00:00In the 1970s, one character would literally change the image of women in action cinema
00:05And that's Foxy Brown.
00:07And today, I'm introducing you to this character for my week on International Women's Day.
00:12In the film Foxy Brown, Foxy Brown is a woman seeking revenge.
00:16Her partner was an undercover agent; he was murdered by a criminal network.
00:20And instead of running away, Foxy decides to infiltrate the organization herself to uncover the truth.
00:26But this network is not just a simple gang.
00:27He is involved in drugs, prostitution and corruption.
00:31Foxy Brown then uses his intelligence and determination to destroy the organization from within.
00:36Foxy Brown is played by Pam Greer, who was previously seen in a Tarantino film.
00:40And she became one of the first great action heroines in cinema.
00:44In the 1970s, her roles in Blacksploitation films finally gave Black women strong, independent characters.
00:51and capable of defending themselves.
00:52Foxy Brown became an icon, but above all, it showed that Black women could play important roles.
00:59and even in action movies.
01:01Let me know in the comments if you've seen this film and, most importantly, subscribe.
