00:30The Philippines is set to host the ASEAN Business Environment Forum
00:33as part of the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Economic Minister's Retreat on Wednesday, March 11.
00:39According to DTI Committee on Business and Investment Promotion Executive Director Benedict Uy,
00:45the forum is made possible in partnership with the Asia Development Bank or ADB
00:49and is aimed at showcasing ideas and best practices that will strengthen ASEAN's position
00:54as an attractive destination for foreigners who want to invest in the region.
00:58The conduct of the forum is also timely due to the continuing geopolitical tensions happening in the world
01:03such as the Middle East tensions and the trade war between the United States and China.
01:08With such disruptions, stifling progress, the same can be viewed as opportunities to capitalize and develop new trading dynamics.
01:19Alliances that we have once viewed as unbreakable have begun searching for partners elsewhere in the globe.
01:28Representatives from the public and private sectors from ASEAN member states will come together
01:33to boost the ASEAN business environment through regulatory reforms and investment facilitation,
01:39strengthen public-private collaboration to improve responsive policymaking and business-friendly policies,
01:45and promote digitalization and e-government services to improve transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business.
01:52But what is the interest of an ordinary Filipino in this meeting?

01:57Ensuring that discussions directly support ministerial-level policy conversations.
02:03Ease of doing business, public-private collaboration, and digitalization remain priority areas for ASEAN member states.
02:12Also one of the discussions at the forum will be issues facing micro-small-medium enterprises or MSMEs in the
02:19region.
