00:00I'm so bummed. How are you?
00:02Ah, doing well, doing well. It's okay. Don't worry.
00:06You know what I've noticed just from your social media and just how you were the other night,
00:09that you seem to be really in good spirits considering.
00:13Just how have you been able to get to that point mentally?
00:15Like, I just, I respect it so much, seriously.
00:19No, thank you. That means a lot to me.
00:21It's funny, you know, I won't go on this tangent, but when I got pulled from the game,
00:24I told Jeff, actually, I had some time with Jeff on the boat, which you never get.
00:27And before 48, I actually was reading, like, Fourth Wing and, like, all these, like, you know, fictional books.
00:34And I was trying to broadcast to people that I wasn't, like, this, like, serious player.
00:37But before 50, I was reading, like, books on meditation and mindfulness and stuff like that.
00:41And after this happened, like, I took away this trope, which is, like, you always have to, like, have a
00:46half smile.
00:47Even when you're going through any sort of hardship, you have a half smile so that, like,
00:51you change the relationship with that adversity and with that moment.
00:54And that's what I've sort of tried to do through this Achilles, like, I just keep on having good things
00:58happen to me.
00:59Like, yes, this injury sucks, but I got a new job.
01:01I'm a music attorney now.
01:02My wife is pregnant.
01:03We're going to have a girl in, like, two and a half months.
01:06You know, I'm stronger than ever right now.
01:08And I didn't even get a chance to spend my money yet when I was out there on 50 and
01:12I toured this thing.
01:13So I had so much to look forward to and I have a lot to look forward to.
01:16And I think that, like, just focusing on the positive and not the negative has really kind of, like, changed
01:21my life in a lot of ways.
01:22Wow.
01:23Well, first off, congratulations on all these amazing things, especially your baby girl soon to come.
01:26That's amazing for you and your whole family.
01:29Can you just kind of detail what went down after the camera stopped rolling and after you left the island
01:34in terms of surgery you had to undergo?
01:36And how did all that go down?
01:38Yeah.
01:39So, you know, I flew back to – I only got one night at Ponderosa.
01:42I had to fly back to get home to New York as quickly as possible.
01:45So I actually had to have an escort because I couldn't walk.
01:47I got wheelchaired around everywhere.
01:48I couldn't really pick up anything.
01:50Went to the doctor the morning that I got back to Brooklyn.
01:53I got back to Brooklyn, like, I think, like, 1, 2 in the morning.
01:55I had to wake up at 7, 8 to go to the doctor.
01:57They confirmed there was a full tear.
01:59I got surgery about four days later.
02:02From there, I mean, it's a very long, arduous process.
02:04It takes 8 to 12 months to recover.
02:06I'm about 8 months in.
02:08I'm running now, but I'm not quite for sprinting and jumping.
02:12Couldn't walk for two months.
02:13Then you're walking in a boot.
02:15With crutches.
02:16And then, like, it takes some time to get the two shoes.
02:17But step by step, you know, and I'm kind of, like, getting close to that, like, finish line with recovery.
02:23What was your wife and just everyone's reaction when this went down and you came home?
02:28Yeah, you know, when I left for 48, it was not that hard.
02:33We were super excited, you know.
02:35And then coming back and knowing what it's like to be away and just being married, going away for 50
02:41was really hard.
02:42It was really hard for not our relationship, but just, like, it just stuck to be away from her.
02:47And so, it was terrible.
02:49My wife had to wait on me night and day when I got back with the Achilles, so I'm not
02:53undermining the injury.
02:54But I think, like, in a lot of ways, like, I think we were grateful to just have that kind
02:58of time with one another back.
03:00I mean, obviously, she would have loved for me to go far in the game and play.
03:03But, like, any time that we get together is, you know, great.
03:07So, it was fine.
03:09It was fine.
03:10It seems like you had so much fun being out there for the few days that you were.
03:13And you said that in your own words, right?
03:15Like, when you were leaving, you were like, you didn't think you would love this and love the people you
03:17were with.
03:18What was it about this cast and this experience, specifically that Pink Tribe, because, by the way, that's, like, my
03:23favorite tribe.
03:23I feel like it's such a great mix of personalities.
03:25What was it about that that made you feel so joyous being with them?
03:30It's exactly what you said.
03:31Not only is it a mix of personalities, but I think probably across the spectrum, just, like, in terms of,
03:36like, where you played and, like, how you played with, like, the Colby's versus the me, the Rizzo's versus, like,
03:42the Stephanie.
03:42Like, you know, the dynamic between, like, Q and Aubrey.
03:46Like, it was just a very diverse tribe in all respects.
03:50And, like, that's what I like about Survivor.
03:52And I think, like, I'm built for that.
03:54Like, I'm built to, like, be a bridge and mix with all different types of people because that's sort of
03:59how my life has played out.
04:00And so to experience that in real time and also, like, experience a little bit of success in the game
04:06at the same time was so much fun.
04:09I felt like I was, like, just authentically getting to be myself and being accepted for that.
04:13And, like, you don't get that in a lot of spaces all the time.
04:16You have to put on a mask in a lot of different areas, whether it's your job, you know, work,
04:20Survivor.
04:20And I felt like I was getting to be myself but also play Survivor at the same time, which was
04:25just incredible.
04:26Were the dynamics that we saw on the show accurate in terms of you, Genevieve, Steph, Colby, and then Q
04:32being the majority?
04:33Like, or was there more going on than what we saw?
04:37I would say it was accurate, but also there was more going on.
04:39So that five actually turned into a six, right?
04:42Because Rizzo slowly started to integrate, Colby liked them, Genevieve liked them, I liked them, everybody liked them.
04:47So we had sort of a six there.
04:50Genevieve and I were always at the middle.
04:52We had a foursome with Stephanie and Colby.
04:54And then we also had a little bit of a foursome with Q and Rizzo as well.
04:58So we kind of had this new era versus old era thing.
05:01And Genevieve and I eventually, I think, were trying to figure out which direction are we going to go in.
05:04So regardless, Angelina and Aubrey were kind of on the bottom, but I really connected with Angelina as well.
05:10And I like Aubrey, but we just didn't take the next step strategically.
05:13But until Angelina essentially said that I was her number one, and then Angelina, Aubrey, and myself formed a little
05:19bit of a three.
05:20But I told Genevieve about that.
05:22You should assume that everything that I was doing, Genevieve knew about because I wanted to be transparent and she
05:28was helping me manage those narratives.
05:29But I felt as if we were in a good place in the tribe.
05:32So what I was really trying to set up was if there's a tribe swap or if I get to
05:36the merge, I need to be good with everybody, not just for boats, but so that positivity around me can
05:41permeate.
05:42So Angelina could tell Mike White and Christian, Aubrey can talk to the people she's played with, et cetera.
05:46Like I was trying to think ahead, not get too ahead of myself, but like building up personal connections and
05:51alliances that it would take me far in the game.
05:53Damn, you were running that freaking tribe, it sounds like.
05:57Yeah, you know.
05:58It hurts my heart a little more, not going to lie.
06:00Not that it probably doesn't hurt your heart even more so, but that feels like a bummer because you were
06:04set up so well.
06:06Ah, it's okay.
06:07And like you never know.
06:07Like here's the thing.
06:08I was playing hard.
06:09Yeah.
06:10But all it takes is one sentence for me to mess up, for Genevieve, Riggle, whoever.
06:14And then all of a sudden the game can collapse.
06:16So it was well, but who knows how it plays out.
06:19So if you guys went to that first tribal, Angelina or Aubrey, realistically, it's the first one knocked out probably.
06:25I would say I was trading towards Aubrey, but I know that like I think Hugh wanted Angelina because he
06:32was scared of the threesome.
06:33But I would say with Christian and Mike, but I would say most likely Aubrey was my target and most
06:38likely one of those two.
06:40Anyone out there that you were bummed you weren't on the same starting tribe with?
06:43I mean, I imagine you knew Joe and Camilla and you were all going to be separated, but anyone else
06:47you were hoping to start with?
06:49Tip.
06:51Tiffany, I think like, you know, she's another person that I kind of identified like Genevieve who just like I
06:56really enjoy her personality and I think we could play well together because she's very well-rounded, easy to talk
07:01to, very charming.
07:03Then also Christian Hubecki, somebody I wanted to play with.
07:06And then Ozzy.
07:07I just think that Ozzy and I would get along just like talking about life.
07:10Like he's very free-spirited, open-minded sort of person.
07:13And so I think it would have been cool to sit with him.
07:15And I would love to play with Sarie if she wanted to play with me.
07:18Because she has a lot of options, that's for sure.
07:20Yeah.
07:20She would have liked to play with you.
07:21I feel like you would have been up.
07:22Although I don't know how she feels about the winners.
07:24She might not have.
07:26Speaking of winners, did you guys know that Savannah won from Rizzo?
07:29And if so, how did you feel about that?
07:32Yeah, Rizzo told us, we kind of had like a clear the air moment, just like Savannah had.
07:37You know, you sit down and talk about the season because people wanted to hear about my season too because
07:39it was so fresh.
07:41Rizzo told us that Savannah had won.
07:43I had assumed that because Savannah wasn't on our tribe.
07:47Me and Dee was on our own tribe and Savannah wasn't with her, et cetera.
07:49And so I was like, okay, it seems like a win.
07:51He didn't tell us anything about their relationship.
07:53Rizzo was also truthful about going out on fire.
07:56But truthfully, at the beginning of the game, I really wanted to target the 49ers.
07:59That changed Rizzo, very much integrated, good player for sure.
08:04But I knew that Savannah had won because of that.
08:08But he didn't give us too, too much color, just enough to make us sort of go away.
08:12Okay.
08:12And another thing about your injury, and I meant to ask this, but, you know, I imagine a whole factor
08:16of that when you got home was that you had to essentially keep that a secret, right?
08:20I mean, just spoilers.
08:22And so what was that experience like on top of just getting injured, just the fact that you couldn't really
08:27put that out there?
08:28Did you have to hide?
08:30That was probably the least favorite part of the injury, to be completely honest with you.
08:34Like, because I had to come back, everybody else was still there filming.
08:39So, one, I don't get the experience at Ponderosa.
08:41I'm not getting information as people are coming home or getting voted out.
08:44So, like, I'm kind of siloed.
08:46And, two, like, yeah, you're right.
08:48Like, I couldn't get caught with this thing.
08:50So, like, I really didn't go out too much.
08:51A doctor did recognize me on my way to surgery.
08:53So, like, I was like, oh, crap.
08:55But I really just kind of stayed at home and just sort of sat it out, which was fun at
08:59some points.
08:59But, like, it's also just not being able to talk to your friends about it.
09:03Like, you know, people, my friends are like, yo, where are you at?
09:06Also, like, when we pulled up, I mean, I was in a boot for three months.
09:09They were like, why are you in a boot?
09:10And I'm like, I'm basketball.
09:12I'm bad at basketball.
09:13They're like, what the hell is going on?
09:14You know?
09:15So.
09:16Yeah.
09:16Yeah.
09:17Any winners that you wish were out there?
09:19Because I think some people were surprised that it was only two.
09:21And then, obviously, we found out Savannah won making it three.
09:23But who else would you have liked to see out there, previous winners?
09:26Yeah.
09:27This is a poll, but Earl Cole.
09:29Earl is phenomenal.
09:30It's definitely time Earl hasn't been back.
09:32I think that they reached out to him from what I heard.
09:34But we got to get Earl back on Survivor.
09:36Yeah.
09:37We need Earl back.
09:38I just love, like, how Earl, like, carries himself.
09:41And just, like, he's such a level-headed, like, problem-solving kind of guy.
09:44Like, that's who I, like, aspire to sort of be.
09:46Like, that cool, calm, and collected.
09:50And, you know, even though she was on Winners at War, I would have loved to see, like, Kim play
09:53again.
09:54She's one of my favorite winners.
09:55I think she's the best all-time winner.
09:57Great.
09:57Winning season, like, you know.
09:59And so I would love to see her, because she had such a target on her back on Winners at
10:02War.
10:03And were you and Dee looking to link up out there?
10:07Oh, I would have played with Dee for sure.
10:09I love Dee.
10:11I bumped into Dee, like, once or twice in real life.
10:13Like, nothing, like, substantial.
10:15I bumped into her, and I really love her personality.
10:18She's very charming, easy to talk to.
10:20And, like, I mean, I think we would work great together.
10:23I don't know why anybody would let that happen.
10:25So it would have to be, like, a Camilla sort of situation.
10:27But, yeah.
10:28I mean, if I got a chance to link with Dee, I would love to.
10:31Yeah.
10:31And then just my last question.
10:32Speaking of Camilla, were you kind of questioned a lot about, like, are you still tight with them?
10:37Like, did you have to field a lot of questions about Camilla and Joe on your tribe when you were
10:41there?
10:42In that same Rizzo conversation, Savannah conversation, we talked about my season.
10:47I said, listen, like, you know, I'm not going to lie.
10:49I think lying about that is worse.
10:51Like, it's clear that, like, me and Camilla would still be friends.
10:55So I was like, listen, Camilla's my friend.
10:56But that said, she doesn't owe me anything.
10:58I don't know how she wants to play this game.
10:59If you remember my season, she hated the way that the strategy played out.
11:02I kind of was like, okay, I'll ride this thing.
11:04And so I want her to be able to play her own game.
11:06And then I would also insert Joe because Joe was a very close ally of mine, right?
11:10I brought him to the end.
11:11And so I had to also be like, you know, but I don't know how Joe feels about me.
11:15And I thought maybe inserting Joe into the conversation could sometimes detract from the Camilla aspect of the conversation.
11:21But all in all, I mean, I just I don't know how it would have happened if we got to
11:25the merge together.
11:26I'm sure it would have been a problem for one of our games.
11:29I think I would have had to work with her to get far.
11:31But I don't know if she would have needed to work with me, to be honest with you.
11:35Yeah.
11:35All right.
11:36Well, Kyle, again, I'll reiterate to say I really respect just your attitude and appreciation for all.
11:40You know, your whole experience, regardless of how it ended.
11:43And we got to get Kyle 3.0 at some point.
11:46Maybe one day.
