00:00We just saw a race in 250 East competition. He's up with the big boys now at just 16. So
00:10all these youngsters have their sights, their eyes, their goals on making it to the big time.
00:16But this is just such a wonderful experience to race under the lights in front of the big
00:20names of the sport and this huge crowd here at the World Center of Racing. Yeah, I agree.
00:25Yeah, go. No, go ahead, James. Yeah, no, we had a chance to speak to some of these riders
00:29and I asked them, was there a lot of confidence just watching Dudley and all these guys move
00:34up? And they say, yeah, because you look at the lap times, these kids have the speed to
00:38run top five in the 250 class. So I know they're young, but they're here.
00:43And you think about Landon Gordon and Muneer right there with number 180 and 99. They ride,
00:48I mean, with all these guys from that star team every single day. So they have that rabbit
00:53to chase and they're right there with them. Deacon Ditto got second the last time they
00:59come to life for an S.M.S. next. Ready to go. S.M.S. next here in Daytona. Huge
01:06moment for these
01:07youngsters of the sport. What about that? Deacon Ditto. Oh, several down. Coming out.
01:16Remember, he got second back in Houston. And what a start.
01:25flying on the triumph out in front no oh bitches down hey Johnson in second
01:31remember he won last year smx next race all the way back what was it talks for
01:38Foxborough that's right the mud the hardest part for these guys it's been a
01:42few hours since they've been on the track and his tracks has changed a lot
01:45they've got to be patient I know they get excited and the other thing this
01:49race is gonna go by pretty quick with these longer lap times these guys are
01:52only getting six or seven laps as Dino's makes the pass for the lead RC yeah they
01:58got fresh from Florida on that bike and he's looking mighty fresh right here in
02:03Florida I watch him they made a lot of improvements on that bike and just the
02:07progression and what they're able to do and improve hold on that was Kate
02:12Maneer in the background who went down meanwhile here comes Kate Johnson leaps
02:15his way into the lead JT just watching Deacon dinner Ricky you told me this week
02:20keep an eye on Deacon Denno and I promise you I will but I promise you I'm paying
02:25attention now he looks fantastic getting a hole shot on that try you did you were
02:29we were talking me a JT after some of the rides okay Johnson getting a little
02:33crossed up in the sand section I said what about Deacon he says I'm gonna keep my
02:37eye on him he's doing a great job he came really close to winning at Houston but
02:42watch his pass yeah right now he needs to keep his eye on Kane yeah making a few
02:47mistakes getting a little excited and easy to happen good job for both these
02:52riders to stand up stay upright they're gonna be really important for these two
02:56guys to maybe maybe take a breath chill out and see they look like they're
03:01getting a little excited out there these are teenagers those two words don't even
03:10exist in their head
03:11got Wyatt Thurman closing up Lee you talked about it before this race and
03:16just what an incredible opportunity is for these youngsters coming out here in
03:21front of the lights getting that experience too on a track that they will
03:24probably face next year if they make the jump Stu and I were talking before we
03:28came on the air yeah it to use a golf analogy this would be like asking some
03:33teenagers to come out on Sunday at the Masters and say here you go tee it up in
03:38front of Scotty Scheffler and this massive crowd will be hearing your words there it
03:44kind of blows me away because talking to these young athletes here throughout the day it just
03:50doesn't seem to bother them and I feel like that's just kind of got more the case over the
03:55last couple of years here and that's just a testament to what this program does oh
04:01you rescued well that's just a testament to what this program does it gets these
04:06guys ready for everything from racing under the lights even talking to us on
04:11the broadcast and the rest of the media so I'm incredible really how far they've
04:15come in a short amount of time how about that for a move Deacon Denno takes his
04:18triumph back to the lead yeah looks like Deacon this is finding his groove
04:22starting to hit his marks right now yeah let's see if cake and I'll say regroup just
04:30buries the front end yeah and what happened right there James you know it's so easy to
04:35do that he just trusted that front and there wasn't enough hold there in that burn that
04:41dude that that excuse me that dirt is very loose just all that weight push the front down
04:4617 year old from Fort Worth Texas leads the way over Wyatt Thurman Vincent way has been quietly working
04:55his way forward there is the 27 and Landon Gordon going at it oh what a good run by Vincent
05:02way through
05:02the whoops yeah I had a little bit more momentum he was able to stay wide and those whoops you
05:07got to
05:07carry that momentum in he's seen Landon come up he's actually been making a lot of moves I believe
05:13he was fastest right on the racetrack so if he can get a couple clean laps probably has three
05:17three laps left he might be able to make a run that they know up front JT we were talking
05:23about Landon
05:24Gordon this week and some of the areas where you were looking for improvement that was the whoops and
05:30going back to what Vincent way was there that's where he kind of made up some time on Gordon he
05:36sure did
05:36it Ricky though the one thing he's had going for him though was the starts he just didn't put himself
05:41in such a good position this time but yes improvement in the whoops is one of those things he needs
05:45to
05:46check that box he still has a chance to get up front if he's got to make some moves really
05:49quickly
05:53313 left on the clock here is the 170 this is ale carminati the 16 year old from Mexico City
06:02and he runs in 14th at the moment James remember what he told us we we both asked him like
06:08hey
06:08what like what is your goal and he just I love this goal he said just want to make all
06:13the laps yeah and
06:14he's doing exactly that and we we both said that is the best thing yeah obviously you want to have
06:19the
06:19best result but the experience is where you're going to win here and just Daytona's unique challenge
06:25on his own he's doing what he said true to his word I want to go back to Deacon Dino
06:30and just point
06:31something out to you guys remember that first lap when he got passed in the whoops it's almost like
06:35he sensed that he he was jumping he needed to blitz like Kay Johnson did well ever since then he
06:42started
06:42going out wide blitzing the whoops now he's starting to build a lead so that's a really good decision on
06:49his
06:49he's going to be happy to sense where he needs to make up time yeah no I agree with you
06:54as Gordon makes
06:55that pass almost bringing all these guys up but yeah it kind of goes back to the point Will was
07:00making
07:00that these kids seem so comfortable being in this position and I think having his program is the last
07:06step to this you know they're riding with Hayden Deacon they're riding with Chase Sexton during the week
07:11so they know they have the speed now it's here being under these lights kind of calm those nerves
07:16just behind Kate Johnson on the 177 is the 99 of Kate Maneer there is Maneer he was as high
07:23as fourth on the
07:24opening lap of this race and dropped it he went all the way back to 10th and has worked his
07:29way up to six this
07:30is the first round winner of this year's SMX next he took a really hard crash in the whoops at
07:36the end of the
07:37whoops and the final session of qualifying practice I believe at Houston and uh he had to sit out a
07:45couple weeks in a
07:45and a short story is he was supposed to be the guy to make the jump from SMX next to
07:51the premier class
07:52and because he got injured they gave it to Dudney and he's made the most of it 100% that's
07:59a that's
07:59opportunistic for sure good scrap going on here between Vincent Way and Landon Gordon for top three
08:08and here comes Johnson Kate Johnson on the 177 back in the mix yeah nice recovery after going down pace
08:15is starting to slow up it's hard for these guys especially caught up in that sand section to slowing
08:19him down tighten his group up but still oh did you see that I got worried for Gordon looked like
08:25he was
08:26watch this outside right here gonna hit it it's gonna commit prop nice there he goes
08:33oh gets by Wyatt Thurman for second place and there is a long way between second and the leader
08:41Denno who has a whopping seven second advantage he just passed the flag stand with 25 seconds remaining
08:48on the time clock there on the left hand side of your screen and man it's all about maintaining that
08:54lead
08:55now will just look at Landon Gordon and thinking back on something he said to me earlier enjoy his
09:00straights Ricky and James were being able to to kind of live in the moment and make changes as far
09:06as line selection goes and he cited that Daytona specifically was important for that do you do
09:11agree with this thinking there no I completely agree and he just showed you right there got passed
09:17by his teammate right there switched that line up and as long as they stay up all these guys are
09:22going
09:22to learn a lot from this race this track again as I mentioned earlier it's difficult and I think
09:27Landon's probably a little bit faster than what he's running right here but the weight is same section
09:30and high but then why Thurman comes back oh nice block by Vincent Way right there I mean even just
09:40that
09:40pass that that whole stretch right there where Landon he knows he's faster he's able to make the pass
09:45he gets passed back that they're learning and you can only get that from racing
09:52a very nice third yeah great job by Vincent Vincent Way he had a really good run also going back
09:58to the
09:58last time they were at a Supercross race in Houston I mean he was in that podium position right to
10:05about two or
10:06three laps left to go and he crashed after the whoops but man you want to talk about an incredible
10:12right oh no what a shame for Wyatt Thurman he'd been running so well and in the top three for
10:17the
10:17majority of the race yeah I meant to Vincent Way not Landon I'm sorry but yeah tough break especially on
10:23the last lap good bomb but still a good ride yeah still a good ride and just going for a
10:29top of your
10:29screen well probably got a little bit of wheel spin there if I had to guess James dumps the front
10:35fight starts dancing around left to right I mean that's easily could happen to the best guys in
10:39the business okay the pressure is still on Vincent way because Kate Johnson is right there on that one
10:47seventy seven and that's gonna cost him I did Vincent got a little caught up here is Johnson that was
10:55a
10:55good thing multitude a couple times I thought cave might get to him but at the moment here's the man
11:02right
11:02here yeah what an incredible ride Deacon Denno from the whole shop to victory aboard his triumph that's
11:10three different winners in SMX next this year from the three races so far look at him that's an
11:20order she don't get it down bud we got plenty of engines back at the shop the 17 year old
11:27from Texas
11:29thoroughly enjoying his boat big moment under the lights here in Daytona can you imagine having
11:36that feeling as a amateur Ricky no I couldn't incredible experience and I mean you just think
11:43about this guy I mean how promising is this for this race team and a lot of the other race
11:47teams that
11:48have had riders do well in SMX next incredible this is the pathway forward remember this name Deacon Denno
11:56the winner here in Daytona
