Heavy rain lasting over an hour triggered flash floods across the Klang Valley on Wednesday (May 6) afternoon, stranding at least eight vehicles and causing major traffic congestion.

00:02Torrential rain for over an hour from about 3.30 p.m. on Wednesday
00:06triggered flash floods across parts of the Klang Valley,
00:10bringing traffic to a standstill and trapping at least eight vehicles.
00:14The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, JBPM Operations Centre,
00:19said it received emergency calls from several locations,
00:22including Jalan Awan Kecil in Taman OUG,
00:25Shri Pataling, Jalan Kuchai Lama towards Jalan Klang Lama
00:30and the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway Tunnel heading to Shri Pataling.
00:35A Malaysian Highway Authority, LLM, spokesman said
00:39flooding at kilometre 48.0 of the Shah Alam Expressway, Kursas,
00:44from Kinrara towards Awan Besar caused a four-kilometre jam from 4.27 p.m.
00:50Flooding was also reported on the Kuchai link
00:53and at kilometre 18.9 towards Maju Jaya, where one lane was submerged.
00:59Flooding was also reported near the Bukit Jalil LRT station
01:04and along the stretch from Bukit Jalil to Puchong Kinrara
01:08as well as on the Federal Highway, worsening congestion.
01:12In Pertaling Jaya, floodwaters at a food court in Section 51A
01:16rose to about 1.2 metres, submerging several vehicles,
01:20though no evacuations were needed as water levels receded.
