have all run the hard tyre yesterday, the track temperature is about 13 degrees cooler than
06:51it was for the sprint race.
06:54Oscar Piastri, one from pole here last year, he is now wondering if he can actually get into the race
07:00itself.
07:01After Melbourne last year, last week, where he didn't get into the race after that crash,
07:05it just couldn't get any worse at the start of the season for Oscar Piastri.
07:09It's the kind of scenes that I expected at the first race just one week ago in Melbourne,
07:14probably not the second Grand Prix.
07:16I would have thought teams would rapidly get a handle on the reliability issues,
07:20but, yeah, that's the nature of Formula One.
07:24Always expect the unexpected in Apricard.
07:26And in a new set of regulations in cars, as we saw the Red Bull on the grid,
07:29even the rear actuator, something that should have been tried and tested in our minds over many years with DRS.
07:37It's a similar functionality.
07:39They're figuring out these new problems, finding these new problems with these new cars.
07:42The actuator being the bit that helps the active aero get active.
07:46Makes it move.
07:47Makes it move.
07:48Different issues.
07:50Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, I'm being told.
07:52I haven't got any details.
07:53Gabriel Bortoletto's out of this race.
07:55And that's a real, real shame for him.
07:58Won't take part in what would be a second Chinese Grand Prix after finishing 14th last year.
08:03So what's gone wrong with Oscar?
08:04There's a different issue for Lando Norris on the other side of the garage.
08:09And there's the front row.
08:11Mercedes locking themselves into position.
08:15Now, Kimi Antonelli can't become the youngest race winner.
08:18Max Verstappen's got that honor from Spain in 2016.
08:21He could, though, if he has a good race, and George Russell doesn't,
08:24become the youngest ever driver to lead a world championship.
08:27As Pierre Gasly needs to just reverse back a bit,
08:31because he was going straight to where Oscar Piastri's car shouldn't have been.
08:34It's always difficult.
08:35That really throws you as a driver when you see this open space in front of you.
08:39It's so tempting just to go into it.
08:41So that was a quick spot there by Pierre Gasly.
08:44Alex Albon should be starting from the pit lane, but he's out of the car as well.
08:49So it looks like at the moment we're going to have 18 drivers in this race.
08:54It's definitely going to be over 56 laps.
08:57And we've got the start procedure as the revs build up.
09:01And now we have the five lights ahead of the drivers.
09:05It's the Chinese Grand Prix.
09:07Lights out, away we go.
09:09Much better start from Kimi Antonelli.
09:11Lewis Hamilton's coming right at him, and he's already past George Russell.
09:15We could get two into the first corner, side by side.
09:17Hamilton ahead of Charles Leclerc.
09:19Antonelli on the inside will try and hang this out.
09:22George Russell down in fourth.
09:24Gasly with Hadjar on the inside of the soft tyres.
09:26Over the curve goes Charles Leclerc.
09:28That could give George Russell and Kimi Antonelli a bit of impetus to get going.
09:32And Antonelli manages to hold on to second place.
09:36We've got a moment.
09:37Someone running wide at the rear.
09:39Hadjar down the inside looking for a move on Gasly.
09:41Lock up there from Arvin Lindblad.
09:44Liam Lawson goes past Estaban.com.
09:46Lindblad on the runoff area.
09:48And there is the red ball of Isaac Hadjar.
09:51Yeah, it's Sergio Perez down at turn three.
09:54I wonder if he had a bit of contact there or was spun out.
09:57But he's got going again, but very far behind the rest of the field.
10:00Right, so behind Behrman, Isaac Hadjar.
10:04And then the Alpina ahead of them of Pierre Gasly.
10:07Then George Russell.
10:08That was a late move to the left-hand side from Oli Behrman.
10:11They're going wheel to wheel.
10:12Hadjar's been squeezed out.
10:13Behrman's off the track.
10:15Hadjar says, oh, might have a little moment here on the inside to get past the Haas.
10:19And he does it.
10:20Oh, and then he spins.
10:22And then he sends Oli Behrman wide onto the runoff area.
10:26Whoa, what a skirmish on this opening lap for Isaac Hadjar.
10:29It was a good move down the inside from Behrman,
10:32but he had to go right off the circuit and had to give the place back,
10:35as that's very close between the midfield there into turn 14.
10:39Lock-ups everywhere.
10:40Liam Lawson and Franco Colopinto.
10:42Lawson actually went off the track.
10:43Limbland has been overtaken by both.
10:45Fernando Alonso is up to 10th place, as he did at the start in Melbourne.
10:51And Hadjar being told to box and to come into the pits by his red ball team
10:56at the front seven or five are pulling away behind.
11:00There's all sorts of scraps going on.
11:01That's Carlos Sainz trying to get past Fernando Alonso and up into 10th place.
11:06Then behind these two, Max Verstappen.
11:08Another ball start for Max Verstappen from eighth.
11:11He's down to 12.
11:12Hadjar coming into the pits from huge vibrations,
11:15and that's to be expected around that high-speed spin that he had.
11:18He's had a bit of bodywork there getting flicked up from the back of the Ferrari.
11:22He hasn't made any contact with anyone.
11:23So here comes Hadjar on the right-hand box on the screen.
11:26So yeah, they had to replace all four of those tyres.
11:28Hopefully no further damage to that red ball.
11:31But he just lost it with the cold tyres,
11:33with that deployment, that huge amount of power
11:36going through the rear axle on the exit of that corner.
11:38Right, Lewis Hamilton, lap two, leads the Grand Prix.
11:42The Ferrari starting third led the first lap on this particular occasion.
11:46Kimi Antonelli is right with him.
11:48Charles Leclerc is right behind Kimi Antonelli,
11:50and George Russell is right behind Charles Leclerc.
11:52It's what you would expect.
11:53Ferrari, Mercedes.
11:54Ferrari, Mercedes in 2026.
11:57These are the two teams that have seemed to have adjusted
12:00to the new regulations the best.
12:02And there's already a gap opening to Pierre Gasly in fifth.
12:05There goes Kimi Antonelli.
12:06Past Lewis Hamilton, down towards the hairpin.
12:09Under braking.
12:10And can Hamilton fight back?
12:12Not on this occasion.
12:13Is he, though, going to deploy extra battery
12:15to try and boost his way out of that penultimate corner
12:18as Oscar Piastri gets out of his car to Grand Prix?
12:22He hasn't completed a single lap in either of them in 2026.
12:26Antonelli has, and he now leads on lap three.
12:29Half a second gap over Hamilton.
12:31There's George Russell behind Charles Leclerc.
12:33There's George Russell ahead of Charles Leclerc.
12:36Lewis Hamilton said before the race of the Ferraris
12:39we're going to have to work together
12:40to try and put a stop to the Mercedes
12:43eventually working their way through.
12:44They believe they've got the faster race pace
12:46and they showed that yesterday.
12:48But I was expecting, or half expecting,
12:50Lewis to make a comeback down towards Turn 1.
12:53He didn't do that,
12:54but with that extra boost of energy
12:56from the battery pack from Antonelli,
12:58it's still not over until the end of this lap, Prof. D.
13:02Let's see how it works out.
13:03But remember, with the overtake mode in function,
13:06that car behind, the second behind the car in front,
13:08gets that extra half a megajoule of energy
13:11that they can use,
13:12and Kimi Antonelli putting that to good use now.
13:15Franco Colopinto is running sixth
13:18behind his teammate, Pierre Gasly,
13:20and he's on the hard tyre.
13:21This has been a fabulous start for Franco Colopinto,
13:25the only driver last season to be racing this season
13:28that didn't score a point
13:29during the course of last year.
13:32Got the battery graphics up for you,
13:35an overtake enable for Lewis Hamilton.
13:38He gets that extra half a megajoule of allowance.
13:40That should be helping him down the back straight,
13:43but Antonelli seems to be streaking away.
13:46And Russell will have that enabled as well,
13:48as will Leclerc,
13:50because they're all definitely within a second of one another.
13:53So Hamilton has that advantage this lap on Kimi,
13:57and we've got to see whether he's still within that second.
13:59I believe he will be at eight tenths as it stands at the moment,
14:02and they've gone through that detection point.
14:05But watch for George.
14:06Here comes George Russell.
14:07What a boost down the first part of the straight from George Russell.
14:12He pressed the magic button there,
14:14and the car said,
14:15let's go!
14:16George Russell up into second place.
14:18It's two Mercedes,
14:20two Ferraris on lap four.
14:22Antonelli leads now from his teammate,
14:23and that shows you the power at 470 brake horsepower
14:28at its fullest potential
14:29to absolutely blast past Lewis Hamilton.
14:33After Charles Leclerc comes Gasly and Conor Pinto.
14:36Conor Pinto on those hard tyres.
14:37So he's going to go a bit longer on this stint.
14:40Lawson on the medium,
14:40Ocon on the hard,
14:41Lindblad on the hard,
14:42Verstappen on the soft,
14:44trying to make up ground after losing places right at the start.
14:47And if you're just joining us,
14:48we've lost four drivers from this race.
14:50Alex Albon and Gabriel Bortoleto,
14:52and both the McLarens,
14:54the defending Constructors champions,
14:55out of this race.
14:56The screens are up in front of the garage.
14:58Massive disappointment for them.
15:00Noted by race control for causing a collision,
15:03Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas,
15:04who in their last race,
15:06before they joined Cadillac,
15:07came together in Abu Dhabi.
15:09Two teammates, though, coming together.
15:11That's not what Cadillac need
15:12at the start of their F1 adventure.
15:14That's not the reason why they chose
15:16those two mightily experienced racing drivers, is it?
15:20To make contact with one another.
15:21Maybe they got caught out in the chain reaction.
15:23We'll have to wait and see.
15:24But, yeah, you would like to think
15:26that both of them could survive
15:28the action through the first couple of corners
15:32of the first lap.
15:33His hook-up from George Russell there,
15:35just going into the hairpin.
15:37And that's allowed Hamilton
15:39just to close back in on the back of the Mercedes.
15:41But, yeah, these two Mercedes.
15:43I wonder if Hamilton's got a bit of a different game plan here.
15:46He tried yesterday in the sprint
15:47to fight it out with George Russell.
15:50Got a lot of front-graining
15:51and then fell back and lost out to his teammate eventually.
15:54I wonder if he's just thinking of the long game here.
15:56Protect those tyres,
15:58maybe try and come back at them later on.
16:00Verstappen's thinking on the soft tyres.
16:01He needs to make gains
16:02and he came into that first turn
16:04with so much extra speed.
16:06Managed to get past David Lindblad
16:08but couldn't keep the car on the track.
16:10So, opportunity there for him
16:13but opportunity not taken.
16:15Let's go to Bernie Collins.
16:16In two seconds, let's have a look at the start first.
16:18And Kimi Antonelli doing what his teammate did yesterday,
16:21pointing to the right
16:21to try and cover off the fast-starting Ferraris.
16:24So, they said, let's go around the outside.
16:26Lewis went to go to the middle of the two Mercedes
16:29and then thought,
16:30OK, I'll just try it around the outside of you as well then.
16:32And he made that work.
16:34But Leclerc, right around the outside.
16:36Look, Russell tried to put himself...
16:38Oh, Antonelli tried to put himself on the inside.
16:40But Antonelli just about had enough momentum
16:43to hang on to it.
16:45Just at the bottom of your screen,
16:47you might have seen Sergio Perez
16:48trying to find a gap that wasn't there.
16:50Hence the contact with Valtteri Bottas.
16:53Leclerc got a good start as well
16:55but he's got his teammate right in front of him
16:57so he couldn't carry any extra speed
16:59in towards Turn 1.
17:01And that's why he had to eventually
17:04play second best to Antonelli.
17:07Oh, that was tight, wasn't it?
17:08Over the kerb and the rear just snapping as well
17:10for good measure
17:11as he tries to put his foot down.
17:12Let's see what it looked like
17:13on board with Max Verstappen.
17:15Well, it bogged down again.
17:16Yeah, not a great getaway.
17:18Once again, cars overtaken him
17:19on the left and the right.
17:21How frustrating must that be?
17:23Once again for Max Verstappen
17:25to see cars just appearing
17:27from either side
17:28and shooting past him.
17:30This is the gap that wasn't there
17:32for Sergio Perez.
17:34Oh, dear.
17:34As he spun his teammate round, I think,
17:36and himself in the process.
17:38You could kind of see that one
17:40happening a few metres before that.
17:42No further investigation by the stewards
17:44and that was Isaac Hadjar
17:46losing it all by himself.
17:47It was, you know, cold tyres on the exit.
17:49This is the move from Behrman.
17:51Oh, he just couldn't hang on to it
17:52and runs out wide.
17:54And if you overtake a car
17:55by then going off the circuit,
17:56you have to let them by.
17:57But Hadjar has passed anyway.
17:59And look at that.
18:01I mean, Hadjar's.
18:02If you're Holly Behrman,
18:04you're driving straight to the side
18:06of a Red Bull there.
18:07Great reactions.
18:08And this was Max Verstappen
18:11losing over a second at turn one
18:13as he had that massive moment of oversteer.
18:16Yeah, just had that snapped in the mid-corner.
18:19So, Hadjar sitting there 2.8 seconds back.
18:23And I've just got a feeling
18:24that he's really nursing things
18:26at this stage with his tyres.
18:27He's, I've got a feeling
18:28that the car has a bit more pace in it
18:30and he's just staying out of the wake
18:32of the car in front of George Russell.
18:34And that's the best strategy
18:36when it comes to tyre grain.
18:37Tyre graining, by the way,
18:39is when the tyre starts to blister up
18:41and sort of roll its rubber
18:42away from either side.
18:44It usually starts around the middle of the tyre
18:46we've been seeing and testing.
18:48And so all the drivers be aware of that.
18:50And it's at its worst
18:51when the track's cold
18:52and when there's less rubber being put down.
18:54So, i.e. at the start of the race.
18:56So, these are delicate times for these tyres.
18:59And actually, that's the Stappen
19:00just going through turn 14.
19:02You can just see that darker patch
19:04on the inside,
19:05closer to the inside shoulder.
19:07That's the graining we're talking about.
19:08So, that's what the front runners
19:11don't want to happen at this stage for Grand Prix.
19:13Let's see if Max Verstappen
19:15can get past Arvid Lindblad this time
19:17and make it stick.
19:18No is the answer.
19:19Lindblad had that defended very nicely indeed.
19:23And you can see where they're both
19:24using battery in the overtake mode.
19:26They're highlighted for Max Verstappen.
19:29That extra half of making a jewel of energy.
19:30But following so close to the racing balls,
19:33that's a real struggle for Max out on the track.
19:36Bernie Collins at Sky Race Control.
19:37Yeah, two quick things, Crofty.
19:39So, first of all,
19:40Lewis Hamilton's been on the radio and said
19:42he can't keep up with the guys in front.
19:44That's been his message to Ferrari.
19:46And then, secondly,
19:47this man here, Verstappen,
19:49has been told to try and make progress
19:51on these soft tyres if he can,
19:53but without overstressing them,
19:54which seems to be a struggle currently.
19:56And seems to be a battle
19:58that he is not winning currently.
20:00Antonelli, one and a half seconds
20:02ahead of George Russell.
20:03Two seconds back to Lewis Hamilton.
20:05And within a second, Charles Leclerc.
20:07Gasly running in fifth.
20:09Franco Colopinto.
20:10Do you remember the Singapore Grand Prix in 2024?
20:13It was the only time that Colopinto
20:16has ever completed a lap in the top six.
20:19Just the one lap in the top six.
20:21Well, he's done seven.
20:23He's done six of the half so far.
20:25So a shout-out to Franco Colopinto.
20:27He's all on his own,
20:28but he's currently in sixth place.
20:30He even got a hug from Flavio Priatore yesterday
20:33after qualifying.
20:34What a weekend he's having, then.
20:36Carlos Sainz, meanwhile,
20:38with Nika Hülkenberg for company.
20:40And this is the battle for 12th place.
20:42One remaining Audi
20:43and the one remaining Williams
20:44still in this race.
20:47Hydraulic issues for Alex Albon,
20:49forcing him out of this race.
20:52I think one of the things
20:54that's making life pretty tough
20:55for Max Verstappen,
20:56on top of it,
20:57the graining he's got
20:58on those soft set of tyres,
20:59it's the fact that Lindblad
21:00is also closing in
21:02on Liam Lawson.
21:03So he's on the attack.
21:04And Lindblad's driving
21:05another phenomenal race here.
21:07And I think the right strategy
21:09as well,
21:09stick him on the hard tyre,
21:11go long on this first hit.
21:13Now, you're running a risk
21:14if a safety car comes out.
21:16But hard tyre is better
21:18than soft tyre,
21:18I think, for the opening part,
21:19as Max is now proving.
21:21Yeah, we saw Liam Lawson
21:22running those hard tyres
21:23yesterday in the sprint race
21:24and really started
21:26to make good progress
21:27around about that 8 to 10.
21:30So here we are again
21:31at this stage
21:31with, of course,
21:32much more fuel on board
21:34compared to a sprint race.
21:35So it's going to be,
21:36it's going to make life
21:38even harder for the tyres.
21:40Just you slide around more,
21:41causes more friction
21:42and that opens it up
21:43even more.
21:44So, yeah,
21:45drivers that aren't being
21:47overly careful
21:48with the front tyres here
21:49and it is a front-limited track
21:51as Jacques Villeneuve
21:52was saying earlier on,
21:54you know,
21:55it's easy just to overdrive
21:56the front of the car,
21:57put too much slip into it,
21:58too much understeer
21:59and sort of force them
22:00through these long corners
22:02like this one here
22:02at Turn 13.
22:04I wouldn't want to be the one
22:06relaying the message to Max here
22:07to say your pit window
22:08starts on lap 15, Max.
22:10He's got another
22:11six or seven laps to go
22:12as the two racing bulls
22:15have a little swap around.
22:17Do they?
22:17No, swap around
22:18and then swap back around.
22:19Lindblad locks up
22:20and that allows Lawson
22:21to go through.
22:23If you were,
22:24if you were down
22:25on the pit wall
22:26at the moment
22:26with the racing bulls,
22:27would you just say to Liam,
22:29look, Arvid is on
22:29a completely different strategy
22:31to you
22:31and it might be better
22:33for us as a team
22:34to let him through.
22:35He's on the hard tyre,
22:36he's going to go longer
22:36than you anyway.
22:37Yeah, exactly.
22:37Different strategies,
22:38they would have been
22:39through that in a briefing
22:40before even starting
22:41the race today,
22:42way before starting
22:43the race today,
22:44maybe even last night
22:45we'd have come up
22:45with this strategy
22:46between the two of them,
22:47but that wasn't Lawson
22:49fighting him.
22:50No, it wasn't.
22:50Yeah, it had,
22:51uh,
22:52Lindblad just locked up
22:54and gave him
22:54that opportunity back.
22:57Guys,
22:57we are reviewing.
22:59Yeah, it's okay,
23:00I'm just going to lose time.
23:02Yeah,
23:02because the other thing,
23:03of course,
23:04Liam Lawson
23:04is going to lose time
23:05fighting a position
23:07with Arvid Lindblad.
23:08He had to repass him,
23:09look,
23:09here's the replay again,
23:10so Lindblad goes
23:11for the overtake
23:12and it was fine,
23:13Lawson wasn't,
23:14wasn't fighting at all,
23:15but that late lockup
23:16just caused this,
23:18a situation
23:19where Lawson's
23:19then come back
23:20on the road
23:20and said,
23:20I was planning
23:22on letting him by there,
23:23but,
23:23oh,
23:24what a sad scene.
23:25Two races in a row
23:27for Oscar Piastri.
23:28Academy Awards
23:29in LA tonight,
23:30the F1 movie
23:31up for four of them,
23:32but it ain't Oscar's day
23:33here in Shanghai.
23:35Very good.
23:36Very bad
23:37at the same time,
23:38Crofty.
23:38It's not something
23:40I really want to say either.
23:41I'm absolutely gutted
23:42for Oscar Piastri.
23:44This is not
23:45the start to the season.
23:46He envisaged
23:47as he went back
23:48to Melbourne
23:49during the winter
23:50and prepared
23:51for a new campaign.
23:52Here is
23:53the two racing balls
23:55swapping places.
23:56Meanwhile,
23:56behind them
23:57on the inside,
23:58Oli Behrman
23:59fancies to go
23:59with Max Verstappen
24:00and I don't think
24:01Max Verstappen
24:02has got much grip
24:03to try and defend with,
24:04but he's giving it his all.
24:05Liam Lawson
24:06is coming into the pits
24:07and Max Verstappen
24:08is coming into the pits too.
24:10So,
24:11we've got a medium compound runner
24:12and a soft compound runner
24:14making a pit stop
24:15on lap 10.
24:16Ted Kravitz
24:17is down on the pits.
24:18We can go to you.
24:19Yeah,
24:19that's about right
24:19for two stoppers.
24:21So,
24:21we'll see how
24:21Max and Liam's races
24:23evolve from here.
24:24I've got the info
24:25from McLaren,
24:25Crofty.
24:26They're two completely
24:27different electrical issues.
24:30They are related
24:31to the power unit.
24:32So,
24:33it's an interface
24:33between McLaren
24:34and Mercedes.
24:35A completely random
24:37set of circumstances,
24:38the team tell us.
24:40The cars were fine
24:41when they came in
24:42for qualifying.
24:42They were fine
24:43in the sprint race.
24:44just a terrible coincidence
24:46that both Oscar Piastri
24:48and Lando Norris
24:49should have issues
24:50such as that.
24:51A coincidence?
24:53Yeah,
24:53just what can you say?
24:54And they're both out.
24:55Thanks, Ted.
24:56Lance Stroll
24:57could be out of this race.
24:58He might have kept
24:59the engine running.
25:00He's come to a halt
25:02at turn one,
25:04running down
25:05in 18th place.
25:07And Aston Martin
25:07not necessarily
25:08looking to go
25:09to the chequered flag here
25:11and just trying
25:11to gather data
25:12with their...
25:14And we've got a safety car
25:15with their particular issues.
25:17Now it's a full safety car.
25:19Lewis Hamilton,
25:20Bernie Collins,
25:20was saying
25:20they're just pulling away
25:21from me
25:22at the two Mercedes.
25:23This is going to help him.
25:25Yeah, Crofty.
25:26And I think everyone
25:26who started on a medium
25:27or a soft tyre,
25:28this is their opportunity.
25:29What poor timing
25:30for Max Verstappen.
25:31He's just taken
25:32a full pit loss
25:34and now everyone's
25:35going to get
25:35a cheap stop
25:36under this full
25:37safety car.
25:38So Kimi Antonelli
25:39comes into the pits.
25:41They're double stacking
25:42at Mercedes.
25:44And not as fast
25:45as you'd have seen
25:46last year
25:46but 2.9 seconds
25:47is okay.
25:49George Russell
25:49next to stop
25:50at Mercedes
25:51and he's going
25:53to come out
25:55wheel to wheel
25:56I think here
25:56with Lewis Hamilton.
25:58Leclerc's going to lose
25:59a little bit of extra time
26:00here, Crofty,
26:00because he was in
26:01closer to Hamilton
26:02than Russell
26:04was with Antonelli.
26:05Russell stays out
26:06and gets out
26:07just ahead
26:08of Lewis Hamilton.
26:09There we go
26:09and wheel to wheel
26:10down the pit lane.
26:12The hard compound
26:12tyre runners
26:13will stay out
26:15and not pit here.
26:16So Franco Colopinto
26:17has moved up
26:18in a second place.
26:20Esteban Ocon third,
26:21George Russell fourth
26:22and then Lewis Hamilton fifth.
26:24He's lost out to
26:26Lindblad as you mentioned
26:27Anthony as Charles Leclerc.
26:29Hülkenberg hasn't
26:30stopped his eighth.
26:30Gasly is ninth
26:31and Behrman in the pits
26:33from tenth.
26:34And there's
26:34Bert Mylander
26:35and his 501st
26:37Formula One Grand Prix.
26:39Well done
26:40on 500 Grand Prix's
26:42as a safety car driver
26:43last time out
26:44but we didn't see him
26:44on the track
26:45in Australia.
26:46Bert Mylander
26:47have been called
26:47into action
26:48very early on here
26:50and that is Lance Stroll.
26:52I hope they've not
26:52given him a Honda moped
26:53to get back.
26:55Oh, ouch.
26:56That's what he'll be saying.
26:57That's not the way
26:58he wanted to get back
27:00to the pits today.
27:01Not quite the same
27:02technology as a Formula One
27:04hybrid power unit
27:05but these were the kind
27:07of scenes we expected
27:08from Aston Martin
27:09all the way through
27:10testing we saw it.
27:11It was inevitable.
27:13I mean,
27:14you have to keep
27:14when the show is going
27:16you have to keep
27:17going and put your car
27:18out there
27:19and try and learn
27:21every single lap
27:22that you do
27:22that's why they're
27:23still out there.
27:24So, we expected them
27:26and they expected
27:27the car to not make
27:28it through to the
27:29end of the race
27:30today but they have
27:31all the tools
27:32available as a team
27:33to make changes
27:35and improvements
27:36so what's happened
27:36here with Hajjar?
27:37Isaac Hajjar's
27:38second pit stop
27:39in this race
27:40and the front left
27:41didn't really want
27:42to come off
27:43so he pitted
27:44at the end of lap 1
27:45and a bit
27:46frustrated by that
27:48down at Red Bull
27:48as you would expect.
27:50Yeah, it's not quite
27:51the standard that they
27:52usually operate to.
27:54Let's talk about
27:55Kimi Antonelli,
27:56shall we?
27:56This has gone
27:57very nicely for him
27:59the opening 11 laps
28:00lost the lead
28:01at the start
28:02but managed to
28:03regain the lead
28:04came in for his pit stop
28:06under the safety car
28:07so you're about
28:0915 seconds
28:10as opposed to
28:1024 seconds
28:11you're losing.
28:11his team mate
28:13George Russell
28:13came in as well
28:14but Colopinto
28:16Ocon stayed out
28:18so there's now
28:18a couple of cars
28:19between himself
28:20and his team mate
28:21George Russell
28:21now you'd expect
28:22Russell to get past
28:24those cars
28:24but that's going to
28:25slow him down
28:26for at least a lap
28:27or maybe two.
28:28Yeah, Russell was
28:29they were holding
28:29station really
28:30around about
28:31one and a half seconds
28:32Russell was behind
28:33Antonelli
28:34and it didn't look like
28:35he had the speed
28:36to really catch him
28:37but maybe he wasn't
28:38thinking about
28:39putting his team mate
28:40under pressure
28:40just yet
28:41so it's going to
28:42be fascinating
28:43to see how these two
28:44particularly how
28:45George plays this
28:46Kimi obviously
28:48he's young
28:48he can be erratic
28:49mistakes can
28:51we've seen him
28:52make mistakes
28:52in the past
28:53he just had a tiny
28:54lock up actually
28:54behind the safety car
28:56into that final corner
28:57but so far
28:59he's driving
29:00a very mature
29:01Grand Prix
29:01as Perez
29:02trundles down
29:03the pit lane
29:04and this is
29:05obviously new
29:06for Cadillac
29:07and their crew
29:08real time
29:09live pit stops
29:11just get it done
29:12safely
29:13rear right
29:14little bit sticky
29:16five and a half seconds
29:17he's back out
29:18into the races
29:18ahead of Isaac Hadjar
29:20and that is it
29:22Charles Leclerc
29:22has also got traffic
29:23to try and make
29:24his way through
29:25because he lost
29:25out of place
29:26to Arvid Limblad
29:27and the hard tyre
29:30runners
29:30all stayed out
29:31didn't they
29:32Steve Nielsen
29:33is managing director
29:34at Alpine
29:35Steve
29:36on my bingo card
29:38for this race
29:38I didn't have
29:39Franco Colopinto
29:40running second
29:41but let's give him
29:42a shout out
29:42what a great start
29:43for this race
29:43for him
29:44yeah really
29:45really really good
29:45for Franco
29:46I mean obviously
29:46we benefited
29:47from McLaren's
29:48misfortune
29:48but I'll take it
29:49but no
29:50really really strong
29:50for both cars
29:52what's he reporting
29:53in terms of tyre wear
29:54so far
29:54all the teams
29:56I'm sure
29:56worried about
29:56graining in this race
29:58yeah we had a bit
29:59of graining with Pierre
29:59took the opportunity
30:00to stop under the
30:01safety car
30:01Franco I think
30:02he's under control
30:03on the hard
30:03so we'll see how far
30:04we can push him
30:05and if you can hang on
30:07to a double points
30:07finish today
30:08what does that mean
30:09in this early stages
30:10of the year
30:11to a team like Alpine
30:13it's everything
30:13to us
30:14Crofty
30:14you know
30:14we've had a tough
30:15few months
30:16and I don't want
30:17to jinx it
30:17but yeah
30:18looks good at the
30:19moment
30:20long way to go
30:21Steve
30:21it's Anthony here
30:24who are you really
30:24racing in this race
30:25who are you looking
30:26back because you've
30:27got the two
30:27you're surrounded
30:27by the Mercedes
30:28at this point
30:28but obviously
30:29they've just come in
30:30and they're on the
30:30on the new tyres
30:32I think I'm racing
30:33honestly the way
30:34this race has gone
30:35so far
30:35I think we're racing
30:35everybody
30:37happy to push
30:38my luck
30:38as far as it'll go
30:40brilliant
30:40George Russell
30:41just been on the
30:42radio Steve
30:42saying he thinks
30:43a one stop
30:44is going to be
30:45really tricky today
30:46do you concur
30:49we're probably
30:49all trying to do
30:50one stop
30:50let's see how it
30:51turns out
30:53thanks Steve
30:54speech in a little
30:54bit
30:55Steve Nielsen
30:56with us this
30:57weekend
30:58I like it
30:59but when we're
31:02only trying to
31:02second guess
31:03without any data
31:04in front of us
31:04who they might be
31:06racing but it's
31:06brilliant when people
31:07actually on the pit
31:07wall don't really
31:08know either
31:09so you know
31:10these new rules
31:10and regulations
31:11it opens up
31:12to anybody
31:13but I mean
31:14for Colopinto
31:15he's got
31:16he's got
31:17the Haas
31:18behind him
31:19but then there's
31:20Russell behind him
31:21and Hamilton
31:21they're on new
31:22tyres so
31:23it's a hard-fought
31:24competition I think
31:25with Haas
31:26that's who they're
31:26really racing isn't it
31:27so this was
31:28Antonelli's pit stop
31:29and then George Russell
31:31and they trained for
31:32this to all the crews
31:33but you know
31:34you can lose a second
31:35by double stacking
31:36quite easily
31:38Charles Leclerc comes in
31:39they might have had to
31:40hold George Russell
31:40a little bit
31:41and as he came out
31:43Charles Leclerc was
31:43coming in
31:44and then Lewis Hamilton
31:45had just come out
31:45too
31:47yeah Hamilton's pit stop
31:48actually was quite a bit
31:49quicker than that of Russell
31:51that's why he came out
31:52right behind him
31:53it was close
31:54but Russell just managed
31:55to hang on to that
31:56safety cars coming in
31:57this lap
31:58quickly the Burnley Collins
31:59yeah just a quick one
32:00Crofty
32:01Verstappen has also been told
32:02the target on this tyre
32:04is to get all the way
32:05to the end
32:05it's going to be a lot
32:06of management
32:07but that is the target
32:08so I don't know
32:09if that's for us
32:10or for his competitors
32:11or actually a genuine
32:13but we're going to figure
32:14find that out very quickly
32:15everyone does have
32:17largely two sets of hards
32:19another set to put on
32:20if they need to
32:21if they get another
32:22safety car
32:22and then very very quickly
32:24Colopinto and Ocon
32:25on that hard tyre
32:26that is going to be a
32:27struggle for them
32:28at the restart
32:28to hold positions
32:29or not lose
32:30lots and lots of time
32:31as faster cars come through
32:32yeah you're not wrong there
32:33I think that would be
32:3446 laps Max Verstappen
32:36would have to put in
32:37on the hard tyre
32:37which is what George Russell
32:38and Kimi Antonelli
32:39managed on the hard tyre
32:41in Australia
32:41last weekend
32:44so Colopinto
32:45running P2
32:46first Alpine driver
32:47to be running
32:48in the second position
32:50since they finished
32:51second and third
32:52with Gasly and Ocon
32:54in that wet
32:55Sao Paulo Grand Prix
32:56in 2024
32:58that's how much
32:59this current situation
33:00means to everyone
33:02at Endstone
33:03after
33:04you know
33:04their worst season
33:05since they were
33:06Tolman
33:07back in the mid 80s
33:08last year
33:08well can they rebound
33:10back this weekend
33:11they need to get
33:12this restart right
33:13and maybe
33:14not fight it
33:15quite so hard
33:16because I'm not sure
33:17that Colopinto
33:17or Ocon
33:18are really racing
33:19against George Russell
33:20but let us see
33:21how this goes now
33:22green flag
33:23and we can go racing
33:24Ocon is right behind
33:25Colopinto
33:26he fancies a little overtake
33:28trying in a turn one
33:29Colopinto
33:29closes him off
33:30Antonelli is leading
33:32Lawson's already got past
33:33Alonso at the restart
33:34George Russell
33:35there going wide
33:36that might give
33:37Lewis Hamilton
33:37some encouragement
33:38Hamilton
33:38but a car length
33:39too far back
33:41Lindblad
33:41holds off
33:42Charles Leclerc
33:43for the time being
33:43but Leclerc
33:44is gaining on Lindblad
33:45out of the corner
33:46and you can see it now
33:48with Lewis Hamilton
33:48behind George Russell
33:50and Arvid Lindblad
33:51still keeping
33:52Charles Leclerc
33:53at bay
33:53Colopinto
33:54manages to stay ahead
33:55of Ocon
33:56but Hamilton
33:56goes through
33:57on George Russell
33:58who is a bit compromised
33:59there by the Haas
34:01in his attempts
34:01to get past the Alpine
34:02yeah George Russell
34:03I think put off
34:04by the car in front of him
34:05locked up
34:05Crofty into turn six
34:07ran a bit wide
34:08Hamilton beautifully
34:09anticipated it
34:10did the switch back
34:11came back out of him
34:12on the inside of the corner
34:14very good move
34:15and very wise
34:16from the seven-time
34:17world champion
34:18they were teammates
34:19here last year
34:20Max Verstappen
34:21and Liam Lawson
34:21they nearly got
34:23just as close
34:23as they were
34:24in the Red Bull
34:25hospitality area
34:26before the race
34:27on the track there
34:28Verstappen and Lawson
34:29almost banging wheels
34:31as they made their way
34:32through the right-hander
34:33Hamilton
34:34right on the back
34:35here of Esteban Ocon
34:37in the Haas
34:37Antonelli leads
34:39from Colopinto
34:39Ocon's under pressure
34:41down that back straight
34:42active aero
34:43dumping the drag
34:44losing about 55%
34:46of the drag
34:47with that active aero
34:48under breaking
34:49Hamilton
34:49gets past Esteban Ocon
34:51he's trying that
34:52inside line
34:53to slingshot
34:54out of the corner
34:54Hamilton's got
34:55fresher grip
34:56and he manages
34:57to stay ahead
34:58it looked to me
34:58Crofty
34:59he didn't even have
34:59to use his boost
35:00button to get past
35:01Ocon there
35:02so he's going to be
35:02fine down this main
35:03straight
35:04as now he targets
35:05with his better tyres
35:06of course
35:06and faster car
35:08Franco Colopinto
35:09Charles Leclerc in the
35:10background
35:10is making a move
35:11there on George Russell
35:12I think Charles Leclerc
35:13has gone ahead
35:14of George Russell
35:15and he has
35:16whilst Hamilton's
35:17trying to go
35:17for the Alpine
35:18Charles Leclerc is
35:19going for the Mercedes
35:20he's moved up
35:21into 5th place
35:22here
35:22this has been
35:23a much better restart
35:24for two Ferraris
35:25against George Russell
35:26it's been a decent
35:27restart
35:27for Kimi Antonelli
35:29who keeps out
35:30in the lead
35:30of this race
35:31Hamilton now
35:32just lining up
35:33Franco Colopinto
35:34what can he do
35:35on the exit here
35:36he's got to
35:37get past
35:37this slightly
35:39slower car
35:39in front of him
35:40at this stage
35:40where he can start
35:41to focus
35:41on the race leader
35:43Kimi Antonelli
35:43that's his real
35:44fight right now
35:45Hamilton
35:45but brilliant move
35:46by Leclerc
35:47and there goes
35:48Hamilton on the
35:49inside of turn 9
35:51we're going to
35:52grip
35:52yeah I think
35:53the Ferraris
35:53are getting more
35:54temperature into these
35:55hard tyres
35:55after that safety car
35:57as well
35:57we know it will
35:58come good
35:58for the Mercedes
35:59later on
36:00but this is the moment
36:01where Ferrari
36:02have to capitalise
36:03and they are
36:04you've got to
36:04nurse them
36:05you've got to
36:05hug them
36:06you've got to
36:06treat them gently
36:07but you've also
36:08got to get pace
36:09and you've got to
36:09make up places
36:10and that is not
36:11the easiest thing
36:12to do
36:12and George Russell
36:13is struggling
36:14but he will come back
36:15once he gets those tyres
36:17up to temperature
36:18and he's right on the
36:18tail of
36:21Charles Leclerc
36:22down that straight
36:23there goes Charles Leclerc
36:24actually making a move
36:25on Esteban Ocon
36:25Russell's just a little bit
36:26further back
36:27apologies there
36:29Colopinto
36:29still ahead of
36:30Hamilton
36:30down the inside
36:31Lindblad
36:31and Oli Behrman
36:33well they gave us
36:34a great fight
36:34in Melbourne
36:35they're doing it again
36:36Lindblad stays ahead
36:38of Oli Behrman
36:38Hülkenberg
36:39has way more experience
36:41than either of them
36:41and he's just sitting
36:42back waiting
36:43Lewis Hamilton
36:44now
36:44on Kimi Antonelli
36:46wow has he made up
36:47some time on that
36:48last lap
36:49and there's Charles Leclerc
36:50trying to go around
36:51the outside
36:52of Franco Colopinto
36:54who got picked off
36:55by Lewis Hamilton
36:56down at turn 8
36:57when Hamilton
36:57did the same
36:58with George Russell
36:59in the sprint yesterday
37:00out of the corner
37:01Charles Leclerc
37:02has got much better grip
37:04and he puts that
37:05to good use
37:06and he's up
37:07in 2 third
37:08meanwhile
37:08Verstappen
37:09on the tail
37:10of Gasly
37:10and Liam Lawson
37:11still trying to
37:12scrap away with him
37:13that was very mature
37:15actually from Colopinto
37:16there
37:16not to re-pass
37:17or even try to re-pass
37:18Leclerc
37:19because he had an opportunity
37:20to down into turn 6
37:21he's driving his own race
37:23here
37:23and I like to see that
37:24George Russell's
37:25got past Esteban Ocon
37:27but he's now dropped
37:28about 4 seconds
37:29just over 4 seconds
37:31behind his team mate
37:32Kimi Antonelli
37:32so he's lost quite a bit
37:34in that restart
37:35we've set it behind
37:36the safety car
37:36so far
37:37this is looking
37:39pretty comfortable
37:40for Kimi Antonelli
37:41if
37:42being pretty comfortable
37:43means you're being
37:44pursued
37:44at high speed
37:45by a 7 time world champion
37:47Hamilton
37:48getting a little bit
37:49excited there
37:50I can sense
37:51I can read the body language
37:52of the car
37:52and he loves
37:54hunting down
37:54a race leader
37:55that's where Hamilton
37:56is absolutely
37:57at his best
37:58but he's got to be careful
37:59of squeezing those tyres
38:01a bit too hard
38:02like he was in turn 11
38:03and 12
38:03what's going on here
38:04in midfield
38:05on Colopinto
38:06he makes that move
38:08Gasly
38:08on Hulkenberg
38:10he's making the move
38:11into the hairpin
38:12too
38:12Colopinto
38:13is down
38:13into 5th place
38:15by the way
38:16Behrman
38:17may feel like
38:18he was squeezed
38:18out wide
38:19perhaps
38:20from Lindblad
38:21through turn 14
38:22there was
38:23I think
38:23a little bit of contact
38:24we have to
38:24see if there's a replay
38:26later on
38:26when
38:27or
38:27if
38:28this race
38:29calms down
38:29at the front
38:30those two do love
38:31a scrap boat
38:32don't they
38:32oh yeah
38:32they love it
38:33to young
38:34British drivers
38:35Arvid Lindblad
38:37driving for racing bulls
38:3818 years of old
38:39Ollie Behrman
38:40the older statesman
38:41really at 20
38:41in that particular battle
38:43and we're on board
38:44with Lewis Hamilton
38:46at the age
38:47we shouldn't talk about age
38:49too much
38:49but at the age of 41
38:50Lewis Hamilton
38:52won't like you
38:52for that one
38:53he's still a spring chicken
38:54only as old
38:55as fast as you can go
38:58he's 14 years younger
38:59than me
38:59that's not old
39:01trust me
39:01out in front
39:03Kimi Antonelli
39:04youngest Grand Prix
39:05pole sitter
39:06in the history
39:08of Formula 1
39:09and he's got Lewis Hamilton
39:11right in his wing mirrors
39:13but I think he's judging
39:14the pace
39:14pretty well
39:16so far
39:16in this race
39:17he's driving brilliantly
39:18so far
39:19he hasn't lost
39:20his cool yet
39:20and he's using
39:22the speed of his car
39:23where he can
39:24where he knows
39:24he can keep
39:25the Ferrari at bay
39:27but Lewis Hamilton
39:27not giving up here
39:29whatsoever
39:30Antonelli
39:31got to be careful
39:32both of them
39:32have to be very careful
39:33not to just
39:35over push the car
39:36and then
39:37that might allow
39:38Leclerc and Russell
39:39to come back at them
39:40later on
39:40because it looks like
39:41they're driving
39:42a bit more strategic race
39:43right now
39:44and a bit more
39:45a bit kinder
39:46on their tyres
39:47as Gasly
39:48navigates his way
39:49through turn 14
39:50with the racing balls
39:51behind him
39:52is that Verstappen
39:53that is Verstappen
39:54yes
39:54he's caught up
39:55to this particular pack
39:57George Russell
39:58fastest man on track
40:00as he begins to
40:01hunt down his team mate's lead
40:02Max Verstappen
40:03with the active aero
40:04has Arvid Lindblad
40:06in his sights
40:07Max Verstappen
40:08into turn 1
40:09makes a much better fist of it
40:11on the hard tyre
40:12than he did on the soft tyre
40:13and we've got some
40:14double waved yellows
40:15currently
40:16in the final part
40:17of the lap
40:18so I wonder
40:18there's a bit of debris
40:19and maybe Perez
40:21and Alonso
40:22had a bit of a moment
40:23down there
40:24we shall see
40:25momentarily
40:26but definitely
40:26double waved yellows
40:27are out in force
40:30on lap 18
40:31of this Chinese
40:32Grand Prix
40:33which Kimi Antonelli
40:34leads
40:35from Lewis Hamilton
40:36we've had a safety car
40:38after
40:39just a few laps
40:42along stroll
40:43going off the track
40:44and stopping
40:45that allowed
40:46a lot of the runners
40:47to come in
40:48and change tyres
40:49top 4 all did that
40:52need more power mate
40:53we own it
40:54struggling a bit
40:55with the battery
40:55as Lewis Hamilton
40:56out there
40:57from recent radio messages
40:58Conor Pinto
40:59and Batman Ocon
41:00didn't come into the pits
41:02Lindblad didn't come
41:03into the pits
41:03neither did
41:04Hülkenberg
41:05or Fernando Alonso
41:07and we lost
41:08before the start
41:09Albon with hydraulics issue
41:10Bortoleto
41:11for a reason
41:12we don't know yet
41:13electrical issues
41:14for Norris
41:16and Piastri
41:17as in the distance
41:18I'm looking there
41:19down the straight
41:20to see a right old
41:21tussle into the hairpin
41:22I think that was
41:23Pierre Gasly
41:24it is Pierre
41:24Franco Colopinto
41:26and then Pierre Gasly
41:27two Alpines
41:28two Hasses
41:29on the inside
41:30of this corner
41:31Colopinto
41:32ahead of Esteban Ocon
41:34and behind these two
41:35Oli Behrman
41:36ahead of Pierre Gasly
41:38definitely fighting
41:39the Hasses today
41:40by the Alpines
41:41and what a race it is
41:42here comes Ocon again
41:43they've proven
41:44a bit of a hassle
41:45for the two Alpines
41:46out there currently
41:47Colopinto
41:48doing a sterling job though
41:50and running
41:51currently fifth
41:51was running as high
41:52as P2
41:53and I mentioned
41:55that we lost
41:56the two McLarens
41:56Piastri and Norris
41:58first time
41:58we've had a double
41:59did not start
42:00for both cars
42:01for McLarens
42:02Indianapolis
42:032005
42:05and just into the hairpin
42:08he's looking for a way
42:09around Ocon here
42:09he's switching around
42:10he can't quite
42:11get past
42:12but Verstappen
42:13has made the move
42:14on Pierre Gasly
42:15so he's going to come
42:16and join this fight
42:17in just a few moments time
42:18and Gasly
42:19I think has been noted
42:20for moving under braking
42:22that was close
42:23Colopinto could see
42:24that one coming
42:25and purposely
42:26ran his car wide
42:27through the flat out
42:29corner of turn 7
42:30and that really
42:31caught Ocon out
42:32who was
42:33yeah preparing
42:34for that move
42:35Colopinto read that
42:36very well
42:36but took it
42:37right to the limit
42:38all this time
42:39Max Verstappen
42:40who's lost that place
42:42to Pierre Gasly
42:43that he gained
42:43through turn 6
42:44he's going to have
42:45another go at it
42:46out of this corner
42:47here inevitably
42:48down this 1.2
42:49K
42:49a little bit
