00:00Wiggy, Patriots end up getting themselves a safety yesterday.
00:05And what are your thoughts on Kevin Byard?
00:08I think he was with Vrabel in Tennessee for a long time.
00:12So a Vrabel guy.
00:13Yeah, he's a Vrabel guy.
00:14And you see that's what a lot of teams do.
00:16They bring in their guys.
00:17I like what they're doing.
00:18They're bringing in solid, good players for players that are leaving
00:22to replace those players with.
00:24The only concern that I've had and I kind of still talk about for me
00:29is the edge rushing position.
00:32I think they have to address that position.
00:35Maybe that's an area in the draft where they do it because there are,
00:39like Shyam talked about it, there's a bunch of guys,
00:42edge guys that could potentially be first rounders this year.
00:46And the wide receiver position.
00:49One more piece there.
00:51If that's the Shyam-Tyree kill thing, all right, I'm in on that.
00:55Please, I hope it's not Tyree kill.
00:57But there's not much left.
00:58I know there's not.
01:00But there's got to be somebody who's not going to come in
01:03and disrupt the entire thing.
01:05And maybe he won't.
01:06I don't know.
01:06Right.
01:07But what do you give them grade-wise on the offseason to this point?
01:12Because it was like day one it was an F.
01:14Right.
01:15So far they're like at a B- but close to a B.
01:19I don't know how you have them at a B-.
01:22Well, I have them at a C right now.
01:24Like, yeah, it's passing.
01:25But are we a better team than we were going to the Super Bowl last year?
01:27I don't think so.
01:29And it's like, yeah, Kevin Byard, 10-year career, hasn't missed a game.
01:32But he's 32 at the same time.
01:34But we keep talking about guys in their 20s.
01:36And we're like, okay, they want to go younger.
01:38They want to go younger.
01:39I mean, it's a good signing.
01:40But for me, are we a better team than we were last year?
01:42No.
01:43Curtis, grade?
01:44I go B+.
01:45Wow.
01:46I honestly, what if they're bringing these guys in to prepare for a Tyree Kill?
01:52Where you're bringing in locker room guys that are leaders to help get the, to reinforce the ability of your
02:00locker room to endure an addition like Tyree Kill.
02:03Right.
02:03Like, Corey Dillon never changed.
02:05Like, he got here and he was a dink to the people in that building.
02:08Yeah.
02:08He was not a nice, happy-go-lucky guy.
02:10But they had that locker room led by Vrabel and Wiggy.
02:13I mean, not Wiggy.
02:14McGinnis and Brady and all those guys at that time.
02:16And they were able to do it.
02:17So, by bringing in guys who know Mike Vrabel and his culture, you're adding another veteran voice and another voice
02:28in the room that can keep guys in line.
02:31Like his breakman.
02:32Yeah.
02:33And you can kind of see the culture.
02:35They have those guys and they continue to add those guys, like you said, Greg.
02:40And, you know, offensively, they added an offensive lineman.
02:44We talked about that, that, you know, could play alongside Will Campbell and help him out.
02:50You know, you've done some really good things defensively.
02:53I think they've kind of been more defensive heavy other than, you know, the fullback.
02:57And Romeo Dobbs, I think Romeo Dobbs is a solid player.
03:01He's going to give you good production.
03:02I would just like to see them obviously add that 1A player.
03:08But if they can't get that 1A player, then maybe you have to get, you know, the Tyreek Hill, the
03:13Debo Samuel, some of those guys that can, you know, be 1B, 1C alongside Romeo Dobbs.
03:19What's your midterm grade, Professor?
03:22Yeah, I'm kind of with Wiggy.
03:23I'm right around a B minus, C plus.
03:26Like it's slightly better than what I expected them to do to start free agency.
03:30Like I didn't expect a whole lot because I just didn't think they were going to spend anything.
03:33I think if you add A.J. Brown, like it immediately jumps to an end.
03:38Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:38That's kind of where I am.
03:40Like it's solid.
03:41It's not anything that's going to blow you away.
03:43I love the Kevin Byard pickup.
03:45That was like one of the guys.
03:46I think that's the first guy they picked up that is a clear, no doubt, massive improvement over what they
03:53had previously.
03:54Like Kevin Byard is way better than Jalen Hawkins.
03:57He's a three-time All-Pro.
03:58He's a guy who's really talented.
04:00Had seven interceptions last season.
04:01And he's going to be a really good pairing with Craig Woodson.
04:04And in that secondary, I think the defense might be better than it was last year.
04:09I know you're a little thin.
04:11Like you added a couple linebackers like KJ Britt and like Lucchetta and one other guy.
04:17But I think overall your secondary is now better.
04:20Your defensive front is probably slightly better.
04:23And so for me, like I think your defense is definitely better.
04:25It's really just the offense that has a couple questions.
04:28Yeah, I'm more of the mind now that you're not going to hear about A.J. Brown until June.
04:34Like I'm kind of resigned.
04:36That's the way that Philadelphia is going to do it and that you're just going to have to sit and
04:41wait on it.
04:42But I guess the question I would ask if I was Philly, I know you're waiting until June, but wouldn't
04:48you want to do it before the drafts that so you can add that draft capital to maybe do some
04:58things this year with the draft rather than maybe waiting a little bit?
05:02But, Wiggy, Shime's point earlier this week was that next year's draft is much more valuable than this year's draft.
05:08Correct.
05:09So they might be doing this saying we want to get it.
05:11But at what position, though?
05:13I guess it depends on where they need it.
05:14Overall.
05:14Like the overall crop is better than this year's.
05:18All right.
05:18Well, Shime's the college guy.
05:21I haven't seen that far out into the future.
05:23I saw Shime's first mock.
05:25He has Mendoza in the third round.
05:26All right.
