Free kidney disease screening

Health experts on Thursday urged the public to take advantage of free screening services to prevent Chronic Kidney Disease in line with the celebration of World Kidney Day. AstraZeneca, Mercury Drug, and Diabetes Philippines announced the expansion of their free screening program, which was launched in January this year. The free services include blood pressure, random blood sugar, body mass index, and urine albumin-creatinine ratio screening. Doctors are present at the screening sites every Sunday. Dr. Rey Rosales, treasurer of Diabetes Philippines, emphasized the importance of early screening. He explained the correlation between kidney health and heart health. The free screenings are available at select Mercury Drug branches, including Trinoma, Shangri-La Plaza, Pavilion Mall, and Noveleta, Cavite.

00:49Oh
01:23The priority of the government in the field health is the dialysis.
01:29So it was only allowed per year of dialysis, but because of the different medical societies, health professionals,
01:39we were able to push the government to increase the dialysis sessions for each individual who needs it.
01:48More than 155 or 56, so almost one year na, over na ng field health.
01:56But you have to count the math.
02:00Magkano ang ginagastos ng gobyerno para dyan?
02:04So why are we here?
02:06Can we prevent the dialysis?
02:10So that is our objective here.
02:13So, magtataka kayo bakit ang isang expert sa diabetes magsasalita tungkol sa chronic kidney disease.
02:23Because if you're going to look the complications related to diabetes, nariyan po ang kidney.
02:34Okay?
02:35Alam natin, nandiyan ng heart, utak na apektuhan.
02:40But now we will concentrate on the kidney itself.
02:45So look at this one.
02:4758% of patients with type 2 diabetes will develop chronic kidney disease.
02:55So if you were able to get your diabetes at an early stage, the longer that you have your diabetes,
03:02the higher the chance that you may get chronic kidney disease.
03:06Remember, diabetes is a lifetime illness.
03:10So screening is not only for CKD.
03:12Screening is also for early diagnosis of diabetes.
03:16Because we would like to prevent those patients with diabetes from having chronic kidney disease.
03:22Not only that, 50% of patients with diabetes will eventually also develop a heart condition we call heart failure.
03:34Bakit natin kinakailangan pag-usapan ng kidney tsaka heart?
03:37Because the two organs are interrelated.
03:43So whatever happens to the heart will affect your kidney.
03:48And whatever is the problem in the kidney will affect also the heart of the individual.
03:55So makikita din natin, some patients get admitted in the hospital of heart failure.
04:03Then when we work up, ay may problema pala sa kidney.
04:07Iban naman pupunta sa hospital because of kidney problem.
04:10Then they extend their stay in the hospital because there was a concomitant heart condition
04:15na apektuhan ng kidney yung heart.
04:18So tumatagal ang tumatagal ang pasyente sa ating hospital.
04:23So ito yung sinasabi kong interrelated.
04:27Heart, kidney, and metabolic that is your sugar.
04:31It is unfortunate that if you have one patient who is within this area where all the three intersects,
04:38then the risk of dying is also increased.
04:42Just imagine may diabetes ka na and then you have a heart problem, a kidney problem,
04:46the lifespan of that particular patient starts to go down already.
05:19And I think is fine where研究ten can be taken even from the hospital three nichang in this fall so much
05:22chancefy.
05:22So here at the height level, I just go down now and that's get the same story.
05:22So as soon as possible hopefully, the table is completely overwhelmed.
05:22You
