00:00Donald Trump is in retreat.
00:03Today is a perfect example of that, with first firing of a high-profile cabinet member.
00:09He's in retreat in places like Minnesota, because the steel spine of citizens that stood
00:15up, real patriots in this country, pushed back against all that.
00:22And you're seeing it globally, and it's, again, you're exactly right.
00:25That's why Trump is acting out as he always does, weakness, masquerading as strength.
00:33This notion of weakness has marked a lot of my frustration, and this, I'm not here to,
00:39and this is not, I'm not trying to bash my party, but this time, sometimes it's necessary.
00:46But this time last year, I was worried, you may have felt differently, you may have said
00:52we got this.
00:54But I didn't feel that this time last year.
00:57I did, you know, Jack, right after Trump was elected, I got a lot of criticism from members
01:01of my own party because I did a special session of the legislature to prepare, they referred
01:07to in the press as Trump-proofing California.
01:09And that wasn't the frame I used, but I understood that frame in the context of having understood
01:15Trump and Trumpism 1.0.
01:19I was there, we write about it in the epilogue briefly, this is not a book about my governorship,
01:26but in the epilogue I write about a story that Jack was referring to and a little bit about
01:29Trump and how I met him during my transition.
01:32For the first time I was on Marine One, Air Force One, by the way, there's some good stories
01:37here.
01:38As he's taking me on the royal tour of the plane into his bedroom, and a lot of just
01:45saying you want.

02:08We just announced our sixth, I think it's our 60th lawsuit against Trump.
02:12I don't think there's been, you know, 60 weeks since he's been elected.

02:23This guy, I was down on this book tour.
02:26We kicked it off down there in Atlanta and it was, you know, I met with the commissioners
02:30down there in Fulton County.
02:31I mean, he's taking, he's going to take over that commission so he can manipulate and manage
02:38the outcome, one of the most critical swing districts in the United States, for the election
02:43this November.
02:43We saw what happened on election day in California last November when we had an initiative on
02:49the ballot.
02:50Prop 50 sent out BORTAC teams.
02:51These are the Border Patrol tactical units.
02:54The guys dressed up, you know, right out of, you know, this is the Apache helicopter guys.
02:59And they were all sent out to Dodger Stadium the morning of the election to send a message
03:04to our diverse communities.
03:06You may not want to show up to vote.
03:08Trump sent out on True Social that morning, the election was rigged, sent out election monitors
03:12from the DOJ, Pambandi, who the next day announced the election was rigged and they observed it,
03:18went to the Supreme Court.
03:20They are not screwing around.
03:21He wants to federalize the election.
03:23He says he wants to nationalize it one day, just 15 states' elections because of the corruption.
03:29What's the SAVE Act?
03:30That's not about ID.
03:32It's about registration.
03:33It's about who gets to vote, who doesn't get to vote.
03:36They are not screwing around.
03:39We will lose this country.
03:42But first we cannot lose our minds over this shock and awe.
03:47And so I just want to long-windedly sort of back to the introduction here.

03:56up if you'd given up.
