00:01We're all hopefully on a journey in life, not to figure out the meaning of life, at least to figure
00:12out what the heck we're doing.
00:16I just thought it was an interesting character that was on a mission and was being tested.
00:27I guess it has some elements of a western in that, the loner who comes to town.
00:34It starts, I guess, about 25, 30 years after a major world war.
00:46And it's a story about a young man at that time who hears voices that led him to a book,
00:59to the Bible.
01:02And although they don't like to give it away or whatever, they're saying, I don't care.
01:06I've got to talk about it like it is.
01:07It's supposed to be the last one on earth.
01:14And he's charged with a mission to take it west to a place.
01:19And he's not even sure where.
01:22But it's about his faith, how it's tested.
01:29We are representatives of different, you know, principalities and good and evil, if you will.
01:38You know, and, you know, there's a saying, there's no testimony without a test.
01:44And I think for my character, he becomes the final test.
01:48And he tempts my character in every way, challenges him in every way, spiritually, physically, psychologically.
02:02And, you know, they bump heads.
02:06They're two powerful men who were both believers.
02:13But I think in the case of Carnegie, he's twisted it somehow into wanting to manipulate the people.
02:24She's, as a young person would, wants to see the world but has no idea what's out there,
02:28especially the world that we live in, the world of this film.
02:32And he doesn't really want it to go because he's not used to that.
02:37And I think that's a part of what he had to learn, you know, to share,
02:43to do more for others than for himself.
02:50He also comes to find out a part of his task is to teach and to share.
02:58And I don't think he understood that to begin with.
03:03Initially, he thought his job was to protect, to protect this book,
03:07not to let anybody touch it, not to let anybody get near it until it gets to where it belongs.
03:13And, you know, it's like the more you, the older you get, the more you know you don't know anything.
03:25He's at a place suddenly in the life of our movie where he's learning a lot,
03:31like I said, about interaction and interdependence and even love.
03:38I mean, it's not a romantic love between the two of them,
03:42but to have to open up having been closed for so long.
