00:02A tinny turned taxi and grocery delivery service.
00:06Pretty hectic, eh? Like a lot of people, like we were sort of surprised with how many people actually needed
00:12a hand on this side of the creek
00:13and not being able to get food and water and supplies.
00:18Local tradies doing more than their bit to help families cut off from the main town.
00:23Residents along Florina Road in Catharines West have been isolated since Friday.
00:28A 15 minute drive to the shops, now an hour long round trip by boat.
00:34You guys going to add chauffeur or taxi driver to your resumes after this?
00:37Might have to paint the tinny yellow.
00:39We've been six days now isolated so we weren't able to get as many supplies as we would have liked
00:45to.
00:46We couldn't even get a trolley at Woolies so we just grabbed what we could.
00:49Community spirit is high but the isolation is starting to grate.
00:53We're just wet, wet and stuck.
00:56Pretty bored, there's not that much to do.
00:58Instead go down to the water.
01:00They say more help is desperately needed.
01:03It was just about logistically trying to get that done.
01:06They had to abort those food drops that they did do to Rocco and Minjari the other day because of
01:10the weather.
01:11Back in town, exhausted SES volunteers trying to keep up after more rain overnight prompted fresh mornings for Beswick and
01:20Catherine.
01:21Everything's just flaring up one after the other.
01:24It's just trying to catch a breath where we can and getting back out there.
01:28As this disaster drags on there have been efforts to get people back on their feet.
01:33Pop up schools have been stood up and hundreds have been queuing to access disaster payments.
01:38But for those forced to flee their homes both here and further north, it remains an uncertain time.
01:45We do have a lot of welfare and liaison officers working with those people.
01:52The vision of their communities at the moment, it has been quite difficult due to the substantial level of water
01:58that is around to be able to get those aerial shots and get the survey rescue teams in to give
02:03them that information.
02:05The wet season usually a welcome reprieve from the heat, but this relentless rain is leaving residents weary.
