00:00What are we looking at, Suze?
00:02We are just looking at today's short locations.
00:05We've got Alcatraz in the background.
00:08Whenever you think of San Fran, you always think of those famous steep streets,
00:12seeing the trolleys driving up and down them.
00:15It's what San Fran is, so going to go to one of the steep streets and set up a trick
00:19was pretty dreamy.
00:26San Francisco is known for its hills.
00:28It's really important for the residents of San Francisco because we have to walk up the hills all the time,
00:33so everybody's in fantastic shape.
00:37Another day, another dollar.
00:38What are you doing, James?
00:39This is called, this is, you know CrossFit? This is beyond CrossFit.
00:43What we're going to do is take some railroad ties and first we hoist it over our head and then
00:49we do a squat.
00:50And next I'm going to run down that hill and then back up with this over my head.
00:55Let me know when you're cutting.
00:56Go on.
00:57Nah, I'm not cutting.
00:58That's video, don't think.
01:00Are you going to regret that?
01:02He's going to what?
01:03It was a lot easier on the way down.
01:06You joked him out.
01:10Go on man.
01:11That's the easy way out.
01:12Just like.
01:15I'm not doing the lose.
01:21Go on James, faster.
01:24That was a stupid idea.
01:28How is your practical joke there James?
01:31Well it really came back to bite me in the ass Robbie, I'm not going to lie.
01:35I'm going to think twice about it.
01:37Oh f**k I need to sit down.
01:44Are you alright?
01:46Today's planned stunt is a front flip into the street using a bump to catch the back wheel and send
01:54Danny into a spin.
01:55And land somewhere down there.
01:57Confident Daniel?
02:01No.
02:02No I'm not.
02:03Pretty gnarly trick.
02:06I think in the last couple of days the sort of whole projects maybe caught up on Danny a little
02:10bit.
02:10Just so much time has gone into it.
02:14So much resources from everyone.
02:17And then obviously the risk involved.
02:20I think Danny's just kind of.
02:23Yeah.
02:24Just struggling really.
02:24It's hard to get.
02:25It's totally understandable.
02:26It's a pretty scary line.
02:27So I'm just shiting a bit for this one.
02:30Yeah.
02:32This one's pretty scary.
02:35You got some good practice in on it or?
02:37No, not really.
02:38No, we tried.
02:39The risk on the bump front flip is kind of not, it's not very pleasant.
02:45Let's say the idea of crashing one.
02:46Because if you, if you hit the planter too hard then it tends to make you under rotate.
02:52Your feet come off the pedals and then you land really hard sitting down.
02:57And even if you land onto mats it's enough to give you a sore head when your brain rattles in
03:03your skull.
03:04And then if you try to take off too early and you miss the planter which is very easy to
03:10do especially when you're a little bit scared of the move.
03:14Then it's pretty much like doing a diving head first from flip to concrete.
03:20And again onto the mat I actually broke a few helmets.
03:23Practicing in the warehouse broke the kind of insides of them under rotate or missing the take off.
03:30So I had that all in the back of my mind.
03:33And the idea of trying to do it onto like proper concrete was pretty terrifying.
03:47It's always like easy I just can't imagine I'll ever.
03:49That was fast.
03:50That'll go.
03:51I think it's a lot more chilled than we expected.
03:53I think Danny was quite worried about it being too steep.
03:55Because in the warehouse he was doing it flat to flat and it was way quicker.
03:59So he was going way further.
04:00But now you can chill a little bit more, hit it and actually use some of the gradient to land.
04:05So I think it's on.
04:13That was wild good.
04:14That was wild good.
04:16There.
04:17He wants it.
04:19This is basically our turning point in the project.
04:21The last push.
04:25Yeah.
04:26He's like reluctant to admit that it's going well.
04:30He's like, yeah, yeah, Jay.
04:31Nah, it's good.
04:32Yeah, actually like, yeah.
04:34I mucked it up as well.
04:46I'm really confident actually.
04:48Had my doubts this morning if I'm honest.
04:50But I think it's turned around.
04:52And it's going to be pretty exciting.
04:55Excited to see the first shot of the film get captured today.
05:04Yeah.
05:08Yeah.
05:10Yeah.
05:23Yeah.
05:25Yeah.
05:29So sick.
05:30Cheers boys.
05:30Boom.
05:31Nailed it.
05:32First try.
05:33I know.
05:33Holy.
05:34That was good.
05:35I'm pleased with that.
05:36That was actually pretty exciting.
05:38Good effort.
05:39That was flipping sick.
05:40The number of attempts.
05:41I should have said one on this one.
05:43Nobody asked me.
05:44I would have said one.
05:45Very cool.
05:46Stucked.
05:47Almost a little real.
05:49Well we get that.
05:49It's so good.
05:52It's because Seeger's got his lucky dungarees on.
05:54Lucky dungarees every day for the rest of them.
05:57There was some serious power today, wasn't there?
05:59There's just a lyricism about this.
06:03It's just so faint and light.
06:04It sort of dances on your tongue like a melody.
06:07You reach out to grasp it but it escapes you.
06:11It's so light.
06:14This is God.
06:15It's God speaking to you through donut.
06:18Alright.
06:19Have you ever seen Amadeus?
06:21James has been my right hand man on this whole thing
06:24and it's been great to have a local here that he puts on Mission Crit
06:28and really understands the local landscape as far as cycling
06:31and has connections all over the city.
06:34He's been doing everything from operating the crane to just organizing logistics.
06:38Keeps everything ticking along.
06:40Keeps us well fed.
06:42Bit of a hype man as well.
06:43Keep the morale up when it's needed.
06:46I just really, you know, try to find the stoke in everything that I do.
06:50They called me and asked me if I was available to help out on this project.
06:54They said, we're doing a film with Danny McCaskill.
06:56And I said, Danny who?
06:58They said, look on YouTube.
06:59So I looked and I saw that this guy had a couple views on YouTube
07:02and I said, you know what?
07:04I'm going to make him a star.
07:06Yeah, he's really good fun.
07:08Really good energy.
07:10And most importantly, he knows where all the good food spots are.
07:13So he's been keeping us well fed.
07:15That's for sure.
07:15Same thing as the most part, right?
07:17He's trying to keep the crew healthy, but James is making it pretty hard for me.
07:23Not just a donut each, but...
07:27I don't even know what this is. A donut banquet?
07:29The food in San Francisco is out of this world.
07:33It's some of the best food I've eaten.
07:34It's definitely kept everyone positive and kept everyone having a good time.
07:40Apparently Robbie has been going behind my back to eat ice cream without my knowledge,
07:45even after I told him that I want to go get ice cream with him.
07:49What a jackass.
07:51I think even though I've been riding every single day,
07:55I'm still putting on weight because the food's been so good, so...
07:58That's it, boys.
08:00We've been in America for four weeks and we feel fat,
08:04so we're doing some last minute exercises.
08:07We'll get one more time.
08:12Here we go.
08:14Oh, please, plank.
08:17I can see what's coming up next.
08:18I know some of them, but I know what plank is.
08:21One.
08:24Nailed it.
08:29On the northwest tip of San Fran there's a really cool little beach called China Beach.
08:33It's a bit of a hidden gem, really.
08:35It has just a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge
08:37and an old dilapidated building that used to be a...
08:42I think it was a swim club.
08:43It's the perfect place for Danny to do a line.
08:49Just watching together my landing.
08:52Looks quite good from the top, actually.
08:53It looks big from down here.
08:54It's all about having that drop into this life.
08:57Art department.
08:59Build.
09:01Really just do all these things.
09:09What?
09:10It just...
09:12Show you that maybe sometimes...
09:14This is why we're here.
09:16I mean, there's some writing here.
09:18But that's by the vibe.
09:19We've got this in the background.
09:22So that's really why we're here.
09:31Yes!
09:32Yes!
09:32Yes!
09:32Yes!
09:33It's really doing something on your bike that I can't even do on my feet.
09:36I'd say it's like so on my limit.
09:39It's pretty wild if you just did that on your feet then.
09:41Well, I can't do it on my feet.
09:42I can't really well do it on my bike.
09:45It's considerably hard.
09:46Imagine my feet are...
09:47My feet are over the edge when I land on the back wheel.
09:50So I'm basically...
09:51My feet are like over the drop and then I've got to...
09:55Basically use all my body weight to try and heave the handlebars back so that you don't
09:59go over the handlebars.
10:00Danny is practicing.
10:02It's quite...
10:03I mean, it looks quite high actually.
10:04That's it.
10:06If he does it like that, no issues.
10:09If he does it slightly differently...
10:14If you don't want to be dropping the front wheel down that gap, it's going to be horrible.
10:31I keep on going like two inches too far.
10:34Which is like...
10:35Just a little bit unnerving.
10:54Yes!
10:55Woo!
10:55Here we go!
10:56How are you doing there Seega?
10:57Are you okay?
10:59So Seega's got a prime spot for shooting this clip.
11:02However, we didn't take into consideration the tide.
11:06And the tide is coming in.
11:08So he started building a trench.
11:09And I think he's building another one because it's about to fill up.
11:17I think it's about to get wet.
11:31Hell yeah!
11:32You got it?
11:33Got it!
11:33Nailed it!
11:34Yeah!
11:36Can we get Seega out of his little moat or are we going to leave him there?
11:42Can we not just tell him that he has to stay there for a bit longer?
11:45We're going to do a few more.
11:48Next time on Back of the Postcard.
11:51I swear it's getting worse.
11:52He's smiling!
11:54He's smiling!
11:54He's smiling!
11:54He's like half a crazy man, half a Zen Buddhist.
11:575am.
11:59We're heading back over for the last trick of the film.
12:02Oh, my God.
12:06Oh, he's got it.
12:08Welcome to hell.
12:10Welcome to hell.
