00:00Gayle King isn't leaving CBS anytime soon.
00:04The longtime anchor of CBS Mornings has inked a new deal with the network to remain on the show,
00:10while also taking on new projects with CBS.
00:12CBS News editor-in-chief Barry Weiss said in a statement,
00:16there is only one Gayle King. We're so proud that she'll continue to call CBS home.
00:21We're thrilled to have her on in the morning and equally excited to work with her on new
00:25enterprising projects that bring her talents to new audiences.
00:28King's prior contract had been set to end in May,
00:31leading to speculation about her future with the network under Weiss's leadership.
00:35In fact, King had to deny a report last year that she was going to leave the program.
00:39King said in a statement,
00:40rumors of my demise were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated.
00:44CBS News is my longtime home, and I am committed to our mission.
00:48I'm excited about continuing at CBS Mornings.
00:50As always, I'm open to new adventures here and ready to go.
00:53It took a minute, but we got there.
00:55And now that we are here, I am all in.
00:58CBS News is currently undergoing a restructuring process under Weiss's leadership,
01:02and King's ticking around gives CBS Mornings a level of stability amid whatever overhaul
01:07Weiss seeks to implement.
01:08Weiss had told CBS News staff in a town hall earlier this year that she was, quote,
01:12here to make CBS News fit for purpose in the 21st century.
