00:13Belen de los Santos who is a host from pan-latin-american news network telesur
00:18discussed how the conflict is reverberating far beyond the region
00:22she reflected on latin america's fragile security landscape and drew a parallel
00:27between these seemingly distant crises well as usual as you know the region is very diverse
00:34that means that we have had different reactions but the most prominent one has been of course
00:39one to condemn the escalation of violations to condemn the attacks of the united states and
00:46israel against iran and also to understand that this has a direct impact in destabilizing
00:53the entire region and also the entire world you know that latin america is a zone of peace it has
01:00been and of course widely affected as well by the past events that have targeted that idea of it
01:07being a zone of peace and the global south in general and latin america in particular understands
01:12that their possibility for development for cooperation it really relies on a world that
01:20follows the laws of international guides and laws that is cohesive with the united nations as well so
01:28we've seen of course government cuba for example one of the first to condemn this escalation
01:35of violence and the attacks on iran mostly as a way of just going against international law but we've also
01:43seen these statements from brazil for example and other main powers in the region i think the idea
01:51of maintaining those guidelines is one of the most important for latin america in general well of course
01:57the region in general is going through some very difficult times you would just mention the attacks
02:03on venezuela although we need to remind everyone that the venezuelan government continues to work even
02:10though it was attacked on january 3rd we're also seeing a situation in cuba in which the united states
02:16has imposed an oil blockade that is directly targeting the people's capacity to continue unfolding
02:22their normal lives i think it is u.s imperialism the thing that ties everything together what latin america
02:29is going through with what is happening right now in the middle east the decision of some powers in the
02:35world
02:36that they are able to directly intervene in this case in the form of a military attack as we have
02:42had
02:42in latin america as well at the beginning of the year in order to impose what they think is best
02:49of course
02:49for their own interests and latin america as what the united states is always calling as supposedly their backyard
02:59their area of influence is one directly impacted by this new stage of u.s imperialism trying to impose
03:07by force every day their will upon the world so i think that is something that the governments here and
03:14also the social movements are particularly looking at and will continue to look at how the peoples of the
03:21world continue to react if they are going to stand up against this continuous acts of violence against
03:29different countries in order to impose the will of a few powers in the world
03:56This is the other side of the war
