00:02On Friday, Bronwyn Patterson sat down with Liberal leader Ashton Hearn to talk about her late partner's experience with the
00:09state's health system.
00:11Stephen King had terminal cancer and died in the RAH last year after waiting almost two hours for an ambulance
00:18and being ramped for more than an hour.
00:21I guess disappointment as to how his life ended.
00:26In response to her story, the government released private correspondence sent to the Premier in 2023 from Stephen King, a
00:35man with terminal cancer who was glowing of his public health treatment.
00:39Problem is, the email's author was not Bronwyn's partner, but a completely different person with the same name.
00:47Did you mind if I just have a drink? I'm sorry, I actually feel quite sick after reading that.
00:52Look, so clearly the government made an error here and I've got to say, I reckon it's a pretty poor
00:58one.
00:58The Liberals are demanding an investigation.
01:01I think there are serious questions that they've got to come out and answer.
01:04Like, who directed the staff to go through the Premier's emails and dig up this dirt to try and discredit
01:12Bronwyn?
01:12I don't think it was to discredit anybody.
01:14The Premier says the intention of releasing the email was so the media had all the facts at hand, but
01:20the blunder shouldn't have happened, which coincided with the one year anniversary of Mr King's death.
01:27I'm not going to defend it.
01:28I mean, because that was an error made by a group of people that should have done double and triple
01:33checking, plain and simple.
01:34This email bungle is a major misstep for Labor in what's been a carefully controlled campaign.
01:40Ramping is a sore point for the government, but so far the issue has been largely out of the headlines
01:46this election.
01:47Ms Patterson has told the ABC the Health Minister Chris Pickton has apologised and she'll be meeting him later this
01:54week to discuss her late partner's treatment.
01:57The Minister has also sent an email to the other Stephen King to say sorry.
