00:01Three men and a 17-year-old boy have pleaded guilty in a magistrate's court to stealing a donation box
00:08from a mosque in Shah Alam.
00:10The court heard on Tuesday that all four accused admitted to stealing the steel box, worth 2,000 ringgit, from
00:17Masjid Section 2jo at around 4am on February 22nd.
00:21The charge was brought under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison term of up to
00:2810 years and a fine upon conviction.
00:31Car wash worker K. Tineshwaran, aged 26, truckloader R. Nishanraj, aged 22, and factory operator R. Dinesh, aged 27, were
00:42sentenced to six months in jail and fined 4,000 ringgit.
00:45The sentence was to commence on Tuesday, and failure to pay the fine could add up to three more months
00:52behind bars.
00:53As one of the accused is a minor, the court ordered a welfare report to be submitted by the Social
00:59Welfare Department by April 28th before deciding on sentencing.
01:04During the closed proceedings, the court allowed the minor to be released on bail of 1,500 ringgit with one
01:11surety.
01:12Previously, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kaha reaffirmed there was no provocation in the case.
01:19The investigation found the theft occurred out of desperation and a need for money.
