00:00This morning, I spoke with SNY's Jets reporter, Connor Hughes, on the Jets quarterback situation.
00:06And if Kyler Murray would be a good fit, here's what he had to say about the situation.
00:13All right, Connor, there's a lot of buzz about the Jets possibly being interested in Kyler Murray.
00:18One, have you heard anything? Two, does it make sense?
00:22Down at the NFL Combine, what the Jets were going to do at quarterback was the number one thing I
00:27wanted to figure out and analyze.
00:29And I talked to teams, I talked to agents, I talked to front office people, I talked to those who
00:34would know as the Jets start to piece this one together.
00:36And what came back is that Aaron Glenn hasn't yet decided what he wants at quarterback.
00:40It's going to take time. He's going to take his time, and eventually he'll figure it out.
00:44But I'm sure he has an idea of what he wants. He just hasn't necessarily told anybody yet.
00:49So this truly is a situation where the Jets are considering everything, and Kyler Murray will be a player that
00:55the Jets considered.
00:56But I just, look, I talked to two coaches and some people that worked over with him in Arizona the
01:02last couple of years.
01:03And I was told it would be a, quote, disaster, unquote, for him to come to New York.
01:08I mean, there's work ethic issues with there. There's desirability issues.
01:12There's whether or not he loves the game enough to continue playing.
01:15He didn't necessarily connect particularly well with teammates.
01:18And I was told he's just not a leader.
01:19So for Aaron Glenn, who has preached the need that he wants his quarterback to be one of 53, not
01:2552 and one other ones,
01:26you know, he doesn't want a celebrity quarterback, it doesn't make that much sense for me for them to pursue
01:32Murray.
01:33But talking to one person again who coached Murray in Arizona, he said that the one thing he could say
01:38about him
01:38was that he is a quarterback that is ridiculously talented.
01:41He has all the physical traits.
01:43And if you're looking for somebody that's just going to get you to a minimum of six, seven, maybe eight
01:47wins,
01:47he can absolutely accomplish that.
01:49So if Glenn is feeling the heat and Muji is feeling the heat and they need somebody who's going to
01:53give them
01:54at least a higher ceiling than some of these other prospects that are out there,
01:57then, yeah, Murray makes some sense.
01:59And certainly I will add this.
02:00I mean, players can change.
02:01A change of scenery can help people.
02:03And Glenn does have this feeling and this mantra that his culture
02:07and the way that he can connect with players, the way he can reach players,
02:10can help them turn their careers around and get more out of them than anyone else.
02:14So, yeah, it's possible.
02:15Also, Glenn has a relationship with Kyler Murray's dad, which can't be discounted.
02:19But I don't think it's something the Jets should pursue, even at that financial number,
02:23which is going to be $1.3 million.

02:29Who do you think is the best fit at quarterback for the Jets?
02:36It's so tough because some of these players that I like,
02:38their trade options.
02:40Tanner McKee, I think, would be awesome for the Jets.
02:42I do.
02:42I think he's a player who has some upside.
02:45He's flashed some ability with Philadelphia and spot duty.
02:48He's somebody that fits the Frank Wright mold of quarterback perfectly.
02:53But the problem with him, Brandon, is that it's not going to be cheap.
02:56I know he's a backup quarterback for the Eagles,
02:58but say Jalen Hurts blows out his knee in training camp.
03:02Say Jalen Hurts suffers an injury week, too, and has to miss the rest of the season.
03:05The Eagles, who have Super Bowl aspirations, are fully confident that if Tanner McKee had
03:10to step in and be their quarterback, they wouldn't lose very much.
03:14That's not an indictment on Jalen Hurts.
03:16That's telling you how much they value and appreciate Tanner McKee.
03:19So they are not going to give him away for cheap when they don't necessarily know if there's
03:23a backup option there for them to pursue that's going to give them as much as what McKee would
03:29compared to, you know, let's just keep him on the roster.
03:31Whether that fifth-round pick the Jets would love to part with or the fourth-round pick
03:34the Jets would love to part with, that's not worth it to the Philadelphia Eagles.
03:37So the asking price for McKee and the asking price for Mac Jones in San Francisco
03:41is about a second-round pick.
03:42And I don't know if that's something the Jets will be willing to move on from.
03:46So perfect world, it would be Tanner McKee.
03:47I just don't know if that's something the Jets can get done.

03:52Always breaking something, man.
03:53We're definitely going to keep our ears to that.
