Iran has reportedly launched Kheibar Shekan medium-range ballistic missiles as part of a major escalation in its retaliation campaign against U.S. and Israeli targets. The solid-fuel missile, with a range of about 1,450 kilometers and a 450–600 kilogram warhead, can be launched from mobile transporter-erector-launchers and is designed for rapid deployment.
Iranian sources claim the missile is equipped with maneuverable reentry vehicle technology intended to evade missile-defense systems such as Iron Dome, Patriot, and David’s Sling. Nighttime salvos targeting U.S. bases in the Gulf and areas near Israel signal a significant intensification of the conflict and heightened regional security concerns.
