00:00Hey kids, gather around for an amazing story from long, long ago.
00:04Imagine a city called Jericho.
00:07It was a super pretty place, with lovely buildings and sunny skies.
00:11But it had a big, big problem.
00:13The water in the city was yucky.
00:15Not just a little bit yucky, but really bad.
00:18It was so bad that when people used it to water their gardens,
00:21the plants wouldn't grow, and the fruit trees wouldn't make any fruit.
00:25The land was unfruitful, and even worse, the water was making people and animals sick.
00:31The whole city was sad because of this bad water.
00:34The leaders of Jericho knew they needed help.
00:37They had heard about a very special man, a prophet named Elisha.
00:41Elisha was a friend of God, and they believed he might know what to do.
00:45So, they went to him and said,
00:48Elisha, our city is in a beautiful spot, but the water is terrible.
00:53It causes death and makes our land barren.
00:55Please, can you help us?
00:58They were desperate for a solution.
01:00They knew that without good water, their city couldn't survive.
01:03Elisha listened to their problem.
01:05He was a kind man and wanted to help.
01:07He said to them,
01:08Bring me a brand new bowl, and put some salt in it.
01:12A new bowl.
01:13And salt?
01:14That sounds a little strange.
01:16Doesn't it?
01:17Why would he need that?
01:18The men did exactly as he asked.
01:20They brought him a shiny new bowl, never used before, and filled it with clean white salt.
01:26They trusted that Elisha had a plan, even if it seemed a bit odd.
01:30Elisha took the bowl of salt and walked to the source of the water,
01:33the spring where all the yucky water was coming from.
01:36This was the heart of the problem.
01:38If they could fix the water here, all the water in Jericho would be clean.
01:42When he got to the spring, he did something amazing.
01:46He threw the salt right into the water.
01:48As he did, he spoke with a loud, clear voice.
01:51This is what the Lord says.
01:53I have healed this water.
01:55Never again will it cause death or make the land unfruitful.
01:58Guess what happened next?
02:00It was a miracle.
02:01Instantly, the water changed.
02:03All the bad stuff in it disappeared.
02:05It became clean, fresh, and pure.
02:08It was like magic.
02:10But it wasn't magic.
02:12It was the power of God working through Elisha.
02:14The yucky, poisonous water was completely healed.
02:18It was a total transformation.
02:20From that very moment, the spring bubbled up with wonderful, life-giving water.
02:25The people of Jericho couldn't believe their eyes.
02:28The city leaders and everyone else were overjoyed.
02:31They could finally drink the water without getting sick.
02:34They could water their fields, and for the first time in a long time,
02:38their crops began to grow strong and healthy.
02:40The fruit trees started to produce juicy, delicious fruit.
02:44The whole city came back to life.
02:46The sadness was gone, replaced by laughter and thankfulness.
02:51Life in Jericho was good again, all because the water was healed.
02:55Now, you might be thinking, was it the salt that fixed the water?
02:59That's a great question.
03:01Elisha used salt, but the real power didn't come from the salt itself.
03:05Salt was often used back then as a symbol of cleaning and preserving things.
03:09The real power came from God.
03:12Elisha was following God's instructions.
03:14When Elisha spoke God's words over the water, that's when the miracle happened.
03:19It was God's promise and God's power that made the water pure.
03:24The new bowl and the salt were just part of the special way God chose to show his power.
03:28This miracle showed everyone that God is incredibly powerful and that he cares for his people.
03:34He can take something that is broken and bad and make it brand new and wonderful.
03:38He can turn a sad situation into a happy one.
03:41Elisha's authority as a prophet was confirmed, showing everyone that he truly spoke for God.
03:47It was a huge sign of God's love and mercy for the people of Jericho.
03:52And here's the coolest part of the story.
03:54The Bible tells us that the water in Jericho stayed pure.
03:57It wasn't just a temporary fix.
04:00God's healing was permanent.
04:01From that day on, the water remained wholesome and good to drink.
04:05Even today, thousands of years later, there is a spring near the old city of Jericho that people call Elisha's
04:12spring, and its water is still fresh and sweet.
04:16It's a lasting reminder of this incredible miracle and God's enduring care.
04:20So, what can we learn from this story?
04:23It teaches us that when things seem hopeless, we can ask for help.
04:27The people of Jericho went to Elisha, and Elisha turned to God.
04:31It also shows us that God has the power to fix any problem, no matter how big it seems.
04:37He can bring life and healing where there was sickness and sadness.
04:41Just like God healed the water for an entire city, He can bring healing and renewal into our lives, too.
04:47It's a beautiful story about hope, transformation, and the amazing, miraculous power of God's love.
04:54Thanks for listening, everyone.
