New obesity treatment launched in the PH

Global pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk launches a new prescription-based treatment for individuals struggling with obesity. Wegovy—the brand name of semaglutide—is a once-weekly injectable medication that mimics glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a hormone that is responsible for regulating appetite and blood sugar produced by the body. The drug helps individuals feel fuller for longer periods, reducing cravings and supporting sustained weight management. Wegovy will soon be available in drugstores nationwide as early as next week, subject to a doctor’s prescription.
