00:15Before becoming the queen of rock, Tina Turner had to survive a toxic, violent relationship and rebuild her entire life.

00:27The film What's Love Got To Do With It tells the true story of Tina Turner.

00:31In the 1960s, Tina Turner became famous with her husband and musical partner Ike Turner.

00:37The duo achieved enormous success with songs like River Deep Mountain High and Fran Marie.

00:43But behind the scenes, the reality is much darker.

00:46Tina Turner recounted in her autobiography Ike Tina that she suffered repeated physical and psychological abuse.

00:52After years of suffering, she decided to leave Ike Turner in 1976 with almost no money.

00:58And many people think his career is over.

01:02But against all odds, she returned in the 1980s with the album Private Dancer.

01:07The album has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

01:10And her story becomes a symbol of resilience.

01:13And the film What's Love Got To Do With It earned Angela Bassett an Oscar nomination.
