00:02It is the most glamorous premiere of the century, and we are here to bring you all of the action.
00:08I'm your host, Taryn Southern, here live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City
00:12for the world premiere of Sex and the City 2, which opens on May 27th.
00:16I am so excited to be here.
00:18My partner in crime, Ms. Shira Lazar, who's standing by.
00:21That's right, Taryn.
00:22It's a blue carpet here at the Sex and the City 2 premiere.
00:25The entire city is out tonight, and I would say Hollywood is in New York right now.
00:47I'm involved in every single part of it, from, you know, getting it, putting it together,
00:54getting crews back together, negotiating contracts, talking about the marketing, the artwork,
00:59getting teams on sets.
01:01I mean, it's literally everything.
01:03It's everything.
01:04It's the minutiae.
01:04It's the big stuff.
01:05It's the little stuff, and it's the stuff that I've been doing for so long in relation to the show,
01:09and it's just the only way I know how to be involved anymore.
01:14Sometimes I'm walking down the streets of New York or I'm driving around the streets of New York,
01:17and I see a group of four women walking, or I see a table set up at a restaurant,
01:21and I think this is a familiar scenario, and I see it more now since the show was on the
01:27air
01:27because I think it's women have cultivated their relationships sometimes in an aspirational way.
01:33It's all Michael Patrick King.
01:34He is preternaturally disposed in some crazy way, gifted to tell these women's stories,
01:40and he always has an instinct about what is right for them and what people are talking about.
01:46It's because of the fans the first time, dressing up and going to the theater
01:50and having drinks with their girlfriends, and I thought, I want the party to continue.
01:54So that's how I sat down to write.
01:55I wanted the party to continue, and as you can see, it still has.
01:58And it's a great night in New York, and it's a great night for the movie, I think.
02:02I think we see parts of ourselves in the characters.
02:05Yeah.
02:05And I think it's nice, one of the things that's so nice is how different the women are in real
02:10life
02:10and on screen, how different they are, and I think it gives women a nice range of personalities to choose
02:17from.
02:17Very good point.
02:18But there is a scene where Charlotte is baking cupcakes, and Kristen's whole look,
02:23even down to her hair and her makeup, that's my favorite of her in the movie.
02:26Something that started as a half-hour show on HBO and now has just become a phenomenon, really.
02:31I mean, there are helicopters hovering overhead.
02:35It's extreme.
02:37I mean, you can't even imagine.
02:38There's a voice now for women that didn't exist before,
02:42and I think it's a voice that's reflecting specifically the challenges of being a woman in the world today.
02:49And I think we do it, hopefully, with intelligence and humor,
02:53and I think with that we can talk about a lot of subjects that are completely taboo
02:57and make fun of them and make people not be so frightened of them.
03:01We got to Marrakesh, to Morocco, and we shot in the souk, which is the big walled inner-city market,
03:10and we would shoot and nobody showed up.
03:13Paparazzi? No one.
03:14I haven't seen nothing in about two years, and we're going to celebrate.
03:18This is called a celebration of life.
03:21Johnny C. and I used to hang out during the series, but now we all have families, we all have
03:25lives,
03:27so it's fun to actually come together at work and at these events.
03:31I'm working on maybe doing a play, and there's two in mind I can't tell you right now that are
03:35in flux.
03:37And also The Good Wife, I think, is peering up for another season, which I'll be appearing in,
03:43and I'm happy to be doing that.
03:47This has been such a great night.
03:49Thank you to all the Ustreamers and Livestreamers out there who have been watching the show.
03:52And, of course, Warner Brothers, Livestream, Ustream, all the fans out there.
03:57Of course, you can catch Sex and the City 2.
03:59May 27th.
04:00Yes, May 27th.
04:02Thank you so much, Sharon.
04:03Thank you, Shira.
04:04It's good to see you again.
04:05All right, we'll see you again from another red carpet, but for now, Sex and the City 2, May 27th.
04:09Thanks, guys.
04:10Thank you, everyone.
04:11Bye.
04:12Have a good night.
04:13Bye.
04:15I don't know.
04:17Please.
04:19Please.
