00:00Speaking of viral animal videos, did we all see the Punch video of the little monkey in Japan?
00:10Punch!
00:11Ash is going to cry.
00:13Punch the monkey has been pulling out her heartstrings, was abandoned by his mother in the zoo,
00:19and so the zookeepers gave Punch this orangutan stuffed animal that kind of acts as a surrogate mother.
00:25From Ikea.
00:26From Ikea. It's sold out at Ikea.
00:28Of course.
00:29Ikea in Japan, the president showed up with a bunch more stuffed animals and was like, you'll never run out.
00:35Punch is covered.
00:36My For You page is just a daily update on Punch. I can't get away from Punch now.
00:41Me either.
00:41I'm so proud of him because I just saw a video of him most recently.
00:45He stood up for himself against the other monkey bullies.
00:48Because the other monkeys aren't accepting him.
00:50It makes me really sad.
00:52And that's why he's named Punch because he got punched and then he ran into his plushie.
00:57But now, not only has he made a friend, made a friend, but he's starting to stand up for himself.
01:04And I'm really proud of him.
01:05But why are the grown up monkeys all bullying him and picking on him? It's so weird.
01:10I think it's because normally the adult monkeys, the parent figures, do the protecting.
01:15They do.
01:15And so, you know, right now, like, Punch is getting all the attention.
01:18I'm no, you know, primate-tologist.
01:22But Punch is getting all this attention from the zookeepers.
01:25And, you know, as time has gone by, Punch is also starting to physically interact with the other monkeys in
01:31a non-violent way.
01:32Yeah.
01:33I saw a video of an older monkey kind of grooming the insects out of his hair.
01:37So that's, like, very good social bonding.
01:39It's heading in the right direction.
01:41It is.
01:41Oh, I have been, like, a rollercoaster of emotions with Punch.
01:46I'm, like, crying.
01:46And then I'm so happy for him.
01:48And then he's so cute.
01:49But then I'm sad that his little monkey plushie is getting tattered.
01:52And what's he gonna do?
01:53And why does he think that this monkey plushie is his mom?
01:55Because it doesn't move?
01:56And is he okay?
01:57He provides warmth and comfort.
01:59I know.
01:59And softness.
02:00It's like him running to it for protection from the other monkeys.
02:03It's so sad.
02:04I know.
02:05Like, all the other monkeys have someone and he has no one.
02:09Lauren, I know.
02:10It's terrible.
02:11But now he's a friend.
02:12And I hope their friendship works out.
02:13I really do.
02:14But now, not only am I getting all the videos about Punch and every single update of everything that he
02:19does,
02:19but I'm also being served all of the memes about him, too.
02:23No, I sent one to Ashley yesterday.
02:25It was that video of Kris Jenner and, like, old Kardashians when she's, like,
02:28when she adopts a monkey for, like, a day.
02:30And I'm like, this is gonna be Ashley when she makes her husband fly to Japan to save Punch.
02:35Yeah, she has, like, a little chimpanzee on her hip and she's, like, going through her closet.
02:39This is, like, so old school Kardashian.
02:41So old school.
02:42And Lauren's like, that's gonna be you.
02:43I'm like, yes.
02:44No.
02:44That's, like, booking my flight to Japan.
02:46Like, all of the memes that are, like, who's joining my rescue party?
02:50When are we going to Japan?
02:52Like, the monkey on everyone's hip.
02:54We're going around the block at the zoo and the zoo keeps updating every day.
02:57So sorry it took us so long to get everyone in the door.
02:59We know you're here to see Punch the monkey.
03:01Yeah.
03:02I mean, it's crazy.
03:03Like, this is, like, the Harry Styles concert.
03:06I know.
03:07And I love that we find these little, like, baby animals and we become obsessed with them
03:11and, like, watch them, bro.
03:13Like, you know that?
03:14The little hippo.
03:15Shout out to one of our Page Sixers.
03:18She knows who she is.
03:20She did show me a tweet.
03:21It's like, how dare you compare Mudang to Punch?
03:24Because Punch has been through the ringer.
03:27He's from the streets.
03:29Okay?
03:30Mudang comes from privilege.
03:33You can't compare the two.
03:35Oh, my gosh.
03:36Mudang went viral for, like, biting a zookeeper's leg.
03:39Punch would never do that.
03:40Punch would never.
03:42Punch is a sweetheart.
03:42I mean, I was watching a video today and crying because Punch was in the rain.
03:46All the monkeys went into the enclosure.
03:48But Punch was waiting for the zookeeper to come out.
03:50Aww.
03:51Because it doesn't know where its loyalties lie.
03:54No, he doesn't have the nurturing parent that is in their community.
03:59That says, get inside.
04:00That is, like, training the babies.
04:02The stuffed animal has gone viral, and it's selling out on Ikea.
04:07And so now it's being resold on eBay for hundreds of dollars.
04:10Wow.
04:10Who knows if anyone's buying it, but it's being listed.
04:12Yeah.
04:13Which is so funny that these crazes happen where people are, you know.
04:16I do think the Ikea stuffed animal is cute.
04:19It is cute.
04:20But you know what would be even smarter marketing of Ikea?
04:22They should make a Punch the Monkey plushie
04:26and start selling it all around the world in all of their stores
04:30and then donate proceeds of the plush monkey back to the zoo in Japan.
04:35Because everybody would buy one of those.
04:37That's true.
04:37And I've even seen so many brands already kind of capitalizing on Punch
04:42and, like, he's not even getting any royalties for this.
04:45But they'll be like, oh, you know, like, me when I forget my lip balm
04:49and it's, like, him walking his little plush monkey and, like, looking sad.
04:54And then the brand is just promoting their own lip balm.
04:56I'm like, don't use him.
04:57But Ikea can.
04:59I'm also, like, starting to wonder if I'm being fed AI punch videos because I saw one where he was
05:04walking on hind legs.
05:05No, I don't know if that's AI or not.
05:07I think he's starting to learn how to walk on two legs.
05:09He's starting to figure it out.
05:10What is going on?
05:11Do monkeys do it?
05:13I think they do.
05:14I think they do.
05:14Okay.
05:15For a little bit, yeah.
05:15I'm like, is this monkey, like, copying the humans?
05:18Like, what's going on?
05:20Oh, my God.
05:20Could you imagine?
05:21Oh, my gosh.
05:21I just feel like every day he's growing and evolving and we're always seeing new updates and progress.
05:26And I don't know.
05:27I don't know this monkey, but I feel really proud of him.
05:30I know.
05:30I'm so attached to him as if, like, I'm part of his family.
05:34Even though he thinks he has no family.
05:36But little does he know.
05:37Oh, the whole world's family.
05:39I do wish I could go back in time and not watch that video of him going up to an
05:45adult monkey and having that monkey just shove him away.
05:48No.
05:49And then there's another video where he's grabbed and kind of tossed around.
05:53And Punch is okay. Punch is not injured.
05:54Punch is fine.
05:55But I'm also like, why are we recording?
05:58And where are the zookeepers?
06:00Like, oh, my gosh.
06:01I don't think they intervene with interprimate drama.
06:04I guess not.
06:05This is like a reality show.
06:06I was going to say, here's our new reality show.
06:08Oh, my God.
06:08Step aside, Taylor Frankie Paul.
