00:00I think it's going to be emotional when the survivors speak publicly, some of them for the first time.
00:07And hopefully it will compel my colleagues to ignore the threats from the White House.
00:12The White House has said that it would be a hostile act to support my legislation to release the Epstein files.
00:20And I think that's a very serious accusation, and I think it's false.
00:26And I wonder why they've taken that position.
00:28I think it's a tacit admission from the White House that the release of documents from the Oversight Committee is not complete.
00:36Otherwise, why would they be against a full release of the documents?
00:40What do you make of that release of so-called 33,000 features of Epstein files?
00:45What does that include?
00:47Well, we've been through a few thousand of them.
00:51The ones that are new, like the flight logs, are completely redacted.
00:55Literally every name in it is redacted.
00:58It's all being carefully curated by the DOJ, and I think it's not going to provide any justice for the victims or transparency.
01:09The Department of Justice, they must understand that this recalcitrant sort of fuels conspiracy theories.
01:15What do you suppose there's motive behind their inability to basically be transparent?
01:22Well, there's some very rich Republican donors in these flight logs, I'm sure.
01:27There's some of them in the Black Book that we already have for many years.
01:31And it's about rich and powerful people who are connected to politicians in different ways who are getting a pass.
01:40They seem to be above the law.
01:43You know, maybe a lot of them didn't do anything illegal, and so they just want to avoid embarrassment.
01:49Maybe these were extramarital affairs that they were having or whatnot.
01:54But I think in this case we need to know all of the facts, because the victims who are going to talk today at our press conference need some kind of closure.
02:05Thank you, sir.
02:06Congressman, have any of your other colleagues signaled they're close to signing on to your discharge position?
02:11I think there are several that are on the fence, yeah.
02:15Are you actively, you know, in discussions with them about it?
02:18I haven't really talked to a lot of people.
02:21I do find it interesting that the three co-sponsors are women.
02:26Maybe they have immunity from the threats from the White House.
02:30I do think it's disgusting that the White House has called their co-sponsorship a hostile act now.
02:36So you have the White House telling women who are trying to help women who've been sexually exploited that that's somehow a hostile act.
02:46When you say threats, is the White House threatening any retribution that people sign on to the discharge position?
02:52Well, they've called it a hostile act.
02:55Do you know whether the DOJ is planning to hand over additional documents?
03:00I know it was referred to as the first batch, but do you think more are actually coming to the Oversight Committee?
03:04I don't know if more are coming, but the ones that have been released are so redacted as to be useless.
03:12It's not really a release of documents when you redact the whole page and every name on it.
