00:00My name is Peter Glass. I've got a 25 acre property in Robertson and for the
00:09last few years I've been growing or trying to grow big pumpkins. Thankfully
00:16each year I've grown a little bit heavier one than the previous year. This
00:22year I won Robertson Show giant pumpkin challenge with a 58 kilo pumpkin. Next
00:33year I hope to better that. We haven't had the best summer for pumpkins this
00:42year. Pumpkins require a lot of water and a lot of sun and we've had plenty of
00:49water but not much sun. So I'm quite happy with the one I did grow but I aim to
01:00better that next year and in the coming years. Giant pumpkins have really taken
01:05off at Robertson Show. A few years back you mightn't have seen many at all, one or
01:13two maybe. But now this year we had a lot so there's a lot of people out there
01:20trying to better 58 kilos. I've been generous with the seed. I've handed out
01:29to my giant pumpkin seeds to plenty of people and even schools now have asked
01:40me for some seeds so that the kids can grow big pumpkins in the vegetable patches
01:46at their school, high schools. So it's catching on. It's not only catching on in
01:53Robertson but it's catching on in all over the country. There's giant pumpkin
02:02competitions competitions up up north and down south in Tumut and places like that.
02:09They're aiming to have giant pumpkin festivals. So it's catching on in, it's been big in
02:18America for many years but it's now catching on in Australia. So you can, you'll be on the
02:27lookout because the pumpkins will only get bigger as people learn more of the
02:33growing techniques and you know how to how to get them big.
