00:00Here to keep us company this week to talk about brand new music is Kane Brown.
00:04We were just talking about your kiddos.
00:06I was asking, is Kingsley, will she go to school this year or is she old enough yet?
00:09So she's homeschooled.
00:10She's homeschooled.
00:11Okay, got it.
00:12But is she like technically kindergarten, first grade now?
00:14Yeah, but her teacher says she's advanced.
00:17Oh, first daughter energy as always.
00:20So is Caitlin doing all the homeschool stuff or do you have somebody who moves in?
00:23No, we have a teacher that comes in.
00:24You do?
00:25Okay.
00:25I was going to say, that's a lot to put on like mom to handle that.
00:28Yeah, we did homework in Florida because our teacher couldn't come down there.
00:34And we had to do it for a week.
00:36And just getting them to focus.
00:41I'm sure it's difficult.
00:43Yeah, so I think bringing in a teacher, it makes that school atmosphere.
00:46It changes it.
00:47Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:48Exactly.
00:49I also feel like, have you seen those funny like reels about parents who are like checking their calculator,
00:54helping their kids do like third grade math because they don't know what the answer is?
00:57The good thing was I was really good at math.
00:59So anything math, I love.
01:01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:01Do you know how weird that is that like somebody in the entertainment industry is good at math?
01:04Like that's why most of us are here is because I couldn't do math.
01:07I don't know.
01:08That was just my thing.
01:09Algebra, like I would beat the teacher.
01:11Really?
01:11That's awesome.
01:12Yeah, I loved it.
01:13So Kingsley's doing great with school.
01:15How are Cody and crew?
01:18Those two are wrecking balls.
01:20Really?
01:21Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:21Because Cody doesn't know if she wants to be the older sister or the baby.
01:27So she'll bounce back and forth and you never know which Cody you're going to get.
01:30Uh-huh.
01:31And then crew is just, I mean, he's just a straight dude.
01:35Like just running around, smashing into things, hitting people.
01:40But he's, I don't know.
01:41It's so different having a boy.
01:43I'm sure.
01:43I was laughing at the video you posted.
01:45It was like you and crew in a golf cart and you're like twins.
01:47And like he literally is your twin.
01:49Yeah.
01:50It's so wild.
01:50I love it.
01:51What do you feel like has been a fun thing like learning now going from like girl dad to having
01:55a little boy?
01:55Like I thought that I was sweet on my girls.
01:59Uh-huh.
02:00But there's something about my little boy that like I wanted to be tough, right?
02:05But I cannot get on to him.
02:07But he also, if I do get on to him, he's such a like drama.
02:13Like he's only, he's about to be two.
02:15But if you get on to him and he thinks he did something wrong, his head just goes.
02:19Oh.
02:20And he drops down and he'll just walk to a wall and put his forehead against the wall.
02:25Oh, my God.
02:27So afterwards, I was like, I got to go hug him.
02:28Like you, you're like, he feels so bad.
02:30I don't want to make him feel worse.
02:32And then Kate just looks at me.
02:33She's like, that's crazy.
02:35Because I'm, because I discipline my daughters.
02:38So when it comes to, I don't know, she's like, you have such a soft spot for him.
02:41That's so funny because usually, yeah, it's the opposite.
02:43Dads are like, I'm going to toughen you up.
02:44I think it's because I see myself in him.
02:46Yeah.
02:47So it's like.
02:47I'm sure there's parts of that that are like very, very healing too as an adult.
02:51Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:51To like look at this little kid and be like, that's me basically.
02:53Yeah, because you can do it with daughters.
02:55But I mean, if you're a boy, of course, you know.
02:57Yeah, totally.
02:58Well, listen, let's talk about new music.
03:00This new song, Woman.
03:01Tell me about this.
03:02I don't know who wrote this.
03:03Did you ride on this?
03:04Where did this come from?
03:05What story did it?
03:05So this is going back to like the old days.
03:08I kind of just followed my gut and felt like, you know, I knew what was going to happen.
03:13And I got away from that for a while.
03:15I've been looking for the feeling.
03:16I couldn't find it and we did this writer's camp and there's a lot of things that led
03:25up to this point.
03:26But we wrote like seven songs in the day and I kind of just got exhausted.
03:32I was like, I don't feel like writing anymore.
03:34We're finishing this one song we were working on and I just got up to go warm up my food.
03:42And as I'm warming up my food, this title just falls in my lap.
03:48So they're talking about girls, but I got a woman.
03:51And then I was like, ooh.
03:52So I went and sat down and I told her, I think I got the next song we're going to
03:55work on.
03:56And they said, what is it?
03:57And I told them.
03:57And they're like, where's that been all day?
03:59I said, I literally just thought about it in the kitchen.
04:03And it just, I don't know, it kind of just wrote itself.
04:06And whenever we all heard it, I mean, you know, Ashley Gorley, he's got like 135 number
04:11ones.
04:11Oh my God, that's insane.
04:13But whenever he heard it, he was like, yeah, I'm not writing the rest of the day.
04:16And we just, we just all fell in love with it.
04:18And I just feel like this song is going to be massive.
04:21Isn't that such a funny thing about creativity is you can be like banging your head against
04:25a wall and something won't come to you.
04:26And then it's as simple as standing in front of the microwave and you're like, where did this
04:30come from?
04:31That's so fun.
04:31And I feel like, I'm glad to hear that you wrote it.
04:33Because when I heard it, I was like, this sounds like something Kane wrote, just like
04:36knowing your relationship with your wife.
04:38And what was her reaction when you first played it for her?
04:41She loved it.
04:42And then she, you know, as you keep listening to the song, it's kind of like an earworm song.
04:47Yeah.
04:47And you just can't get it out of your head.
04:48I really, the melody, the production to it really reminds me of just like a fun, like
04:52summer Kane song.
04:54Yeah.
04:54It reminds me, I've been listening.
04:56It's brought me back to listening to, I don't know why, but like, I feel like a woman
05:02from Shania Twain and then, uh, uh, girls just want to have fun.
05:07It kind of like, for some reason it feels like it's in that realm, which is a big realm
05:12to be in, but I hope that, I feel like that's what it's going to do.
05:14Yeah.
05:14It's very catchy.
05:15Is that why you wanted this to be the next single?
05:19Yeah.
05:19Well, I mean, once we finished this and it was like a no brainer that this was a single,
05:23um, and you know, we have to go through, um, other people like Sony and everybody's got
05:28to make sure and everybody agreed.
05:30It was nice.
05:30That's awesome.
05:31It reminds me of like, uh, what was like short skirt weather or something like that era
05:36from you?
05:37Like early album days.
05:39We brought that back in our show.
05:40Did you?
05:41I, there are so many good songs on that album.
05:44Like I loved that record.
05:46I want, I almost thought about remastering that song too and taking it, uh, maybe giving
05:50it a radio chance.
05:52I didn't know.
05:52Isn't that like, that's the thing to be that like, I hate, there's so many like songs
05:55that get left behind, like in the process of like the, like how quickly you pump out
05:58new music that it's hard, but like, God, that was such a fun song.
06:02I did love that.
06:03All right.
06:03So it's been almost a year since the last album came out.
06:06You said you're at this writing camp.
06:07So like, what is timeline on like next album?
06:10Do you know yet?
06:11Or, um, so this album, we're, we got to get done.
06:15I think it was by July.
06:16Um, so that we do have a date.
06:18I did.
06:19I've just been saying, I almost said it.
06:21I was just saying my mom's birthday.
06:23So you just got to search up my mom's birthday.
06:24Okay.
06:25It's a fun little game.
06:26But yeah, if we don't get it done, like mastered and everything, uh, by sometime in July, then
06:31it gets moved.
06:32Okay.
06:33Got it.
06:33So you're like on a tight deadline trying to get all that done.
06:35But we have, we've, like I said, we've written so many songs.
06:37I love all of them.
06:39Um, uh, a lot of good messages, um, a lot different than my last album.
06:44My last album, just to be completely honest with you, I felt like it was a little, it was
06:48a little rushed.
06:49Um, like I couldn't, when people were asking me like what the name was, like I just, I felt
06:53like I was kind of on autopilot.
06:56Um, like I just wasn't there.
06:57I was just kind of, you know, but now I'm like more motivated than ever feel like, you
07:02know, this is like my, my jump.
07:05Yeah.
07:06So this, this album's the one.
07:07Well, I'm glad to hear that.
07:08Like you also, you just said like, you have been like looking for a feeling that you haven't
07:13been able to find, like now you feel like you're back at that again.
07:15Do you feel like there was like, do you feel like the song was the catalyst to that?
07:18Or like, how do you feel like you found it?
07:20No, no, no.
07:20It was a lot of working out, I think.
07:23Um, and just kind of getting that competitive grind again.
07:25Uh, I don't play video games no more.
07:27I think that could be another big thing about it.
07:30I was going to ask you about that because you were always gaming.
07:32Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:33Um, and when, when I first got into the business, I, I would game, you know, maybe one or two
07:38hours a day.
07:39But, um, I was just, you know, focused on music and focused on videos and content and
07:44putting all that stuff out there.
07:45So, uh, now I think with the working out and the stages of working out and getting into
07:51boxing, bringing my competitiveness back and then not having anywhere else to put it, it's
07:56made me like want to put it towards music since I don't game.
07:59How is boxing going?
08:01Cause that is not an easy thing to get into.
08:03Yeah, yeah.
08:04It's fun.
08:04And I have a great coach that pushes me if, even if I don't want to do it.
08:08Um, and once I get finished, that's what tells me like, you know, you can do anything,
08:13put your mind to.
08:14Truly.
08:14Cause like it, to me, I'm always like, it looks like such an easy thing, but like once you
08:18start like doing it, it is like one of the most exhausting workouts that you can do.
08:22Yeah.
08:23And if you put your hands down, you're going to get hit.
08:25Yeah, exactly.
08:27Um, all right.
08:28So next chapter of music, you said there's a lot of really important messages on this album.
08:32What else do you feel like this album says?
08:34Like when you say like, you feel like this is like level up for you?
08:37Um, well, when I say level up, I think just like, I think you'll see a different light
08:42when I'm performing and, and, um, my artistry.
08:47Cause I'm trying to bring like, I'm trying to dance and do all this stuff.
08:50That's just not done.
08:50I feel like for the last decade, I've kind of tried to fit in the box of what everybody's
08:55wanted me to be in.
08:56And I've tried to please the wrong people, um, and not really be me and not really get
09:00to do my, or like please my fans and just show them, you know, I'm excited.
09:04And, and I found that light again.
09:06So I think that's what people is going to see the difference in the music.
09:09I'm excited to just like see some choreo in these shows.
09:12Yeah.
09:12There's, there's still going to, they're going to get better and better.
09:14I'm still trying to get out that, you know, get out of my shell, but it's still, I feel
09:18like that's something that not many people do in country and like having backup dancers
09:21and stuff like that.
09:22And good choreo is really important.
09:23Like Kelsey did a lot of that on her last tour.
09:25And I thought, I was like, this is amazing.
09:26Yeah.
09:27So that's going to be, it's going to be awesome.
09:29And the music's, the music, uh, is, you know, you can do it.
09:34I don't really know how to explain it, but just that music is, it's, it's, it's right
09:38for dancers.
09:39Okay.
09:39I like to hear that.
09:41Um, let's talk about your next big project that you just recently announced.
09:44You are opening a bar on Broadway, like right up the street.
09:47Talk about this.
09:48Um, yes, I was driving down here.
09:50I was like, yo, my name's about to be on a sign on Broadway.
09:53Um, yeah, I'm pumped.
09:55We've had it for like two years.
09:56Okay.
09:56Uh, but just now we, we jumped from bar to bar just to kind of check and see what everybody
10:02was doing, what was working, what wasn't working and, and got to put that into our
10:07bar instead of just rushing in it and just putting my name on it and, um, saying, here
10:11we go.
10:12Yeah.
10:12I'm excited that the people are going to get to go in and feel like they're at my home.
10:17Um, you know, with the stuff we picked out and some of the ideas and, uh, the merch
10:21and, um, it's all kinds of, it's going to, it's going to be cool.
10:25That's really fun.
10:25What are some things that you wanted to do that are like, that were different or like
10:29features that you're really excited about?
10:31Um, well, I would say a lot of it goes into the interior, um, of just like kind of what
10:36we would do at our home.
10:38Like it's not, you're not going to walk in and just see a bar.
10:40Like it's going to be cool things around like, um, and then they want it, they wanted to do
10:46like this shoe wing.
10:49Uh huh.
10:50Like, but I don't, we don't know yet.
10:52We haven't got that figured out, but these like shoes that you have had and like, yeah,
10:56yeah.
10:56And just put together.
10:57I'm sure you have an insane collection of shoes.
10:59I have a whole wall that I just, it just sits there and I'm like, I don't, I don't want
11:03to even want it.
11:04I don't even know they're there unless I go up the stairs.
11:06Yeah.
11:06But yeah, I don't know.
11:08I'm just really pumped about it.
11:09And then there's another, there's another cool bar that's inside of it that, um, it's called
11:12dusk.
11:13And that's kind of, that would kind of be like my hangout spot.
11:16The like speakeasy kind of vibe or like a little more like private room.
11:20Yeah.
11:20I can't, it kind of branches off of Broadway.
11:23Like when you go to dusk, I don't want you to feel like you're on Broadway.
11:25That's nice.
11:26But then when you're on the first floor, it's, you know, traditional Broadway spiced up a
11:30little bit.
11:30Cause there's three floors, right?
11:32Mm-hmm.
11:32Okay.
11:33So what will be, will every floor be different or like, what is the, I guess.
11:37Well, one's going to be like a rent out space for, um, like meetings and stuff.
11:42If you want to have parties, corporate stuff, we have so much of that here.
11:45There's a DJ in one floor.
11:46That might be dusk.
11:47I like that.
11:48We need that.
11:49Cause sometimes I like really want to go.
11:50And then, so you walk in, I think we're going to try and make that feel like Miami vibes.
11:54That's sick.
11:55Yeah.
11:55I think that's so important.
11:56Cause there's something like, I am very much like, I love the like EDM movement and like
12:01kind of like country remix vibes that are happening right now.
12:04I think that's so fun.
12:05Well, my bar, my bar, I want you to know, guys, I love like, I love all types of music.
12:10Country is my first.
12:11Um, but I just, I love all types of music.
12:14And I, when you go into my bar, I want you to know, I mean, all types of music is
12:17what
12:18my music is.
12:19So I just want you to feel like you're at home with me.
12:22Yeah.
12:23That's amazing.
12:24Okay.
12:24So bar is coming.
12:25That's a huge, like professional step or milestone.
12:28What else is like on the bucket list this year or things that you're really looking forward
12:32to or like trying to get to next?
12:33Um, just keep being better.
12:36Yeah.
12:37Yeah.
12:37Just, um, trying to come up with more ideas.
12:41Um, new music, of course.
12:45I'm about to write a lot.
12:46Uh, just redid my studios.
12:48You redid the studio at your house?
12:49Yeah.
12:49Yeah.
12:50Wait, but that hasn't been in there that long.
12:51No.
12:52Right.
12:52But it was too small.
12:53Okay.
12:54It wasn't, it was like, cause I wanted to record my albums in there and then we never did.
12:57So I just knocked this whole wall down and just made it bigger.
13:01And now you can fit so many more people.
13:02And it's so brighter, it's such, it's way more brighter and way more bright.
13:07I can't talk.
13:08My English is so bad.
13:10Uh, but I'm excited just to, to write more and get creative.
13:13That's awesome.
13:13Then you're playing a bunch of fairs and festivals this summer.
13:16Um, do you guys have any like fun family trips that you guys are doing this year around
13:20that?
13:20No.
13:21Um, we love Florida.
13:23So you guys are there most of the time now, right?
13:25Well, I've had it for three years and we've had some problems, which is another thing,
13:28but we've only been there maybe three months total.
13:32If you kind of added up all the days, maybe four.
13:34Oh no.
13:35That's kind of a bummer.
13:36Well, hopefully that gets figured out.
13:38I was thinking about you the other day cause I saw something, it was about fire country
13:42and I, I know that you said that you'd had such a good experience on that show.
13:46Is that still something that you guys are actively pursuing is like more acting opportunities?
13:50Uh, yeah.
13:51Um, we tried out for some stuff.
13:56Uh, don't think I got it.
13:59No.
13:59Okay.
14:00Well that, but you know what?
14:01Every no is closer to yes.
14:02Yeah.
14:02That's my, that's my thing.
14:04I think I'm more of a, uh, I'd rather be a director more than anything.
14:07I could see that.
14:08I could see you having like really good vision of being able to.
14:10I like writing.
14:12Like I have a movie that I think is awesome, but, um, about dreams.
14:16But, uh, yeah.
14:18Yeah, like about dreams when you're sleeping or like dreams that you have things you want
14:21to accomplish?
14:22Uh, do you want to, do you want to hear about it?
14:24Yeah, I do want to hear about it.
14:25So I, so I can dream and like, like in my dreams kind of, you know, just do whatever
14:31I want.
14:32You can.
14:33Mm-hmm.
14:33And so.
14:34What do they call that?
14:35Like lucid dreaming, right?
14:36Yeah, I think so.
14:37But you got to figure out how to do it.
14:38So I had the same dream four times in a row before I found out I was in a dream.
14:41And then once I unlocked that, then I was able to do it.
14:45So you just got to find small things while you're dreaming to realize that it's a dream.
14:49And it's like, it flips your brain to you being able to do it.
14:52I remember that somebody at some point in time was telling me about this early and they
14:55were like, if you can, if you realize you're dreaming and you can like look at your hand
14:59and like without waking yourself up, then you can kind of like know that you're dreaming
15:03and then control what happens next.
15:04But I usually realize I don't have a hand and I wake up.
15:09It's just, it's just small, yeah, small things, small details.
15:11So I had a dream about, the movie would basically be like me or whoever going through a dream
15:19and they're trying to write a movie.
15:20And so they're using the dream world as their, they can do whatever they want.
15:25Kind of like canvas, yeah.
15:26Yeah.
15:26And so then he ends up being at this bar or whatever.
15:28And this guy's saying, there's like somebody watching him, but we don't know who it is.
15:33Mm-hmm.
15:33And he's like, hey man, I know that you're doing all this in this world and you don't
15:39think there's any consequences, blah, blah, blah.
15:41But if you get caught, you won't wake up here.
15:43Ooh, I have chills.
15:45Like that's like, we're like inception-y kind of like get trapped in dream within a dream.
15:50So he's doing this to get out of the movie and he's like, yeah, whatever.
15:52He ends up getting hurt and then he wakes up and he's actually hurt in real life.
15:57And then basically he gets his, he gets his movie finished.
16:00Um, and I don't know if this is, I don't want to spoil the ending, but, uh, you know,
16:04he gets his movie finished.
16:06Um, but he gets caught by this being in there.
16:09And so he's basically in a coma and doesn't wake up, but his movie gets out and the movie
16:14comes to win all these awards and everything, but he doesn't get to, uh, see his accomplishments
16:23from the movie.
16:24So it's almost like it's, it's kind of a deeper message in there a little bit.
16:28Yeah.
16:29That's awesome though.
16:30I'm proud of you for doing that.
16:31That's like a really difficult thing to like jump into and try to do.
16:35Yeah.
16:35Went to, it took me six, six times of falling asleep and waking back up and writing it down
16:40to figure it out.
16:41That's the thing is like, I all the time, like we'll think of stuff either like right
16:44as I'm falling asleep or I'll dream something.
16:45It's like, if I don't write it down, it's gone forever.
16:47Like I'll know, I know I did last night.
16:49I know I had an idea for something and I fell asleep and don't know what it was now, which
16:53is crazy.
16:54Oh my God.
16:54That's awesome.
16:55I'm excited for you.
16:56Thanks.
16:56Okay.
16:56But the acting stuff did some auditions.
16:58How do you find the audition process?
16:59Because like, I think that that would be so terrifying.
17:03It's not terrifying.
17:04It's honestly, um, uh, when I'm, it's, it's fun finding the character.
17:11I think the hardest part is portraying the character.
17:13Like, uh, but it's cool because I feel like I'm back in the Facebook days of just me in front
17:19of a camera.
17:20Cause I'm not, it's not like I'm going to LA to try out.
17:22But I just try out in front of a camera and I send it in.
17:25Um, that's a wild to like, yeah, compare that to the days of Facebook.
17:30Cause I feel like there's probably like at this point, like you're so good at what you
17:33do.
17:33Like, it's probably fun to be challenged at this point to be like, can I do this?
17:37Yeah.
17:37It was just, you know, millions of takes.
17:40I'm like, I try to be a perfectionist.
17:42So I could be in there all day, just shooting the same scenes, uh, back to back to back.
17:48And then I don't know which one to use.
17:50I can't even imagine.
17:52That's so wild.
17:53Well, listen, I'm so excited for you.
17:55It sounds like all these like great things are going on.
17:56You seem like you're in such a good place.
17:58I'm happy to hear that.
17:59Happy to hear the kids and everybody are good.
18:01Appreciate you stopping by as always.
18:02Of course.
18:02Thanks for having me.
18:04Happy to hear the kids and everybody are good.
