00:00President Trump is in Kentucky today to try and oust a congressional nemesis,
00:04Republican Thomas Massey. Yep, someone from his own party. Massey is a seven-term congressman,
00:10being primaried for his seat by former Navy SEAL Ed Galrine. President Trump has already
00:15endorsed Galrine, and now he's hoping to boost his prospects even more ahead of Kentucky's May 19th
00:21primary. The president's dislike of Massey is well-documented, but why has Galrine specifically
00:27earned his endorsement? The Post's White House reporter Emily Gooden breaks it down.
00:31When Caroline Levitt described today's trip to Ohio and Kentucky, she said the president would
00:36be bringing friends and supporters on Air Force One with him. One person not invited is Thomas Massey.
00:42The Kentucky congressman has repeatedly annoyed President Trump and in several different ways.
00:48You have domestically, where he's opposed the president's agenda and voted against his one
00:53big, beautiful bill. You have in foreign policy, where Rep Massey has accused the president of
00:58executive overreach in these strikes in Iran and his strikes on the drug boats in the Caribbean.
01:04And the biggest one of all, Rep Massey was the Republican lawmaker leading the charge to get
01:10the Justice Department to release all of those Jeffrey Epstein files. So President Trump has a long
01:16list of reasons to dislike the congressman. But President Trump has found a new champion,
01:21an Ed Galrine, who's running against Massey in the May primary. This person is a former military veteran.
01:30He's a farmer. But most importantly, he supports the president in all he does. And President Trump
01:36supports loyalty above all else. But on the bigger picture, what people are looking at in this May primary
01:43is that it's a test of President Trump's ability, whether or not he can bring out his supporters
01:49to get a new candidate in, or if Rep Massey's long ties to the district will keep him safe.
