01:26What makes Nightfall a unique show?
01:29I think Nightfall, it exists in the world of shows like Vikings and Game of Thrones, and
01:44there's kind of big historical epics.
01:46What I think is strong about Nightfall is that it's, and what's unique about it is that
01:53it's actually an incredibly emotional show.
01:56I think that from the outside you can look at the show and just see very big battles and
02:00a very masculine show, but actually it really tackles, especially in season 2, it really
02:07tackles big issues of fatherhood and love and betrayal and it's a very, very emotional show.
02:16My character in season 2, he is the most machismo male, but his big arc in season 2 is about
02:25him stripping away his ego and learning to be a vulnerable man.
02:30which, in many ways, it kind of tackles toxic masculinity, which is something that, it's
02:37a very interesting topic at the moment.
02:39In the series, what was the most difficult to learn for you?
02:43Using the sword or jumping?
02:45Well, I learned a sword fight in drama school and I learned that I had kind of a propensity
02:54for killing people.
02:55I was quite good at it.
02:58So I turned up to the first day of boot camp for Nightfall being like, I got this, no problem.
03:05And I was absolutely awful.
03:08I was so bad.
03:10So I had to do a lot of work and a lot of learning.
03:15But the horse riding, it was the thing that was, I'd never really done it before.
03:22And they have a stables on set.
03:24So we would, we would ride, any time I had off, if I had like half an hour, an hour,
03:30I would get to the stables and I'd go out into the forest and ride.
03:36And my kind of learning curve in the riding was very, very steep.
03:40And to the point where in season 2, they were like, okay, we're gonna, in episode 3,
03:45we're gonna make you do this stunt.
03:47And the stunt is that there's a galloping horse and you're gonna run alongside it,
03:52grab onto the saddle, jump up, kick a guy off, land in the saddle and then carry on riding.
03:58I was like, what?
03:59Are you serious?
04:00You want me to do this?
04:02And they were like, yep, you're gonna do it.
04:04And I learned, I learned to do it.
04:06And I did it.
04:08I don't know how that happened, but hey, it's cool.
04:12So the riding was the one that was scariest and the one that I've had to learn the most, I
04:17think.
04:18How did you work with a legend like Mark Hamill?
04:22I've heard of Mark Hamill.
04:24Yeah.
04:24No.
04:25It was amazing.
04:29My younger brother, he's in this second season of Nightfall 2.
04:34And he's about, I think he's six years?
04:38No, he's eight years younger than me.
04:40And so when he was about eight years old, I went out and hired the videos of Star Wars
04:47and kind of was like, sit down, I'm gonna put this on and this is my gift to you.
04:52Okay, Joe, you're gonna really enjoy watching these movies.
04:54And he became obsessed.
04:56And so we would like watch Star Wars together.
04:59It was the way of us like bonding.
05:00And so when we were on, when we first started on Nightfall, we were in bootcamp
05:08and Talos hadn't been cast yet.
05:11And I found out that Mark was gonna be playing Talos and just freaked out.
05:17But I was told I can't tell anybody.
05:19So immediately I ran to go and find my brother.
05:23I found my brother.
05:24I was like, listen, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe.
05:28Mark Hamill is gonna be playing Talos.
05:30My brother just freaks out.
05:32I'm like, listen, listen, you can't tell anybody.
05:35Okay, dude.
05:36He said, okay, okay.
05:37He turns around to everyone and goes, hey, everybody.
05:40Mark Hamill's playing Talos.
05:43Yeah, nice one.
05:45Thanks, Joe.
05:46No, it's great.
05:48You know, it was like a dream come true.
05:51It's difficult not to make lightsaber noises when you're working with him.
05:56God forgive us all.
06:07You're getting e Juizek.
06:07Let's just turn it off to Michael at Ric muscle.
06:07We wanted to come back to him.
06:07We can do things in интерес but like this better if we can.
06:07You know what, huh?
