00:14San Francisco 49ers longtime head coach Kyle Shanahan
00:17was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in severe injuries.
00:2240 stitches to his face, multiple broken bones, a broken nose and a severe concussion
00:28and that leaves his status for training camp in quite a bit of limbo.
00:33Kyle's going to be limited to start training camp,
00:36not quite sure when he's going to be able to resume full activities.
00:38But for the time being, Chris Forrester, his assistant head coach,
00:42will take over some of those head coaching responsibilities
00:44and their offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator
00:48will kind of run the ship on both sides of that ball.
00:50But certainly not the way the 49ers wanted to start their season.
00:54Obviously, huge expectations in the Bay Area as there are here in Los Angeles for the Rams.
01:00We're talking Super Bowl aspirations,
01:01not the start that the 49ers wanted to get off to this year without a doubt.
01:06But more than anything, and I think this is being expressed throughout the NFL,
01:10is that Kyle is doing better and is on the road to recovery.
01:13And that's the most important thing.
01:15Football is a little bit secondary here,
01:17but clearly not the way the 49ers wanted to start this season.
