00:02I've absolutely fallen in love with playing Jane. I met Jane very early on in the process and got to
00:12know her and read her book and really just what I feel is this is a woman who has incredible
00:20passion and love and gives has given and continues to give so much in her life and someone who never
00:29gave up and literally this woman I feel dedicated her life to Stephen but at the same time was desperate
00:37to retain her own sense of identity it was very important to her that she continued her studies obviously Stephen
00:44being known as the genius that he is it was interesting for Jane that she also came from an academic
00:49background and it was very important to her that she was respected in that way as much as you know
00:55in a way that she wanted to
00:59always feel like an equal to Stephen in that in that sort of academic realm I mean obviously not to
01:04the same extent of his explorations but that she had her own identity
01:12it's absolutely phenomenal I was just looking through the photographs of both Eddie and I the costume photographs and seeing
01:20the pictures when you meet the characters at the beginning
01:22when before Stephen knows that he has the disease and then through to the end of the film and seeing
01:29this couple in their 40s and it's phenomenally moving just how much they go through together and they have three
01:37beautiful incredible children and as an actor it's being able to explore a character arc over that many years has
01:46been pretty full on
01:49but fascinating at the same time
01:55I think there was an immediate sexual attraction but at the same time there was a meeting of minds and
02:05I think they challenged each other as well
02:08I think there was a competitiveness between them which often when two people who are quite different and I think
02:16it was in some ways that difference between them
02:18that brought them together
02:23That's so important and that's what we've wanted in telling this story is how both Jane and Stephen are absolutely
02:31hilarious they have a very dry sense of humour very English sense of humour
02:36and I think that's partly what enabled them to cope with such difficult circumstances was that there's always a witticism
02:45about it and meeting Stephen he was incredibly witty and insightful and very dry sense of humour
02:59and I think that was one of the hardest things in their relationship was that they would have these very
03:04lengthy
03:05they loved talking, loved lengthy discussions
03:08both very inquisitive, vibrant people
03:13and then trying to maintain the essence of their relationship
03:17as Stephen's physical state deteriorated was an enormous challenge for both of them
03:23but what I love about both of them is that they kept finding a way through
03:29you know that Jane was just so tenacious and persistent and constantly passionate about upholding Stephen's identity
03:42despite his physical deterioration
03:45that this woman was determined that he would live a long and healthy and fulfilling life
03:55and eventually bukan from einige who I assume that they were working for her."
03:55that's a couple of years of all I also had an intelligent idea of whodf
03:58andogi میtsle habilet
03:58and try to unwanted celstremely
03:59that is funny
03:59and I'm doing all you've before myself
03:59and I'm doing all about to leaano
04:00and I'm doing all this
04:00again I'm doing all things
04:00and I've done some stuff
04:00and I'm just kind of flavour
04:00So I'm doing that
04:00and I know what you've done
