00:07it's been six months since Danny's back surgery and as his recovery progresses
00:11his attention can finally turn to creating the biggest and most ambitious
00:16riding film of his career with a huge Glasgow location secured Danny will
00:24spend the next six months creating and filming his ultimate ride
00:28I mean I feel like I'm a kid and I'm given like I don't know it's like the biggest toy
00:35ever
00:42Kelvin Hall was once the home of the Museum of Transport but with the vast space cleared out
00:47and due for demolition in nine months time it's provided Danny the perfect location to transform
00:53for his unique new riding film this project has been a massive learning curve for me and I've
01:00definitely feeling the pressure a lot more than I have on other projects because just really because
01:05my riding is not quite where I wanted to be just now it will be three months before the set
01:11for the new
01:11film is complete giving Danny the chance to finally start riding every day for the first time since his
01:17surgery it's cool to finally have my bike in the warehouse here last time I was here my friends
01:23were building some boxes look at them they're pretty cool
01:36I've also got my matey Duncan here all-round rad trials rider
01:45I'm not just here to kind of help out and move things around it's really cool not to have to
01:50ride
01:51straight in Glasgow when it's pouring my rain
01:59it's been a long few days a long few weeks it's nice to kind of finally start getting a little
02:05bit
02:05of health back you know like it's gone from me riding there once a week and you know having one
02:11good
02:11ride a week to being able to kind of ride almost every day yeah hopefully this is the beginning of
02:18something good he has had a serious back injury he has got problems and no one's saying he hasn't
02:23and I'm sitting on the doctors on but I think you know I don't think I think it's obvious that
02:28it's
02:29just part of this is to do with the pressure of the project and understandably so he's being given a
02:33blank sheet of paper to do what he wants and even though there's no pressure put on him from anybody
02:39else that means just puts himself under huge pressure I just hate riding in front of my camera and I'm
02:44not
02:44riding well imagine being in his shoes he's made three pretty pretty amazing films and done some
02:50incredible tricks and now we're in a position where you know he wants to step up he wants to do
02:54more and
02:55bigger and better regardless of everyone else's pressure he puts on himself Danny's idea for the
03:00new film is quite literally massive bringing a big idea to life demands a bigger production team
03:06than Danny's ever worked with before on the team got John and George from vision ramps and here
03:13they've built all these it's been it's been a little bit like working in the bike shop again it's me
03:22working Danny watching you know they're like kind of the concrete the cement to kind of make the whole
03:30project work yes what's going on here and making some props for Danny's imaginary world then I've got
03:41friends Nash and Duncan he pretends to do a bit of work but he's not really
03:48what are you talking about look how clean his clothes are you know these projects don't happen
03:56without extremely good friends that really help me out I've got Mike Christian producing the whole
04:02clip with Rachel and his team as well yeah we've got Wesley Cameron who's the project manager who's
04:09just kind of keeping everything moving after ruling all the different names off it's by far the biggest
04:16production I've ever been involved in stews you know direct in the clip you know she's been a good
04:21friend for a number of years now we made industrial revolutions together in 2011 which was which was
04:28really fun so it's gonna be good fun working with them again it actually probably towards the end of
04:332011 we'd obviously come off the back of work doing the industrial revolutions film he decided he was
04:38going to do a new project it was going to be something different and I think he was just over
04:41my house
04:41you know and he's sort of like it'd be cool for you to be involved and you know there was
04:45no
04:45there was literally no talk of any of what it's turned into now you know I'm feeling the pressure
04:50now to try to produce the writing you know everyone else is putting all their work so it's
04:55going to be my turn soon to push his skills to new levels Danny must ride at every opportunity
04:59and there's no shortage of people willing to join him today he'll be braving Glasgow's weather and
05:05hitting the streets with good friend and riding legend Martin Ashton Martin's coming all the way up the road
05:12um and I thought we'd go out do some street riding in sunny Glasgow so this this spot's probably one
05:17of the sort of go-to spots and in Glasgow I've seen this on some videos I think actually yeah
05:23it's good
05:23yeah it was in the living for the city part and stuff so it's uh it's just good fun fun
05:30little spot and
05:31you're used to this weather this is standard this is this is a good day in Glasgow my feet are
05:36soaking
05:38let's get some riding done
05:43sudden sun's coming out
05:47so
05:58so
05:59so
06:00so
06:00so
06:09Let's go.
06:46It's been really wicked riding with Danny I mean I know he's a younger rider than me
06:50but he's weirdly one of my heroes too so to see it all live he's got he's got some
06:55amazing skills and their unique skills which is what's really nice I wish I
06:59could do some of them I'll go home and practice a little bit but yeah they're
07:02sort of maybe I'll leave it to him actually there are some tricks for the
07:06new film that Danny won't be able to perfect on Scottish streets some of the
07:10biggest he's ever tried to master back at Kelvin Hall the team have taken
07:15delivery of an essential piece of kit to help Danny realize his ambitions we've
07:20got Peter over from back jump showing us how to kind of set up definitely
07:26exciting day for the the kind of project and for riding because I'm gonna learn
07:32all the tricks that I've kind of always wanted to do which is good so I've got my
07:36present opener
07:47now I've never been on a body jump beer bike so I'm pretty excited about it
07:51definitely they're the best in the business so
07:55I'm pretty excited myself actually it's a it's a custom model that we especially made for Danny
08:0110 by 10 there's your bigger size than the standard sizes so um yeah see what
08:07happens hope it works look at the size of it the modern day ones are pretty
08:13sophisticated as you can see but it's pretty awesome to have it in here for
08:18the next few months to learn some new tricks hopefully look at this beast I'm just
08:24thinking of a thousand different ways I want to use this airbag so I would say we're gonna blow
08:32up the bags so we can switch on okay
08:46yeah it's flipping awesome like look at it
08:50it's something pretty cool about this it's been very hard to kind of to think creatively when I've
08:55been in the middle of recovery as well I am still I'm quite worried about actually producing
09:00the writing for it I can only do my best yeah it's never good enough unfortunately
09:08it's like being 10 years old again throughout pre-production Danny's film idea has been kept a
09:14closely guarded secret but as the set begins to take shape he and Stu need to leave the warehouse and
09:20go in search of some of the bigger props they need and it may take some explaining this is seriously
09:28cool ah just trying to decide what time we want
09:53we've got a week till we start filming yeah it is what has come together now
09:59kind of what was in your head when you first thought it yeah is it looking similar I think I
10:05think so
10:06months ago we're sitting in meetings with you and your your sketchbook figuring out how we can turn
10:10that what's in your head into like into a film and now we're like right there yeah I think the
10:19thing
10:19for me that's a bit weird is like you kind of like go oh we can just get a tank
10:26and I could ride along the
10:26turret yeah as if it's like quite a normal thing yeah where is this this is quite a normal thing
10:35obviously not good it's not the tank not the tank part but if this is a setup in the street
10:39then I
10:41would ride it every day you know like obviously not a tank but if this was like a railing and
10:45that
10:45was a wall but for you it's kind of like it's totally in your comfort zone for riding yeah I
10:50think
10:50so as long as my tires grip on it more importantly I just want to have this in that I
10:55just want to be
10:55able to ride it it's cool this is ridiculous ah what do you want I think we'll get a tank
11:03in
11:50this is the stuff that was in my kind of daydreams yeah the stuff that was when I was drawing
11:54my
11:54little bit this is a this this thing right here was like I have a cool to get a tank
11:58yeah you nervous
12:01yeah are you genuinely Danny's first three riding films were each unique in their own way but none
12:16had the ambition of his new project and after over a year of planning and preparation the cameras
12:24finally begin to roll on Danny's new film the concept remains a closely guarded secret so as
12:30filming begins the location goes into lockdown it will take 60 long shooting days to capture the film
12:41assuming Danny doesn't get injured along the way it's been a very hard few months it's an exciting time
12:48you know kind of almost their lights at the end of the tunnel and it's a matter of just sort
12:56of
12:56everybody linking together and bringing their expertise to the table and at the end of the day
13:01it will be what we see on film will be the proof of that pudding but that's yet to come
13:05it's been good
13:07seeing him getting back on the bike actually last few weeks it's been exciting to watch what we've done
13:14now is a completely different kind of riding because riding on the street you find an object and you
13:18interpret that object in your own creative style in here you're using your own creativity to to build that
13:26object and come up with what you want to ride on it it's actually turned on its head for Danny
13:30because he's made it endlessly difficult for himself as well just really want to make something that
13:37we're proud of and everyone's involved to be kind of thinking well this has been really so worth it
13:42you know and if that's the case if we're proud of it then hopefully it'll go out to the to
13:47serve
13:47to everyone else and they'll like it
