00:00Ok so this brand is Willora or something like that. It says 1075 high carbon steel. It's a bushcraft knife.
00:17Very nice box and did not come with this sheath. This is a sheath that I purchased separately.
00:28But this is the knife. It is very plain very simple. Apparently 1075. I've already ground the spine to make
00:39it bushcrafty and stuff.
00:42So a little bit of grinding on the spine. It is Scandi with what appears to be possibly a itsy
00:50bitsy micro bevel which has been stropped.
00:58It came with a really cheesy nylon sheath. This is a factory edge. I don't normally test factory edges but
01:11this one was reasonably sharp. So I figure what the hell let's check it out with a factory edge.
01:19Don't normally do that. But the Scandi on this seems to be just a little bit better than normal.
01:31It's a reasonably thin sort of blade compared to Scandi's normally. A relatively high sort of grind there so it's
01:40probably a pretty low angle on it.
01:46So let's see what it does on the rope with a stropped factory edge. I did strop it so how
01:53many times do I have to say that?
02:25I'm not going to go.
02:26But it's not the same.
02:32And it'll be done.
02:44But I think there are a couple of things that I've got to do right back.
03:13You
03:25All right, looks like we found the failure point for the factory itch.
03:47It's a quick and dirty wood strop. Let's see what happens. Was it edge deformation or what? Okay, too fine.
04:01Yeah. I would say we suffered a little bit of edge deformation there.
04:19Okay, so I've given the handle a little bit of a sanding and I rolled over those edges.
04:29Then I've given it just a little bit of colour. I should have took the grips off but I was
04:36lazy.
04:38Ah, so it's got a bit of colour on the grips now. A little bit of funkiness going on there.
04:44The steel has been really, the edge I should say has been sharpened.
04:51I don't know if we can see that or not how it is but it's hollow ground for most and
04:59right here in the middle here it's where the thick section is.
05:03And same over here, the thick section is right here. Usually where the curve starts, for some strange reason, the
05:11scanned edge is thickened up.
05:14So it's been sharpened. I didn't go berserk on it. So it's pretty sharp. Like I said I didn't go
05:32nuts on it. I just put a nice clean fresh edge on there.
05:39So I didn't go to too much trouble in trying to do a micro convex on it.
05:46But I just want to see what a resharpened edge will do.
05:55Because I think it failed with a factory edge that was stropped a little bit. That was I think a
06:00250 I think. I haven't seen the video yet.
06:05And so we're going to see what it is now.
06:22.
08:22Oh, that was rough.
08:30Oh, that was rough.
08:33If we go finer.
08:39Oh, look at that.
08:41I'll call it at 450 because it definitely feels like it's rolling the apex.
09:10So, quick and dirty wood strop does what?
09:20Chalk and cheese.
09:22Chalk and cheese, that definitely was the apex deforming, rolling, whatever the hell you want
09:29to call it.
09:30That was definitely, definitely the apex doing a deformation.
09:35So, it's time to say, let's go.
09:36Okay.
09:36Let's go.
09:36Let's go.
