Flash floods struck Nilai, including the PLUS Highway near the town, Thursday (March 5) evening, leaving vehicles trapped and motorists stranded.

Negri Sembilan Local Government, Housing, and Transport Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the state government has approved upgrades to the Desa Jasmin rainwater retention pond, while the Seremban City Council is enlarging culverts to help prevent future flooding.

00:44He added that the tender is now under evaluation, and the contractor is expected to be appointed next month.
00:51Arul Kumar said a small culvert at two entrances to Taman Semarak, often blocked by debris, contributed to road flooding.
01:00The Seremban City Council has appointed a contractor to enlarge the culvert, improve drainage, and reduce future risks.
01:08Plus, Malaysia reported traffic congestion of 10 kilometres southbound and 4 kilometres northbound during the floods,
01:15which forced hundreds of motorists to break their fast inside their vehicles.
01:20Arul Kumar said heavy rain, combined with nearby development projects, triggered the floods,
01:25and infrastructure upgrades are underway to prevent future flooding.
