00:00You're fired. You're fired. You've completely messed it up. You're fired.
00:12Previously on The Apprentice...
00:14Welcome to Egypt.
00:16Wow.
00:17Priyash's desert dinner...
00:18It's very spicy.
00:21...left a bitter taste.
00:23The rice is completely undercooked.
00:25Oh, I've got a spogging bum already.
00:27For Megan's team...
00:29It's nice to be on the water, isn't it?
00:30No, I hate it.
00:31A sinking feeling...
00:33It was vile. I just wasn't prepared for this.
00:35And in the boardroom...
00:36One of the worst performances in the history of this process.
00:40A bloodbath.
00:42So all three of you are fired.
00:44No way.
00:45Triple firing.
00:47I think he's clearly getting rid of the dead weight now.
00:575 a.m.
01:01Good morning.
01:02Good morning.
01:03Lord Sugar would like to meet you at Mars Volume.
01:06The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
01:08Lovely. See you there.
01:12Let's go, Mars!
01:15Let's go, Mars!
01:17We're going to Mars Volume...
01:19What?
01:19...in 20 minutes.
01:20Well, I think the boys are going to be fighting for the spot on PM today.
01:25I think definitely there's a turn in the tide, so I'm excited.
01:29Karishma, would you be putting yourself up today?
01:31For PM?
01:31Yeah.
01:32I reckon I give some people a chance to catch up.
01:34Well, now at PM, I won by a mile, I almost won the show.
01:37That's not true.
01:46Halfway, mate, not a bad start.
01:48I think it's starting to feel even more real.
01:50You get one mistake here and I think you're gone.
01:54In north-west London, state-of-the-art studio, Mars Volume.
02:03Offering a virtual backdrop and a world of possibility.
02:12Welcome to Amsphere, the future of fitness.
02:17Go!
02:20Oh, insane.
02:22Run!
02:24London has been stormed by aliens.
02:28Oh, this is fun!
02:31To make it to safety, you'll have to reach the ballroom.
02:35Whoa.
02:37That's so cool.
02:38Jump.
02:39That is sick.
02:40Strike.
02:41Go on, hit him.
02:42Hit him.
02:45Foul.
02:46Stop it.
02:49Oh, my God, it's the ballroom.
02:54Ah, you made it.
02:56Just in time.
02:57I see your heart rates are up.
02:59The digital fitness market is worth 1.7 billion to the UK economy.
03:06And a growing part of that is what's known as gamified fitness.
03:11Using these revolutionary VR treadmills, you'll need to brand your game, create an avatar and an introductory video.
03:20You're going to present your concept to a panel of investors.
03:25The team that secures the most investment will win.
03:29And on the losing team, at least one of you will be fired.
03:34Good morning.
03:36Lord Sugar would like to mix the teams up.
03:38So, would Pasha, Lawrence and Levi please swap with Kieran and Harry?
03:50All clear?
03:51All clear.
03:53Off you go.
03:55Teams have two days to build and brand a virtual fitness game.
04:00Does it feel strenuous?
04:01I think, yeah, it definitely gets tiring, for sure.
04:04Before pitching to industry experts.
04:07Do I look legit?
04:08Go on, Levi.
04:09You know what, I could go on gladiators after this.
04:12First for both teams.
04:14So, guys, fitness VR.
04:16Pick a player one.
04:18Who's up for project manager?
04:20Oh, I would like to put myself over as PM.
04:22I do indulgent fitness and graphics and stuff is my thing.
04:26Editing and all of that kind of stuff.
04:28Have you done virtual reality before?
04:29I have done virtual reality before.
04:31And I do dabble in gaming and coding.
04:33I think you're the best fit, as you have experience.
04:36I mean, I think, Harry, you've not been project manager yet,
04:39so it could be your time to shine.
04:41Yeah, I was about to say, like, fitness has changed my life.
04:44I love fitness.
04:44I run a lot.
04:46I don't know anything about VR.
04:47I'm not going to lie, I've never done it.
04:48It was the first time I ever used it.
04:49But, yeah, fitness is something that is a big part of my life.
04:52We have to vote on it, I suppose.
04:54Who votes for Krishna?
04:55All in favour of Harry?
04:58Cool.
04:58Right, done.
05:00I voted for Krishna as project manager.
05:03She's a gamer.
05:04She knows VR.
05:05She knows branding.
05:06It's like the perfect task for her.
05:08But people vote for Harry.
05:10Who goes for runs?
05:12Yeah, well, it's a pleasure, guys.
05:13Thank you very much.
05:14So I think we've got a really strong team.
05:18I worked on a gamified launch for a product a few years back.
05:24I obviously do like gaming.
05:29So my idea for the game was for aerobics.
05:32Within that idea as well, you know how different apps have rewards for logging in each day?
05:36Yep.
05:37I want people to be rewarded as they grow with the programme.
05:40I really like the idea of actually people being able to get reduced life insurance.
05:45Realistic rewards.
05:46So if you're doing your aerobics every day, you get reduced life insurance because you're looking after yourself.
05:50So, Lawrence, what is the actual concept of the game so I can write it down?
05:54What we're trying to develop is something that can really get people into fitness and meet people where they're at.
05:57I've given you the framework to work within because I want you to use your creativity.
06:01I don't want to just sit there and dictate things all day.
06:04Is there anything from that that's unclear?
06:07Lawrence has put himself forward as project manager, but I haven't heard him give his team any direction about what
06:12they should really be delivering.
06:14Apart from Lawrence's very broad and vague framework about a game filled with incentives, including life insurance.
06:21Lawrence, can I really just quickly mention, do you think we know enough about how you want this game to
06:26be developed?
06:26Because personally, I don't think we know anything as to how this is going to be put.
06:32On the other team.
06:34So my initial idea was running, and I think it is the most accessible.
06:38All on the same level.
06:39From a gaming perspective, I think futuristic, robotics, like things that are out there in the future.
06:46The cyber world or the dystopian environment.
06:48Yeah, that's quite cool.
06:50Harry's team.
06:51We have a track.
06:53Yeah.
06:53And, you know, you're running your meeting obstacles.
06:56And then at the end, you discover a final boss.
06:58Yeah.
06:59Heading to this is the goal.
07:01Defeating this is the win.
07:02Yeah.
07:02Well, what do you guys think?
07:03I would play that.
07:04I mean, to be honest, Christian's got the experience in gaming, so I think that makes a lot of sense.
07:08If you feel comfortable winning, I think it's good.
07:10Harry has been democratic and he's listened to his entire team.
07:13I think if Harry can keep a thorough plan the whole way through this task, I do have faith that
07:18Harry will carry us through to victory.
07:20Have you given any thought to how you want the PT to look or anything like that?
07:24Next door.
07:25If we go for aerobics, I don't mind stepping in to be the PT for that one.
07:29Yeah.
07:29Personal trainer picked.
07:31So, to be clear, Levi's quite comfortable being the PT and that's something that I think is quite important.
07:36Project manager Lawrence puts people in their place.
07:41Is there anyone that wants to put themselves on the game development team?
07:43I wouldn't even know where to start even developing a game, to be honest.
07:47Like, the only experience I have is home workouts.
07:49I don't have the experience in VR.
07:52All right.
07:53I'm going to put myself on the branding team and I was going to take Levi with me.
07:58The game development is the essential part of this, right?
08:02With it being your idea, you being on the game development is make or break for how you want it
08:06to be.
08:06Can I just add to that?
08:08And the game development team will be creating the fitness game, which is what we will be showing to you.
08:12I do understand.
08:13But you are trusting on us when we're still a little bit, I'm sure.
08:17This is your idea.
08:17I mean, both of you have an idea of what gaming looks like.
08:20Yeah, but this isn't my idea.
08:22I think I've put the right people in the right place.
08:25I think regardless who was on the sub team, no one has experience in building a game.
08:29So, whoever's there, we just need the sub team to step up and take some ownership.
08:34We've got Krishma as sub team leader, Kieran and Connor on the game development side.
08:39So, let's do it.
08:40Well done, guys.
08:41Let's go.
08:4411am.
08:45While half of each team gets a workout on branding.
08:49I'm excited to be project manager.
08:50I think, you know, it's been a long time coming.
08:52But I think we've got this.
08:52Let's do this.
08:54Bish bash bosh.
08:56The rest will build a demo of their game.
09:00I am quite frustrated, guys.
09:01I don't know if you can tell.
09:03I just, honestly, I just feel like it was a bit of a car crash in there.
09:06Yep.
09:07This is his thing.
09:08Literally, he's done it before.
09:09Do you know what?
09:09Like, if this is such a strong vision for yourself, why don't you develop it?
09:14Yeah.
09:33Yeah.
09:34Power up a winning name.
09:37The couple of names I've got is like, go get it.
09:40Okay.
09:41Or go get fit.
09:43Yeah.
09:43I really like that.
09:45I really do.
09:46My only concern with that is, is I really want it to say exactly what it does.
09:50What it says on time.
09:51Yeah.
09:51Or could go on that like, just house fit or fit house.
09:55My only problem with that, I completely understand what you're saying, but that could be anything
09:59within that.
10:00Um, what about just aerobics VR?
10:04Yeah.
10:05I think that's too bland.
10:08Um, so should we get it on the screen?
10:11We're going to go with aerobics life VR.
10:13I want aerobics life in black.
10:16No, I would have said red.
10:18I'm keen on the red, actually.
10:19I think that will pop.
10:21Can we stick a box around it just whilst we're here?
10:23Get rid of box.
10:26I think the box makes it clear that it's a logo.
10:31Lawrence has got an idea of what he wants.
10:33So I just got to support him as much as I can.
10:35Hopefully I'm just not being brought along for the ride.
10:37I don't want to participate and put some input into this.
10:39But we'll just have to see how the day goes.
10:41I think we've worked really well together there.
10:43Yeah.
10:43I'm loving the synergy already.
10:44This is exactly what I was hoping for.
10:48Across the hall, I got a race to the top.
10:52Um, is that all right with you guys?
10:53Yeah.
10:54For project manager Harry.
10:56Um, so next is our logo.
10:58A chance to take the lead.
11:02I was thinking we could have race to the top underneath.
11:05Like this?
11:06Race to the top.
11:08Oh, I like that.
11:08So we're happy with the logo design.
11:10We need to choose colours.
11:11I think when you think of cyber, you think of green.
11:13I think green could be an option.
11:14I mean, mate, I was going to go for blue, maybe.
11:18Great.
11:18So I know you've both made your suggestions.
11:20Yeah.
11:20And I think they're great.
11:21Um, I personally, I like the green.
11:23I think it's a sign of health.
11:24It's a sign of go.
11:25And I know you like the blue, Dan.
11:26I think they could work quite well together.
11:28Yeah.
11:29Do you think blue and green we could go with?
11:30Yeah.
11:30Do we agree on that?
11:31Um, I agree.
11:32I think that's fine.
11:33What about you?
11:33Yeah.
11:34You happy with that, Dan?
11:35Yeah.
11:35Okay.
11:36Yeah, can we try that, please?
11:39Harry makes a better team player than he does a project manager.
11:43He is not managing anything.
11:45He's doing everything by consensus.
11:47Well, a happy camp is good, but a winning camp is better.
11:51We've done well, though.
11:52I think it's a real team effort.
11:53Yeah.
11:53Um, we've got something that looks good enough, I think.
11:59Parachute Studios.
12:00There's no theme.
12:01We don't have, like, a storyline.
12:03Hoping to hit start on their game design.
12:06I know that he wanted this reward scheme to be in place.
12:09But it just threw us off, to be honest.
12:10That, I feel like, will lose the people playing the game.
12:13I feel like that's boring.
12:14Yeah.
12:15Rothner, Pasha and Rajan.
12:18I feel like there needs to be an overall purpose in this.
12:20We knew in the morning demo that we saw that she was fighting
12:24to get to the boardroom, she was peeling off baddies.
12:26Yeah, there was an end point.
12:27There was an end.
12:27The idea of running away from a baddie in itself promotes fitness.
12:31Yeah.
12:31Okay, this is just a wild idea.
12:33Please do disagree with it.
12:34Yeah.
12:34Why can't it be, like, weird animals?
12:37Yeah.
12:38Because it makes it more, like, exciting.
12:39There was a weird, like, alien water creature.
12:44And it's like, we're going to get raided by this alien weird creature.
12:47Like, frog monsters have just landed.
12:49And then suddenly, from the bushes,
12:51if you could get the frogs starting to come out.
12:53You're running for your life.
12:55These frogs are coming at you.
12:56So why not just start it off with a bang?
12:59I think we're just trying to make the best of a bad situation at the moment.
13:02We left this morning's brief with absolutely no storyboard.
13:06So I think we're just really trying hard to think on the spot.
13:09But then, hang on.
13:10Is this getting away from aerobics?
13:12It feels a bit adventurous.
13:14Do you know what I mean?
13:18On the other team...
13:19So, guys, this is what I've kind of got in my head, right?
13:22...gaming fan Karishma...
13:24Earth is extinct, essentially.
13:26There's, like, humans surviving.
13:28It's an apocalypse.
13:28A robot apocalypse.
13:29Absolutely.
13:30...races ahead.
13:32We're gonna start off with flying cars...
13:34Cool.
13:34...collapsing buildings.
13:36We're gonna have...
13:36Who's driving the flying cars if it's an open world?
13:39I don't know.
13:40It's the future.
13:41They fly themselves like Teslas.
13:43Scene two, we're gonna insert our first obstacle.
13:46Mm-hmm.
13:46So he now encounters a falling building that's gonna destroy his path.
13:50He has no choice but to jump.
13:51Scene three, he finds more robotic spider creature thingies.
13:56They're on pendulums.
13:57They're coming in.
13:58We're gonna make it as, like, visually interactive as possible.
14:01And that will lead us into the final boss,
14:04who will be defeated by one powerful punch.
14:07It's clear to me that Karishma is a keen gamer
14:10because she knows a lot about the elements of different games
14:13that make them engaging.
14:14She storyboarded the idea, 99% of which the ideas are hers.
14:19I mean, really, Kieran and Connor should just wait in the car.
14:25Yeah.
14:26Mid-afternoon.
14:27So our game name is...
14:29Race to the Top.
14:30That's actually really great for us.
14:32What does the character look like?
14:34So we're about to start making the character.
14:36Just remember, this isn't a game for kids.
14:37This is definitely, like, 15 plus.
14:39So try to make this a mature character.
14:41Do not make it childish whatsoever.
14:43Hi, guys.
14:44Hello.
14:45Also at a checkpoint...
14:46How are you guys?
14:48Laurence's team.
14:50Stress.
14:50A little bit of stress.
14:51This is really stressful.
14:52This is very difficult.
14:53None of us have really designed a game before, but we're trying.
14:56Just to summarise, what we've done is...
14:57I know it sounds really silly.
14:59Frogs that are coming to chase you.
15:02Is there any sort of incorporation of the reward structure?
15:05Was that just not possible?
15:06I know it doesn't sound like it with these frog elements, but...
15:08The rewards is, like, obviously, you're saving an endangered area.
15:13I mean, we've tried to incorporate a really fun game.
15:16I know that in the brief, there wasn't much mention.
15:19In terms of the game element, we really struggled to come up with something that was going to make the
15:23aerobics fun.
15:24OK.
15:25All right.
15:25All right.
15:27Listen, I hate to pick out negatives.
15:29It's just the constant deflecting of, you know, you said in the morning this, and it's just...
15:35Just leave that out.
15:37Let's just crack on with it.
15:41Central London.
15:41We need to have a think about now who our PT's going to be.
15:45Stepping through a personal trainer to front their racing game.
15:48We can literally create whatever we want.
15:50Because nothing's right, nothing's wrong.
15:53Harry's branding boys.
15:55Dan, what do you think?
15:57I would go down the creature route and make it look very action-like.
16:01Gordon, can we just start with that, if that's OK?
16:03Yeah, of course.
16:04Oh, no.
16:05Get rid of those.
16:06At the moment, it looks like it's about to kill someone.
16:08Obviously, we want the creature to look happy.
16:10Yeah, it needs to be a friendly creature.
16:13Yeah.
16:13I think something like this.
16:14Yeah, an AI robot with hair.
16:17Nice.
16:18I quite like that.
16:19Actually, that's OK.
16:20Do we want to try and put a smart watch on there?
16:22I think that'll look quite cool.
16:25Purple hair and a headband to show that it's doing sports.
16:28Are they going to have a top on?
16:29Yeah, maybe.
16:30I mean...
16:31I think that could work.
16:32Yeah.
16:33OK, that's done.
16:35I think we should reduce the breast bit, just to make it a bit more flat,
16:39because at the moment it's a bit, you know, out there.
16:47On the other team...
16:48So what I'm thinking is T-shirt with our logo in the centre of it on a white background.
16:53Oh, mate.
16:54Yeah?
16:54When Lord Sugar asks you what you've done this week, you're going to have a long list to give him.
16:58I love it.
16:59Yeah.
16:59Lined up for the part of personal trainer...
17:02Brilliant.
17:02Shhh.
17:02Yeah, let's just crack straight into the script.
17:04Military man, Levi.
17:07Hi, I'm Petey, the personal trainer.
17:09Great to meet you.
17:10I'm here to help you reach your goals, to give you more flexibility, more rewards and more life.
17:15So, in terms of the delivery, are you confident with it?
17:21Yeah.
17:22Or do you...
17:22I'm really confident with this in terms of sort of just acting out and talking.
17:26I'm happy to go ahead with it.
17:28Erm, when it's coming to it now, I have got a little bit more experience.
17:33I think I've got quite a neutral accent.
17:35Well, the main reason I was here was for this bit.
17:38Naturally, I think you want to do it.
17:40Yeah.
17:40Erm, would you be alright with me pushing ahead with it, just because I'm sort of quite comfortable with the
17:46acting?
17:47I would be a bit annoyed with that.
17:49It is a bit like a bit of a stab, really.
17:52I would be disappointed in your shoes. I would be disappointed.
17:54I am.
17:55I know.
17:57I feel honestly like I shot a puppy when I told Levi he wasn't going to be doing the acting.
18:02I think he would have done a good job.
18:03I just had to back myself in that moment because, ultimately, if we don't win, it's my head that's going
18:08to be first on the chopping block.
18:113pm.
18:11We want two coming in.
18:13Yeah.
18:15While Harry's gaming crew...
18:17So, right now, we're ducking under the eagles and collecting our gold coins as we go along.
18:22Head for the finish line.
18:23We're going to work our way up the skyscraper and we are out to level two.
18:27Run, jump into the portal, level two.
18:30What if we just introduce the aliens straight away?
18:33On Team Aerobics...
18:34They've got to run to the first checkpoint with the aliens around them.
18:37And the checkpoint could be the place where they have to do the lunges or high knees or whatever it
18:43is.
18:43It's a glitch.
18:46Yeah.
18:46It's very adventurous, isn't it?
18:48So, what would be your suggestion?
18:51Erm...
18:52Because, think in the back of your mind, you're pitching it to investors.
18:54It has to be a fun...
18:55It's not just combining fitness.
18:57It's combining gaming as well.
18:58I don't know where this whole alien thing comes to be honest, but I'm just...
19:00What I'm trying to say is...
19:01So, Rajan, I'm going to basically just clarify.
19:04I personally feel like it sounds like you've got a little bit more gaming experience.
19:08I know it's not exactly this.
19:09I don't have a gaming experience.
19:11Just because I've played a game doesn't mean I'm a gamer.
19:13Yeah, but it's still a lot more than what I have done.
19:16I'm just working with you.
19:16If you baked a bread, I wouldn't call you Mr Kipling.
19:17Yeah, but...
19:18OK, Rajan, there's literally no need for that.
19:20Don't let it like...
19:21I'm just not a gamer.
19:22OK, look, I'm just going to say to you, I do feel like...
19:24I understand you're getting frustrated.
19:27All I'm asking is, this isn't my area either, but we're all trying.
19:30Absolutely.
19:30We need your input.
19:34Erm...
19:34I feel a bit intrigued by that session, to be honest.
19:37I did find it quite frustrating that Rajan...
19:39He will give criticism without giving any alternatives.
19:43I don't feel like he did enough.
19:45Instead of lunges, should we do punches in the air?
19:48So, guys, I am here, but you can ask me as well, Pash.
19:51Just saying, just saying.
19:52Rajan...
19:53If you want...
19:54You're talking directly to Rajan.
19:55No, I'm actually going to punches in the air like that.
19:57No, no, but you're talking directly to...
19:58OK, do you know what?
19:59It's probably because you see that I'm writing.
20:00Honestly, don't worry.
20:04Central London.
20:06Ow.
20:07With Levi demoted to director...
20:09Wait, ow.
20:10...Lawrence steps into the limelight.
20:13Right, go.
20:14Hi, I'm Petey, the personal trainer.
20:17Great to meet you.
20:20On Harry's team...
20:21Just make sure that you have quite a wide stance.
20:24OK, fine, so maybe I'll have a bit more...
20:25Yeah.
20:26Playing a futuristic fitness instructor...
20:28Do you want to do a different voice today?
20:30I don't know if I should do that.
20:31It sounds more kiddish if I do like...
20:32Yeah, and they said they wanted not childish.
20:35Kriyash.
20:36OK, so could we start recording?
20:38Hi, I'm your fitness cyborg personal trainer.
20:42The fastest runner in Cyber City.
20:46Along the journey we will cross many obstacles.
20:50And I will see you on the cyborg track.
20:54Nice.
20:55It's good energy, mate.
20:59I don't want to see how I look right now.
21:02PT's perfected.
21:03Mate, what a day.
21:05It's a long day.
21:06I wouldn't have rather done it with anyone else,
21:08even if you did want to take my head off.
21:10For the gaming teams, a first look at their logo.
21:14Oh, no.
21:15Why do they go for red and black?
21:16It looks like a bumper sticker.
21:18It's not great, but let's put it into our game.
21:21Let's have a look at this logo.
21:23It looks like an old retro arcade game.
21:26I don't like the colours, I don't like the font,
21:29I don't like anything about it.
21:30I think it's absolutely useless.
21:31One of the worst logos I've ever seen.
21:34Tomorrow...
21:35Pitch to investors.
21:438am.
21:45For both teams...
21:47Hi, I'm PT, your personal trainer.
21:50...a replay.
21:52Don't worry.
21:53I'll be here to guide you every step of the way.
21:56So, what are you waiting for?
21:58Let's go.
21:59So Levi didn't do any exercises in that?
22:02My job yesterday was just to support Lawrence, and I will hold my hands up.
22:07One of the key reasons that Levi did come across initially was for the PT role,
22:10but then when it came to it, it was more of a pure play acting role.
22:14So, you know, who do I feel sort of would do the role best, and I've got to make the
22:18decision.
22:19I've got to back myself.
22:20Levi was a phenomenal director.
22:25Across the hall.
22:26Hi, I'm your fitness cyborg personal trainer.
22:30Powering up there, PT.
22:33Support your cyber boost.
22:35Harry's team.
22:36And I will see you on the cyber track.
22:41So, my only concern would be that the tone isn't a little bit younger.
22:45Like, did anyone think that wasn't just me?
22:47You'd be a great children than Sena, I think.
22:50What's...
22:51Is it male, female?
22:53It's unisex.
22:54It's unisex.
22:55That's what I'm talking about.
22:56It does look...
22:57There's no right or wrong answer.
22:59No, correct.
23:00We've incorporated the smartwatch, we've incorporated the headband,
23:03so it's like all the sports features, trainers.
23:05What, is that a t-shirt?
23:06It says men to be running kid.
23:08Oh, okay.
23:11For team aerobics.
23:12Start running, start running.
23:14A first glimpse of their game.
23:16Yay, there's the logo!
23:18Yes, running.
23:20And a dose of reality.
23:22What are these?
23:23They're frogs.
23:24Right.
23:27And then two squats.
23:30Yep.
23:30Lovely.
23:31Brilliant.
23:34The only concerns I do have is the frogs.
23:37I think, for us, the struggle was, like, the motive of the game.
23:40Like, maybe if you had an idea or, you know...
23:43Yeah.
23:43For me, I literally got out of the chair and I was like,
23:45listen, we need to make this fun and exciting.
23:47The whole idea of collecting rewards right now is super boring,
23:49but it just didn't seem imaginative.
23:51And for me, that someone doesn't game, it didn't even feel exciting.
23:55It would have been ideal for one of you to maybe have joined.
23:57However, we tried our best.
24:01You see these yellow coins?
24:03These are our collectibles.
24:05On the other team...
24:06So you're gonna do 12 punches, one after the other.
24:09Or...
24:09Gamer Karishma.
24:10You're explaining this very well, Gamer Karishma.
24:13Gamer Karishma.
24:14Final boss. Knock him out.
24:15Oh, wow.
24:15Good. Coins collected.
24:16Ten.
24:17Sets the pace.
24:19So, guys, I absolutely loved your work.
24:21I know you did an incredible job on the design team
24:23and I think you've absolutely nailed it.
24:25She did.
24:25I do kind of want to be on the pitch team.
24:29Gamer Karishma, would you mind swapping with me?
24:30Ian will go do the pitch.
24:32Me, Connor and Kieran.
24:34Mm-hmm.
24:35I think you'll do an amazing job in consumer research
24:37because that is incredibly important.
24:38We need that.
24:39We've seen it in past tasks where it's not been listened to.
24:41Is everyone all right with that?
24:43I should be on the pitch team.
24:45I'm the only gamer in the whole team.
24:47I also feel like they don't know how to pitch certain things.
24:50Like, they're just gonna start spinning things
24:51and they're not gonna see it from a gamer perspective.
24:55We've got to win investors.
24:56That's the bottom line of this task.
24:58Also looking for virtual volunteers.
25:00Is there anyone that isn't confident pitching?
25:02Project manager, Lawrence.
25:05I think it is a good game, don't get me wrong.
25:07But for me, I feel like pitching this idea of our game
25:11wouldn't be massively strong for me.
25:15I do get that Rajan has immediately said
25:17that he's not confident.
25:18I feel like we all...
25:19I didn't say I was not confident.
25:20I said I wasn't massively familiar.
25:23You were part of it, you still?
25:24Yeah, absolutely.
25:25I'm not denying that.
25:25Can I just add myself and Pasha
25:27that we aren't 100% confident in the game either.
25:29I'm happy personally to still back it.
25:32Cool.
25:32Well, listen, that's what I want.
25:34I need energy, I need belief.
25:35Levi, you're going to be sub-team leader.
25:38Rajan, I need quantifiable data that we can take to the investors.
25:42Sure.
25:44Rajan didn't want to pitch.
25:45So, today he is doing the consumer research, which, in all honesty, anyone can do that.
25:50It's not rocket science.
25:51I think people are really trying to get the easy straw in this process.
25:54And if you don't challenge yourself, then what are you doing?
25:56We are going to take Aerobics Life VR and we're going to bring it to life.
26:01Let's do it.
26:01Come on, guys.
26:02Let's do it.
26:0410am.
26:06While half of each team set out to test the market...
26:09Guys, I'm not going to lie.
26:11As the only game I probably should have been on the pitch team,
26:13it makes zero sense for me to be on this team.
26:15Why would you not switch Kieran out?
26:19The rest target a top score by prepping the perfect pitch.
26:25Levi spoke up about the PT side.
26:27I really want to do that.
26:28And I thought, Levi, this is your time to shine.
26:31I completely understand.
26:32I had to make a decision with the character to put myself forward after Levi.
26:35So I was excited to do it.
26:36And that's tough.
26:36That's really tough to do.
26:37I had a reason for it.
26:39It's not for everyone to agree with it.
26:40But what's important today is positivity, excitement and getting that pitch out there.
26:44Amazing.
26:47The O2 London.
26:49Base for both teams to road test their games.
26:53Hidden amongst the punters, three investors from the worlds of fitness and tech.
26:58Dodge the spiders, they're dangerous, dodge the spiders.
27:03Representing race to the top.
27:05These robots here, you've got to just punch it in the face.
27:07There we go.
27:08Harry's gaming squad.
27:10Hi, I'm your fitness cyborg personal trainer.
27:14Did everyone like his character, his energy?
27:17I felt like he, it's someone that would appeal to like a 10 year old.
27:21He doesn't look like super healthy.
27:24Yeah.
27:24He doesn't look that inspiring.
27:25It's pretty terrifying.
27:26So let's move on to the game.
27:28Who thought it looked really cool and like visually engaging?
27:32One, two, three, four.
27:33So yeah, I've counted.
27:34So it's 10 out of 13.
27:36Yeah.
27:36Okay, 10 out of 13.
27:37Amazing.
27:37From a gaming experience, it kind of works.
27:39But from a workout perspective, I don't think it works.
27:42Uh-huh.
27:42And would you play this game again?
27:45So we've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
27:47So over half of you.
27:48The ones that kept your hands down, you're all gym goers.
27:51Yes.
27:51Yeah.
27:52Okay.
27:52That's good to know.
27:55Yeah.
27:55And the other team.
27:56Uh, what the hell?
27:59I don't know if it was over the Dodger or fight.
28:01Giving their concept to work out.
28:03Oh, now I know it's out of the problems.
28:05Okay.
28:05Levi and Roger.
28:09When you look at this logo, do you automatically think I'm about to do an aerobics game here?
28:15I think it's a bit boring to like look at.
28:17It's very like corporate.
28:19I think a bit aggressive feels just a bit too much.
28:22So you've all played the game.
28:23Give us a bit of feedback what you thought about it.
28:25Yeah, I think it was good in terms of you've got your challenges in there.
28:28You've got to see your squats.
28:29You've got to do your jab punching.
28:31When I first started, I was a bit confused why there were frogs.
28:34Mm-hmm.
28:35I didn't really know if I was supposed to punch them, run away from them.
28:38So the instructions weren't clear in the games.
28:41No, I mean, it's just frogs.
28:42So would you play this game again after playing it once?
28:46Probably not.
28:47Probably not.
28:51Mid-afternoon.
28:52It was very clear from the offset that the gamers loved the whole concept.
28:56Before pitches begin...
28:57The fitness people didn't really like it, to be honest.
29:01They didn't really think it was active enough.
29:03A chance to run through the research.
29:06Are you happy, Harry, with how the team's split?
29:08Do you think it might be worth Karishma joining you guys in the pitch,
29:12just to answer any of those questions?
29:14We've been prepping it all day.
29:16Yeah.
29:16I think it's probably better to keep it as it is,
29:18because we've got it sorted.
29:19Do you guys feel comfortable?
29:20Because I know you guys weren't on the game side of it.
29:22You were, obviously, but you're in the demo.
29:24You know I was on the game team too.
29:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
29:26No, no, no, sorry.
29:27Sorry, I forgot that.
29:32Also, working up a sweat.
29:34So, going on from the logo.
29:36Boring.
29:37Corporate.
29:38Yeah.
29:38Aggressive.
29:39Yeah.
29:40Team aerobics.
29:41People didn't really understand what to do.
29:43So, as soon as they got into it, like, whoa, frogs, what do I do?
29:45We're going to take that on the chin, we're going to take it like adults
29:48and we're going to make sure we smash this pitch out of the park.
29:50Amazing.
29:51All right, looking forward to it, guys.
29:54Pitching time.
29:55Oh, let's do it.
29:56Let's do it.
29:56Oh.
29:57Waiting, with over half a million pounds of investment up for grabs,
30:02a panel of industry heavyweights and the legends from the world of fitness.
30:08Let's go.
30:09First up.
30:10I'd love to welcome you to our proposal pitch for investment in our new game,
30:14Race to the Top.
30:16Harry's Tea.
30:18Oh, I know him.
30:20I was the one that was doing demonstrations.
30:22To our virtual PT.
30:23Hi.
30:24I'm your fitness cyborg pet.
30:26That's someone we met today as well.
30:28Oh, my God.
30:29Guys, I strapped him in today.
30:30He was there.
30:32He played the game.
30:34Connor, are you ready to race to the top?
30:36Let's go.
30:38Run.
30:38Let's go.
30:40Left.
30:41Right.
30:41Left.
30:42Right.
30:42Keep going, Connor.
30:43Yeah.
30:44The building spell.
30:45Jump.
30:45Watch out for that eagle.
30:47But he's not really explaining what the game's about.
30:49He's not talking about the coins.
30:50Yeah.
30:51Jump again for me.
30:51Come on, you've got this.
30:53Don't stop now.
30:53I mean, talk about the coins.
30:55We're just walking right past them.
30:56Yeah.
30:56One big punch.
30:58Congratulations, Connie.
30:59You've just burnt 22 calories.
31:02I hope you're not too knackered after that.
31:04Now, our team went out to go do a bit of customer research earlier.
31:09And we knew we had a good idea, but we didn't know if gamers in particular would find it as
31:14eye-catching and as motivating as us.
31:16Luckily, through that research, they found they loved it.
31:19And if you do have any questions, we would absolutely love to answer them.
31:23My name's Miles Jacobson.
31:24I mean, they have no idea that we actually spoke with Miles today.
31:27He's tried this game.
31:28You spoke there about the gamers who really enjoyed it.
31:31Uh-oh.
31:31I was at the focus testing as well.
31:33Sure.
31:35And the fitness people, they're saying that it didn't do the job at all.
31:40Right.
31:40So, on to the next question.
31:42Yeah.
31:42Obviously, the game is set in a futuristic cyber city.
31:46But to me, when I look at that branding, I immediately think of a kind of 80s arcade game.
31:52Uh-oh.
31:53It will attract the older audience who know arcades from back in the day,
31:57and maybe haven't even looked at getting into fitness via playing games.
32:02Hi, my name's Kristina Hurugu.
32:04I'm a GB athlete, 400 meters.
32:07I'd wondered if you'd just explain to me how you would go on and advance the fitness components of your
32:14game.
32:15He has no idea.
32:16Look at his face.
32:18He has no idea what he's going to say.
32:20Thank you for your question.
32:21So, I think, you know, the first thing that we would do in terms to make it difficult is, you
32:28know, longer tracks.
32:30The longer it is, the more the person has to run.
32:33Take the mic off him.
32:34Um, in terms that's your go?
32:38Yes.
32:39Um, yeah, so there's a variety of different elements that get more difficult and increasingly demanding the longer you go
32:45on.
32:45Are you making this up on the spot, or is this an actual thing?
32:48Yes, he's making it up on the spot.
32:50Well, thank you so much, everyone, for your time.
32:52Thank you so much.
32:56It can definitely work.
32:57I noticed a lot of pivoting on stage.
33:00Yes.
33:00Is it not good, though, that they're thinking on their feet?
33:03Hi.
33:03Hello, boys.
33:04Hi, guys.
33:05You know, it was difficult out there, I'm not going to lie.
33:07Yeah, we saw some of the questions.
33:08It was a tough crowd.
33:09It was a tough sell.
33:10Yeah, it was.
33:10I just hope, you know, we did think on our feet a bit.
33:14Hi.
33:15I'm Petey.
33:16Next to pitch.
33:17Great to meet you.
33:19Hoping for a high score.
33:20So, what are you waiting for?
33:23Let's go.
33:24Lawrence, Rothner, and Pasha.
33:27Good afternoon, and thank you so much for joining us
33:30for the launch of our brand new virtual reality game, Aerobics Life.
33:34I wanted to just start off by telling you a story,
33:38and that story is about myself.
33:40When I was 19 years old, I got an injury playing football,
33:44and that was the only sport I knew how to do.
33:46So, for the first time in my life,
33:48I decided I was going to do aerobics.
33:51I see a couple of people looking from across the gym,
33:54and they're laughing.
33:55So, I get up, I leave the gym,
33:57and I never do aerobics again to this day.
33:59You know what?
34:00I understand the angle of going down, like,
34:02the personal kind of stories and stuff.
34:04I agree.
34:05But I think it's just a bit much.
34:06I'm going to hand you over now to Pasha and Rothner,
34:09who are going to go through the game,
34:10and I know they're going to smash this out the park.
34:20I don't know what the fuck is.
34:25Come on, Rothner, you need to talk.
34:27You need to talk. You need to say what's happened.
34:30Describe what she's doing.
34:31At each checkpoint, you're meant to do a different type of exercise.
34:35This is what you're meant to be saying.
34:38Oh, my God.
34:40We would be delighted to answer any questions
34:42to help us secure that investment.
34:44My point, really, is just about the frogs.
34:48You said the focus is on aerobics and doing those exercises,
34:52but you're running from frogs.
34:55Who wanted frogs?
34:57Pasha and Rothner.
34:58Why the frogs?
34:59Ultimately, the frogs are a little bit out there.
35:01They are crazy, but, you know, some people might like it.
35:04I think if it's like Marmite, you either will love it
35:06or you will hate it.
35:07Don't say you like Marmite.
35:09I don't think that's a good thing to say.
35:11The whole purpose of this entire thing
35:12is for her to be constantly on her feet,
35:14constantly moving,
35:16basically being attacked by these unknown species
35:18that look like frogs.
35:21Thank you so much for the question.
35:22We look forward to working with you.
35:23Have a lovely rest of your day, and thank you.
35:25Thank you so much, guys.
35:28What do you think?
35:30They spent the whole time making excuses for the frogs.
35:32Yeah, some frogs are really weird.
35:35Hey!
35:36Hello, guys.
35:38Guys, that was so bad.
35:41Very tough task.
35:43I still stand by what is said.
35:44Lawrence should have been on the making of the game,
35:46point blank.
35:47Yes, I fumbled a few words in the pitch then.
35:50I feel like the team's going to come for me.
35:53However, I'll be ready to fight.
35:56Tonight, investments totted up.
36:00Tomorrow, in the boardroom,
36:03the final boss.
36:139am.
36:14Hi.
36:15Good morning.
36:16Your team look a bit nervous.
36:17I was going to say the same about yours, fella.
36:20Yeah, well...
36:20And trust me,
36:22the big ones from you when you know you've won
36:24is very different to today.
36:25Christmas on you, mate.
36:26You're PM.
36:27May the best team win.
36:28May the best man win.
36:33I'm always nervous going to the boardroom.
36:35It's a very nerve-wracking place,
36:36but obviously being a project manager
36:37adds a lot of heat onto you.
36:40I think as project manager on this task,
36:42I've had to make a lot of tough decisions
36:43against the grain of the team,
36:45but if there are any issues,
36:46I don't feel like they'll be the things
36:47that were under my control as a project manager.
36:53You can go through to the boardroom now.
37:08So, it's time to find out now
37:11who's made it to the next level.
37:14We'll start with Team Alpha.
37:18Harry.
37:19Yes, Lord Trigger?
37:20You became project manager, right?
37:23Absolutely.
37:23Super Harry-o.
37:25Yeah.
37:26Yeah.
37:27Has a good ring to that.
37:29Yeah.
37:30So, you've got running.
37:31Why have you gone for running?
37:33So, Harry is a very active runner.
37:35I see him running a lot in the house.
37:37Why is he running in the house?
37:39Away from Dan.
37:42The development team,
37:43I think you had a lot of input into it,
37:45Krishna, right?
37:46Yes, Lord Trigger.
37:47I know that there's like a premise with every game
37:50where you fight small level obstacles
37:52and then eventually reach a big boss.
37:54So, I wanted to replicate that for our game.
37:57You bossed it though, I thought.
37:58I thought you were the big boss.
38:00Oh, thank you.
38:01Okay.
38:02Then there's a branding team.
38:03Harry, Dan and Priyash, right?
38:06That's great, yes.
38:08So, that is your logo.
38:09So, this is the logo for our game.
38:11So, we...
38:11Race to the top.
38:12Exactly, yes.
38:13Hmm.
38:14It looks like an Amstrad 464 game.
38:16Yeah, like an old Amstrad game, yeah.
38:19Anyway, let me have a look at this promotional video.
38:22Hi, I'm your fitness cyborg personal trainer,
38:26so put on your cyber boots
38:28and I will see you on the cyber track.
38:31All right.
38:32Looks like it's working in a gym in Chernobyl.
38:35Yeah.
38:37Like Kermit on steroids.
38:40We, um...
38:41Bionic bogey, that's what it looks like.
38:44What do you think about that creature?
38:46I think that was definitely our weakest point.
38:47Yeah.
38:49Scary, obnoxious, the experts say.
38:51Yeah.
38:52Yeah, that sounds like Piers Morgan's Tinder profile.
38:55Yeah.
38:56Anyway, can we see the game then?
39:00So, the game starts off with running.
39:03The first obstacle is these flying eagles.
39:07So, what am I doing?
39:08I'm on a running machine.
39:10Yeah, so, right now you'd essentially be going like this.
39:12Yeah.
39:12So, that you're doing the exercise to climb up with it.
39:14Yeah.
39:15Then this is the finale.
39:16This needs to be one big hard punch to knock out.
39:18Let's see him.
39:19That's the big boss.
39:20I don't know what you needed him for.
39:21You've got one here.
39:24Who did the pitch?
39:26So, that was myself, Connor and Kieran.
39:28You didn't let Karishma do it then?
39:30So, I thought they'd be best...
39:32He was a bit upset about that, wasn't you?
39:34It would have been more logical to me to be on the pitch side,
39:37but they were equipped with all the information and did a good job.
39:41Yeah.
39:42All right.
39:42Anyway, so, what did they think?
39:44Having read the room, I think half of them liked it, half of them didn't.
39:47Yeah.
39:47Well, one of them was going to make quite a large investment,
39:52but decided to significantly reduce it because of the quality of the answers
39:57to some of the questions.
39:59Felt you waffled and made it up on the spot.
40:02That is disappointing.
40:04Okay.
40:06So, let's move on now to Eclipse.
40:09And, Lawrence, you became the PM.
40:13That's correct, Lord Sugar.
40:14And you decided to go for aerobics, is that right?
40:16That's correct, Lord Sugar.
40:17I think aerobics is growing in nature in the male market,
40:21and I wanted to be able to reach as many people as we could.
40:23Okay, so the development team was Rothner, sub-team leaders, right?
40:29Yes, that's correct.
40:30Rajan and Pasho, yeah?
40:32Correct.
40:33Did your project manager give you a clear brief as what to get on with?
40:36We didn't have a storyline to go in, so we spent a lot of that time
40:40trying to come up with a storyline.
40:41If I may, Lord Sugar, the idea was if you kept up with your fitness,
40:45you got lower life insurance premiums.
40:47But, Lawrence, Lawrence, Lawrence.
40:48The task is to create a story.
40:51Mm.
40:52That's the key to the whole thing, right?
40:56I can't say anything but that I tried.
40:58Mm.
40:59Anyway, and then there's a branding team.
41:01So why are you on the branding team?
41:04Um, so because my background with Copy and Tim,
41:07I've listened to you say on a podcast that Lord Sugar's greatest strength
41:10is putting people where they have their strengths,
41:12and I thought putting myself in an area where I didn't have strengths
41:15would be a big...
41:15Must be a long podcast, I'm telling you.
41:18You don't need a podcast.
41:19Lord Sugar's made it very clear in his boardroom,
41:21put yourself in the right position based on what you know.
41:23Yeah.
41:24So that is your logo.
41:26That's the logo, correct, Lord Sugar.
41:28Looks like a sign to the gents.
41:30Yeah.
41:30Yeah.
41:31I think it needed to be abundantly clear what the game was about,
41:34and I think we delivered that with the logo.
41:36Okay.
41:37Now, let's run the promotional video.
41:40Hi, I'm Petey, your personal trainer.
41:43I'm here to help you reach your goals
41:45to give you more flexibility and more life.
41:48Whose voice is that?
41:50That would be me, Lord Sugar.
41:52That's you?
41:52Yeah.
41:53So, you took over that.
41:55I was hardly expecting Levi to turn up in one of those adverts
41:59for neglected donkeys or something, you know?
42:02Yeah.
42:03All right, let's run the game.
42:06Right, here's your logo.
42:09They're getting chased by these demonic frogs.
42:12Frogs?
42:12Yeah.
42:13The evil frogs, yeah.
42:14They're the evil frogs.
42:15They're the evil frogs.
42:16The whole point is you're constantly moving.
42:18Okay.
42:19Right, okay.
42:21So, what did you think of the game when they showed it to you?
42:24Yeah, it wasn't brilliant and the frogs were odd.
42:27Lord Sugar, the one thing I do want to mention is I ask that people give 110%
42:31and almost exclusively I do feel like that was given.
42:34That's a horrible statement we hate in...
42:37If people try their best, no one's a game developer.
42:40110%.
42:40There's no such thing as that, you know?
42:42Yeah.
42:45Right.
42:46I think it's time to see who invested in these VR fitness games.
42:52Tim, how did your team get on?
42:54Well, the investors felt the logo was a bit too corporate looking
42:58and there was no real rationale behind certain aspects of the game.
43:01the frogs, you heard the questions that they posed to you
43:04and that the game lacked any real substance.
43:07So, three of the investors decided they wanted to invest Lord Sugar
43:11and they were willing to invest a total of £55,000 into your development.
43:16Okay.
43:16Okay.
43:17Right.
43:19Karen, could you tell me the same thing?
43:21What happened on your side?
43:24Well, unfortunately, Alan, they didn't like the logo.
43:28They were really not keen on the name.
43:30And they absolutely hated the character.
43:35But they all did really like the game.
43:40So, all four invested.
43:42And you got a total of £205,000 into further development.
43:48Wow.
43:49That's a lot, that's good.
43:50Yep, they got Karishma to thank.
43:52I must say, Karishma did smash the game this time.
43:54Yeah.
43:55And Harry did a great job as Pierre.
43:56Yeah.
43:56I'll see you on the next task.
43:58Thank you very much.
43:59Thank you very much.
44:00Oh, my God.
44:06Well, they've got nearly four times more than you.
44:09I think that has a lot to do with the game.
44:12So, I'm afraid you're going to have to go away and talk amongst yourself in anticipation of at least one
44:19of you leaving the process today.
44:22OK?
44:31We did it.
44:32We did it.
44:33Well done, how's that?
44:34I can't believe it.
44:35I thought you did a fantastic job.
44:37Super Harry-O?
44:38Yes, Super Harry-O.
44:41From the brief in the morning, I think we all left pretty shocked.
44:45Just literally had nothing to go on.
44:47It is not solely on the project manager to tell you exactly what to do and every single thing within
44:52it.
44:53The most important part of this task was creating a game.
44:56Lawrence put himself forward as project manager.
44:58Couldn't deliver.
44:59The excuses are coming out of him like they're on tap.
45:03Whose idea was the Frogs?
45:04It was a collective of me and Rothner.
45:06OK.
45:07I did express my concerns.
45:08I kept asking you, so what do you think, Rajan?
45:10So what do you think?
45:11You just weren't coming back with anything.
45:13It was incredibly difficult to work with Rajan.
45:15I just don't feel like he contributed anything.
45:18If it hadn't been for me or Pasha, there'd be no game.
45:21Any kind of input I was putting in, it just played off and I really struggled to actually
45:25conversate with the group.
45:26I mean, Pasha literally had her back completely turned to me and it was just Pasha bouncing ideas to Rothner.
45:32I'm going to be honest with you, I'm hearing conflict in the team and that is ultimately quite worrying.
45:36In my eyes, I think there's no smoke without fire and Rajan hid from the pitch and it sounds like
45:41he got in conflict and I think Rajan has really let the team down.
45:54Yes, Lord Chagall.
45:55Could you send the candidates in, please?
46:07Well, you lost by £150,000, not a small loss.
46:13Now, right at the brainstorm in the beginning, no clear concept.
46:18Use your imagination.
46:19That's what you said to them.
46:21I'm not a game developer.
46:22I didn't believe that what I was going to do.
46:24Did you say something?
46:25Did you allude to having done a game or an app before?
46:29It was more along the lines of gamification itself.
46:32It was an app for fitness.
46:33It was very misleading, to be honest.
46:35We were under the impression that, you know, he's actually developed some form of a game and then...
46:40I don't think that's fair. I mean, my background is PR.
46:43Guys, am I just...
46:44No, listen, listen.
46:45No, we agree.
46:45I think a lack of imagination has left it really to two people to create something.
46:49You say lack of imagination, but with this, you were project manager and you had a vision...
46:54If you felt like you needed to be spoon-fed and given every part of the game...
46:57I didn't need to be spoon-fed.
46:58Well, clearly you did.
46:59I don't know why you're looking at me as if I've produced games.
47:03That's not the issue.
47:03You said you have creativity.
47:04I do have creativity, but without a structure, without anything to go on for...
47:08But why does that only have to come from me?
47:10Because you're the project manager for a game developer.
47:12If you feel that your project manager was in the wrong location, why didn't you say that?
47:17I did a number of times.
47:19You think he was on the right team still, Lawrence?
47:21The frogs element is ridiculous and I am disappointed and I wish I could have been there now I've seen
47:26what was created.
47:27Lawrence, it's a little bit unfair for you to say you are disappointed.
47:29Yes, I can delve into where we went wrong.
47:31You did the logo, didn't you?
47:32I did do the logo and...
47:34The character to your PT, you could have played him, couldn't you?
47:38I could have played him more, sure, that's correct.
47:39You became the PT and he became your PA.
47:43The reason why I come over to the Branding sign was to do that in particular, but Lawrence felt more
47:48comfortable doing that.
47:50Didn't you trust Levi to do it?
47:51I did, but when you're the project manager and it's your neck, I felt like I could deliver that really
47:56well from the script that I had written.
47:57So what did Levi get to do there?
47:59It's not about get to do, it's about trying to make sure the team wins.
48:03What did you do?
48:04I supported the project manager to get that vision of what he aimed down on there.
48:09Supported in what way? What's the point of having a project manager if I'm going to be overruling the project
48:13manager's view?
48:14What have you done in the past seven weeks? You were kind of like a wallflower.
48:18I've participated in teams winning. I can't pinpoint one by one on every task.
48:23Did he take over everything then?
48:26Can I be PM? We collaborated well together.
48:29PT, next thing you get your P45.
48:32Anyway, Rajan, I was told you didn't want to do the pitch, is that right?
48:36That's correct, Lawshire.
48:37And someone said it's because you didn't really believe in the game.
48:41That's correct, yeah.
48:42Did you help build the bloody game?
48:44Well, no, so the actual concept was actually constructed by Pasha and Rothner.
48:48I did ask the team, how can we make this a bit more exciting? I did ask Rajan at one
48:54point, you know, you play games.
48:56And he kind of snapped at me saying, I'm not a gaming expert.
48:58And I said, I'm not accusing you. I just need you to, you know, give me your input. And it
49:01felt really difficult.
49:02I just feel like they were a person down in that team because of Rajan's lack of contribution and conflict.
49:08Lawrence, you can't say that I was not contributing to the task. I found it very difficult.
49:12At one point, backs were completely turned to me. I had to remind the team that there were three people
49:17here.
49:18Sorry, Rajan, I really don't want to interrupt you, but you did constantly keep finding things to pick on.
49:23And I didn't understand that. I was picking on it because the concept was all...
49:28Rajan, you bit my head off. You went personal.
49:29I did go personal.
49:30You said, just because you bake a cake doesn't make you Mr Kipling.
49:33When I asked you, have you had gaming experience?
49:35Well, that's rude.
49:36No, no, no. It was not personal too, wasn't it?
49:38Anyway, look, Lawrence, we're wasting a lot of time now. I'm fed up listening to this.
49:43Who are you bringing back into this boardroom?
49:45So the first person I'd like to bring back is Rajan, just for the lack of contributions, the hiding away
49:50from the pitch.
49:52And with respect, Lord Sugar, I think you have made it quite clear about your mind on Levi.
49:57So I'll need to bring back Levi as well.
50:02Right.
50:04OK.
50:05You two ladies go back to the house then.
50:08Thank you, Lord Sugar.
50:09Thank you, Tim.
50:15Right, gentlemen, I'd like you to step outside.
50:19I'm going to talk to Baroness Brady and to Tim, and at least one of you will be leaving the
50:24process today.
50:25OK.
50:34What about this Lawrence fellow?
50:36He has the audacity to say, well, because of what you're saying, Lord Sugar, I'll bring Levi back.
50:42Listen, Lawrence is a smart guy, but the reality is that sometimes you have to say, do you know what?
50:47I made a mistake.
50:47And in this one, he was on the wrong team and he made mistakes.
50:51And what about Levi?
50:53Being relegated to someone's bag carrier is not good at this stage of the process.
50:58Yeah.
50:59I can't work out this Rajan.
51:01Rajan was given the opportunity to sell a concept.
51:03That's the heart of this task.
51:05And he stepped back from the opportunity.
51:06Right.
51:09Yes, Lord Sugar?
51:10Could you send the three of them in, please?
51:22You know, Lawrence?
51:24Yes, Lord Sugar?
51:25I find it a bit naughty saying you're bringing Levi back in here based upon some of the comments that
51:32I made about him.
51:33Um, yeah.
51:34But that's not the way this process is supposed to work.
51:36You're supposed to bring people back in who you think did not contribute to this task.
51:42I understand that, Lord Sugar, and potentially I've misspoken there.
51:45I really wanted one person back, to be honest with you.
51:48Rajan, for the lack of contribution.
51:50And I don't think there's time for coasters.
51:52When it came to...
51:53You're talking about coasting.
51:54You're talking about coasting, but then you didn't even...
51:56The PM didn't even go on the game.
51:58I will take accountability.
52:00But if I didn't bring someone back from the branding team as well,
52:03it would only be me that was to take accountability for that.
52:06So you're bringing Levi back because you thought that you needed one from the branding and one from the other
52:11game.
52:11There was elements of it which were disliked.
52:13I don't think so.
52:13Your own words hung yourself.
52:16You said, I can tell by what you're saying, Lord Sugar, that you want me to bring Levi back.
52:23Those were your words.
52:24You know what?
52:24I regret saying that.
52:26I'm pretty annoyed with it, to be fair, Lord Sugar.
52:28It just shows the person that he is by bringing me back in all because of what you've said.
52:32He isn't going off his own models with Lawrence.
52:34It's just going off what you're saying, Lord Sugar.
52:36With the greatest respect.
52:38The bits that were in my control did go well, but I can't see...
52:42You can't say all the bits you did, mate.
52:44What they were happy with.
52:45Well, no, listen.
52:46The video got great consumer feedback.
52:48Yeah, but I'm meant to be doing the video and you swapped me because...
52:50Listen to me.
52:51You swapped me because of my Yorkshire twang.
52:53No, I didn't.
52:53That's the reason why you swapped me not to be in that suit.
52:56I didn't.
52:56You did, because you said you can talk more clearly and more...
52:59And they liked the video.
53:00I could have done the video, which was the original plan.
53:03Okay.
53:03I could have done that.
53:03But as per usual, listen to me, Lawrence.
53:05I'm talking.
53:06Right?
53:07From the start, it were your way or no way.
53:09You wanted to control the whole thing.
53:11You contributed to the day.
53:13I really...
53:13I don't want to focus on the branding too much because there is one person that I deem very
53:17responsible for the failure of this task and that is Rajan.
53:19And you keep saying about me copping out of this pitch, right?
53:22This is a game development task.
53:23You've copped out on being on the game development team and then you put yourself...
53:26Did Harry cop out?
53:27Sorry, I'm talking.
53:28...and then you put yourself on the branding team of which you specialise in.
53:31You know, you're a PR guru.
53:32And you went on the branding team and you messed that up as well.
53:35I don't know.
53:35What did you do?
53:36What did you do?
53:37What did you do?
53:37It didn't lock a hospital sign.
53:38Yeah, so they didn't like the logo how it looked.
53:41Distribution should not be confused for contribution.
53:43And there was no contribution.
53:44The girls couldn't put anything to it that you contributed.
53:47How did I be called a disruptor if I didn't contribute?
53:49You're contradicting yourself.
53:51You find errors, but you don't find solutions.
53:53I just don't understand.
53:54I think those should be fired.
53:56In all honesty, I think Lawrence should be fired, Lord Sugar.
53:59Who do you think should be fired?
54:01It has to be Lawrence.
54:02Lawrence, you're adamant it should be Rajan.
54:04I am, and I will say that throughout this process I've never hidden.
54:07I've done my best.
54:08Lawrence, Lawrence, let me ask you a question.
54:10If Lord Sugar didn't say what he was saying, who would you have brought in instead of me?
54:13I still would have brought you back because once they spoke about the law.
54:17No, you wouldn't have.
54:17So why didn't you just speak off your own morals instead of saying?
54:19Because you made it clear, Lord.
54:21I'll tell you what.
54:22I'll tell you how I'm going to make this easy now.
54:24I have accused you leave.
54:25I have quite a few things in this particular boardroom.
54:29But I'm going to show you how fair I am by saying to you, you are going to be the
54:35project manager of the next task.
54:37Happy days.
54:37Thank you, Lord Sugar.
54:38Well, we'll see if it's happy days, right?
54:40I'll remember that.
54:41Happy days, you said, yeah?
54:43Remember that?
54:44I wrote it down.
54:44Did you see that?
54:45I'm writing it down.
54:46Okay.
54:47All right.
54:47That just leaves you two here.
54:49Yeah.
54:49Yeah.
54:50And what I've got to say about you, Lawrence, is that you've done well up until now in the process,
54:59as far as I'm concerned.
55:04Rajan, I haven't seen that much of you.
55:07We should go.
55:08I'll be consistent.
55:08No, no.
55:08Just be quiet now.
55:10I'm filled up with listening to you.
55:15So, Lawrence, that was a nasty move.
55:17And I regret that for the rest of my life.
55:20I'm sorry.
55:20It was a nasty move, Lawrence.
55:22I don't like people that do things like that.
55:24And for that reason, Lawrence, you know, you've given me a big dilemma.
55:32But I'm also reflecting back on the last seven weeks.
55:38Yeah.
55:39Well, I've got a gut feeling here.
55:41It may not be fair.
55:43But, Rajan, you're fired.
55:47Thank you, Lord Sugar.
55:48Tim.
55:49Brandon's ready.
55:50Good luck, Rajan.
55:57You were this close to getting out of here, OK?
56:01Get out.
56:02Go on the pair of you.
56:03Go back to the house.
56:07Thank you, Lord Sugar.
56:13I'm definitely gutted to be leaving.
56:15I feel like, you know, the wrong decision was made today, especially after that slimy, slimy call by Lawrence to
56:22bring Levi in.
56:24But, you know, Lord Sugar's, say, is final, so I do have to respect that.
56:30Guys, how many people are getting fired?
56:32Who's coming back?
56:32I think Lawrence is coming back.
56:33He's a fighter.
56:34You know?
56:36There he is!
56:37Oh!
56:39Levi!
56:42Sit down, tell us about it.
56:45I'm going to be honest with you guys.
56:47I'm beyond embarrassed with myself.
56:49And Lord Sugar kept coming for Levi.
56:51I just made a weak decision.
56:52Yeah, I think we were quite shocked.
56:54I will say, well, Sam, I know I'm a kind person.
56:57I will help anyone out.
56:58But don't ever use me as a scapegoat in there, alright?
57:02Don't ever do that to me.
57:04But, one bonus, whoever's on my team, I'm your next project man.
57:13Now, ten candidates remain.
57:16The search for Lord Sugar's next business partner continues.
57:22Next time...
57:23When I sent you to Hong Kong, you totally messed it up.
57:27So I've decided to give you a chance to redeem yourself.
57:31That's the energy we need.
57:33Deals...
57:34Ten pounds.
57:34You can buy it, but you can't steal it.
57:37Squeals...
57:38Come on! Let's go!
57:40And for one candidate...
57:41Where's your PM?
57:42Fate sealed.
57:43Can we shut the doors, please?
57:48Well, that black cab is heading over to BBC Two now.
57:51Angela Scanlon with The Apprentice.
57:54Unfinished business.
57:56This and everything across the BBC is made possible because we're funded by you.
58:02Thank you!
