14:39as detectives return from notifying greg's family
14:44this appears to be the same tahoe from the original rent camera
14:49patrol officers spot an suv matching one of the suspect vehicles
14:53just blocks from the crime scene
14:59right now
14:59driver turn off that car
15:02driver step out nothing in your hands
15:08walk straight back to that side of my car
15:12walk to me
15:14what the is going on
15:19passenger your turn
15:21step out of the car with nothing in your hands right now
15:37That's Marshall, I need a 40-year-old.
15:40Clear.
15:45Officers, search the town.
15:48There's two to three casings.
16:02I think our pink shirt's going to be the Equinox driver.
16:1320-year-old Christopher Leiter and his 21-year-old brother, James Leiter, are from Oklahoma City.
16:21Yo, bro, this is not legal.
16:24This is legal. Stop talking.
16:27Right now, we're investigating a crime that occurred just down the street.
16:31Right now, you're being detained.
16:33There's some people that want to talk to you, so they're going to try to support you down to the
16:36detention division.
16:37Should we talk with my brother at the same time?
16:39No.
16:48Four hours since Greg was killed.
16:52Both of these guys were from the Oklahoma City area, so I called Oklahoma City PD and got a little
16:57bit of information on them.
16:59Chris Leiter.
17:00Christopher Leiter owns a mobile detailing and pressure washing business.
17:04He has no prior convictions.
17:07His brother, James Leiter.
17:10James Leiter has prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute and knowingly receiving stolen
17:17property.
17:19I'm going to go try to interview those guys and see what we can learn.
17:27I'm Detective Warren.
17:29It's Detective Lansdowne.
17:31Warren and Detective Lacey Lansdowne start with James.
17:36Give us a rundown on what happened this afternoon.
17:41I came down here to sell him an iPhone 15 for $1,200 unlocked.
17:46I brought my brother with me because, like, I felt uneasy dealing with Noah.
17:50You know what I mean?
17:51I know he likes guns.
17:54So I had my brother follow me in another car with a gun just to be safe, you know.
18:00Tahoe, I was driving.
18:02The 2019 Chevy Equinox.
18:04He was driving.
18:06I came down here.
18:07I gave him the iPhone.
18:09Noah handed me the money, and I noticed it was fake $100 bills on top.
18:14Trying to make it look like a large sum of money, you know?
18:17Just pass it off quickly.
18:19My brother's behind me in a black car outside of the house.
18:22So he gave me the fake money.
18:24I hauled at my brother through the passenger window of the Tahoe.
18:27Like, bro, let's get him.
18:30Casper started shooting at us.
18:44I was in the Tahoe, you know, like, dug down.
18:54My brother ducked back behind his car to make sure he didn't get shot.
18:58Noah was trying to, like, run inside.
19:01He shot the radiator.
19:02He says one of Noah's bullets struck the radiator of the Equinox.
19:07It leaked fluid out there.
19:10My brother grabbed the firearm.
19:13He said he had to put the clip in there, cocked it back, and load it.
19:15And then he said he started firing back.
19:17No.
19:19You did not shoot?
19:20No.
19:21No, I was in a totally different car.
19:24Let me ask you this.
19:25How many times do you think your brother shot?
19:27Ten times.
19:29Where's this car right now?
19:32My brother's car is messed up.
19:33The car wasn't going nowhere, so I left it at the AutoZone.
19:38My brother had got into my SUV.
19:40He had grabbed a duffel bag.
19:42I think it had a gun in there.
19:44And threw it in my car.
19:47I actually called Noah.
19:49Mm-hmm.
19:49And I said, bro, what the f***?
19:51You know what I mean?
19:52And then he said that his homie was shot.
19:55And I thought he was lying.
19:56I went back towards that area to clarify.
20:01That's why I was right back there in the neighborhood again.
20:04So you came back and you saw all the police cars and all the stuff like that?
20:08Yeah, I saw the police cars, and my heart sank.
20:12Well, here's where it gets real sick.
20:15Somebody did get shot, and that person did not survive.
20:19He's dead.
20:21All over a cell phone.
20:25I know, like, uh, like, man, I didn't do nothing wrong.
20:30Like, although I'm not a killer, you know what I mean?
20:37Thank you for being honest with us.
20:39Now, I'm trying to tell you guys as much as possible, man.
20:42I appreciate it.
20:43I'm going to shake your hand.
20:43Because I appreciate you telling us and planning to clear some stuff out.
20:47I'm going to go to prison for the rest of my life over an iPhone that went wrong.
20:54We got to talk.
20:55Yeah, we got to do some talking, okay?
20:57Sit tight, buddy, okay?
21:06I think he's being truthful.
21:08I think Casper probably did shoot first, because my guy says, here's three shots.
21:12At that point, Casper comes in the house and has a gun.
21:16But the shooting has stopped, and the threat is over.
21:20Your boy then went to the back of their car, got a rifle, shot into a house that's occupied by
21:25lots of people, and kills Greg.
21:29The shots have stopped, and now you're loading up to retaliate.
21:32Exactly.
21:33So if there was a lag, then the self-defense stuff goes out of the window.
21:38And both Chris Leiter and Noah Christman will be arrested for a felony murder.
21:45But James said Casper tried to rip him off over an iPhone.
21:49My thing is, if James is there to only sell an iPhone, and then his brother was the only one
21:53to fight into the house, then James wouldn't be charged.
21:55He'd just be considered a witness.
21:57But he needs to do the timeline.
22:00I'll get that clarified.
22:01Every second counts in this case.
22:12I need to clarify a couple of things.
22:15After Casper stopped shooting, you guys were ducking down.
22:18Obviously, you were ducking down.
22:20Your brother was probably ducking down.
22:21And then he, like, he clicked in his head to go grab the gun.
22:25Okay.
22:26It took him a couple seconds to get the mag in there.
22:29Mm-hmm.
22:30And, like, as he's, like, getting it, I was like, bro, come on, come on, come on.
22:34Like, hollering out of my door.
22:35He's been shot at.
22:37But, like, he actually loaded the gun and started shooting back at Casper.
22:42So, here's the thing.
22:45There's witnesses that saw what happened.
22:50Casper had already made it into the house.
22:53Oh, he did?
22:54Yes.
22:55Before you guys started shooting.
22:57So, I took him, I took my brother a couple seconds.
22:59Right.
23:00So, that would make sense.
23:01Casper was into the house, took your brother a couple seconds to get out to load the gun.
23:05So, he wasn't, he wasn't putting the gun together as you were taking fire.
23:10No.
23:12They weren't firing bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, like at each other.
23:16It wasn't like a gun battle, like, like, like the Wild West.
23:21It was a lag in between, am I correct?
23:22It was, it was a lag.
23:24Yes.
23:36Once Casper stopped, your brother put the gun together and returned fire.
23:40Yes.
23:42Okay.
23:49If you can talk to my brother, he'll tell you a lot more, too.
23:54I'll talk to him in just a second, okay?
24:01Warren and Ryden turned to James' brother, Christopher.
24:07Hey, Chris, how you doing, man?
24:09I've had better days.
24:10I understand that.
24:13So, I got a question, like, is there a chance of me going home tonight?
24:17Well, here's the thing.
24:18We can't make any decisions until we put all this stuff together.
24:22Tell us what happened today.
24:24I followed my brother out here just to make sure everything goes well.
24:27He doesn't want to get killed and then nobody be there to see it.
24:32I keep my gun in the trunk, the clip in front of it, and the gun over here.
24:38What kind of weapon did you have?
24:39It's an AR pistol.
24:41It looks like an American flag.
24:43And is it loaded or is it unloaded?
24:45It's unloaded completely, and then you got a mag next to the case.
24:50Was the magazine loaded?
24:51Magazine is loaded, yeah.
24:52Okay.
24:53You usually want to keep your mag loaded.
24:55Yeah, why have a magazine if it's not loaded, right?
24:58Okay.
24:59I travel legally.
25:01I just wanted you to know how to keep my gun.
25:04Pulling up there, I thought that was Noah's house.
25:06Okay, does he have a nickname or anything that he goes by?
25:09Casper.
25:10He comes out.
25:11He gives my brother fake money for the iPhone.
25:14My brother jumps out of the car and says, get him, get him.
25:16I thought he meant tackle.
25:18Where was Casper at?
25:20He was by his fence, and then as soon as he seen me get out of my car, gunshots were
25:24blown.
25:25You know, your car got hit?
25:27Yeah, my car got hit.
25:29I was shooting water out.
25:30It's leaking.
25:32Something clicked to me.
25:33I run to my back to the truck, and then he was shooting at me, so I shot back.
25:40Obviously, I think it took you to exit car, go to the truck.
25:44Probably one minute.
25:47It took you about a minute to get your gun?
25:49Yeah, it took a while.
25:51Okay, okay.
25:53I don't want to kill nobody at all.
25:54I didn't even want to hurt nobody.
25:57I was just trying to hit the house, because at the point that you shot my $30,000 car, I'm
26:01not trying to hit you.
26:01I just want, I want your house to be okay.
26:04Okay, that's, that's real interesting.
26:07Once those shots stopped, you felt you were able to go get your gun and, and return fire, hitting an
26:14individual in the house.
26:18Let me ask this.
26:20I'm smart.
26:21Those are like real bricks, and the bullets can just go through.
26:26What else do houses have?
26:28Is that a brick?
26:29No, no.
26:30What do you look out of a house?
26:32Windows.
26:33Yeah, you didn't window.
26:35I'm not saying with you the brick.
26:36I know I went through a window.
26:38There's a dead guy.
26:41So far, what's it looking like?
26:43Because honestly, like, I thought I was got shot.
26:45I started checking my body.
26:47Honestly, like, I was looking around.
26:49I was making sure that I wasn't hit.
26:51You shot at you guys.
26:53However, you had to physically think, let me get my gun, get out, open the trunk.
26:59Open the case where your gun is in, load it, make it ready, and then fire back.
27:08So here's the thing.
27:09You weren't getting out of your car to get that gun while you were taking fire.
27:14You were ducking.
27:16No, I was.
27:16I was on my way to the back.
27:19Honestly, it probably happened faster, man.
27:21I'm going to say 45 seconds.
27:24Well, Chris, sit tight for just a second, okay?
27:26I'm going to talk to my partner.
27:34Your boy is going to jail, Reggie.
27:36Yeah, I know it.
27:38The immediate threat was over.
27:41Casper had already taken off running, and Chris admitted that he was a shooter.
27:47Multiple rounds went through the house.
27:50One, sadly enough, struck the victim in the head.
27:54Lacey, get the all-waver and stuff signed.
27:58DNA waiver, Casper, and stuff.
28:01Yeah.
28:11There's a couple things we need to get from you.
28:14We need to process these cars, so we'll need to get a search waiver for those.
28:18We do need to look in the phone, because that's how you're communicating with Casper.
28:21We need to search waiver for that.
28:23It'll speed things up a lot quicker.
28:27I'm going to be honest with you, man.
28:29I'm worried about my cell phone, you know what I mean?
28:32Why?
28:35So, let's say, like, I wasn't completely, like, given, like, an iPhone, you know what I mean?
28:40Let's wonder if it was something else.
28:42I would appreciate you being honest with me.
28:44That's about it.
29:03I don't know why you're concerned about your phone.
29:15It's in the messages, you know what I mean?
29:16You're going to see it.
29:19I lied about the iPhone.
29:21So what?
29:23So, what if it was drugs?
29:27Okay.
29:28I just don't want to go to jail.
29:31What kind of drugs?
29:33Molly.
29:35How much weight talking with this Molly?
29:38It was Molly and a couple other things.
29:40Okay, so Molly and what else?
29:45You're doing good.
29:46You're going to come clean.
29:48This is going to put me in jail for distribution, though, yet?
29:51I don't know.
29:54We're worried about somebody being dead.
29:57So, just come clean about what all you were selling.
30:02I bought some acid, some Molly.
30:05Molly, what else?
30:07Adderall.
30:08Adderall, okay.
30:10It was $4,000 worth of stuff.
30:13Did you give him these drugs?
30:15Or is it still in your car?
30:18Yes, it's done.
30:19So he has them then.
30:22Okay.
30:24Forbation.
30:26Huh.
30:28Yeah, man, that's not good.
30:30How many, like, years is that?
30:33For drugs?
30:34I don't know.
30:35It could be anywhere from five to life.
30:39Did this just f*** me?
30:41No, it didn't.
30:42Oh, my God.
30:46Will you ask if I could just get my brother off?
30:49Of course I will.
30:50This is, I don't know if I'm ever going to see him again.
30:52He's 20, and I'm probably going, you know?
30:56Yeah, I'll be right back.
31:04I'm trying to get some search waivers, and he spilled the beans.
31:09If you're selling an aggravated trafficking amount of drugs and a murder happens...
31:13Of an innocent person.
31:15...that is called a felony murder, and everybody's going.
31:17I mean, he was fine when it was an iPhone, and now he's not.
31:22He is now a felony murder suspect.
31:26They're both going to jail.
31:30Since he told the truth, he did ask if he could hug his brother.
31:35Okay.
31:36But if they want to hug him, they can hug him, and they'll probably say some more stupid stuff on
31:39tape.
31:40Perfect.
31:48James, here, I'm going to have you sit down.
31:53So, here's the deal.
31:54You both are going to jail today.
31:57What are the charges we're going to jail for tonight?
32:00It's called felony murder.
32:02Both of us?
32:03Both.
32:04You're in trouble because you're part of it.
32:06You set up a drug deal.
32:06Your brother backed you and had a gun.
32:08And then during that drug deal, an innocent person got killed.
32:12I admit, you guys did get shot at.
32:14But Noah's going to get charged with murder just like you and your brother.
32:18So, rarely would I do this, but you guys seem like brothers that aren't going to cause a problem.
32:22So, I'll let you guys sit in the same room.
32:25Okay.
32:26Okay.
32:37I'm sorry.
32:39I ruined both of us, bro.
32:41No, you didn't, bro.
32:42Don't do that.
32:43No, it didn't.
32:44And we're getting out of this, bro.
32:50Listen, it'll be probably the last time we'll be f***ing chilling together for a long time, bro.
32:56I can't look so bad.
32:58I'm doing a drug deal.
32:59You killed innocent person.
33:01For beating us, bro.
33:03For beating us.
33:04I expected it to probably fight like that.
33:07I f***ing hate guns, bro.
33:10I love them still.
33:11I mean, I'm not against them.
33:12I'm just saying that in general, it's a very good case.
33:19I think I have a really good chance of beating us.
33:22I think they're hammerers.
33:23Both of us.
33:31Scream, I didn't think that was the time.
33:35Why did God be this to us?
33:39I miss you.
33:40I f***ing love you, bro.
33:43It seems like Chris and James have no remorse for what they did.
33:47They just want to beat the case.
33:49They really seem likable when you're talking to them, so it's a little disappointing that they understand what they did
33:53was really bad, and it led to someone being killed.
33:57They'll figure it out eventually.
34:03Okay.
34:05Chris Leiter and James Leiter, they ultimately told the truth.
34:09Okay.
34:10We've come a long way.
34:11I got Chris and James Leiter in custody, but there's still a lot more at stake because Chrisman or Casper
34:18is armed with a 9mm, and if he can shoot at them, he can shoot at anybody else, so we've
34:24got to get him off the streets.
34:26He was the one that shot first, and if Noah hadn't fired first, none of this would have happened.
34:32Greg would still be alive.
34:35I am actually typing a warrant for his arrest now, so I'll turn our fugitive warrants unit on to this.
34:43Hopefully we'll have him into custody tomorrow.
34:45It's a very, very important part of this investigation.
34:58The next day, the team scours the city for Noah Chrisman.
35:05But as the first 48 winds down, he's nowhere to be found.
35:22Two weeks after Greg was killed.
35:25What's the address?
35:27Fugitive warrants has a lead on Noah Chrisman.
35:35Noah Chrisman, a.k.a. Casper, left town and was in Perry, Oklahoma, with his girlfriend.
35:40They got a tip that Noah is hiding out at his girlfriend's relative's house.
35:45The fugitive warrants unit contacted the Western District of Oklahoma U.S. Marshal Service, and those deputies are going to
35:52go try to hit the house where they are now and try to get them in custody.
35:58Eighty miles west of Tulsa.
36:03General, stop out now.
36:05Have the war for your arrest.
36:08U.S. Marshals and officers from Perry, P.D. surround the house.
36:13Have the house around in.
36:15You're not going in here.
36:17Maricaded in the back room with nine military.
36:21More action in the house.
36:23Come on down.
36:25Come on down.
36:27Hold up.
36:40There you go.
36:42All down slowly.
36:47Lay down on his dummy.
36:53All the way on the lane.
36:54All the way on the lane.
36:57Is there anybody else in the house?
36:58No, no, sir.
37:00I'm running out, man.
37:01I'm sorry.
37:04Come on.
37:04Come on.
37:05Right here.
37:08Have a seat.
37:12Thank you, sir.
37:19They said that line met a meter semi-automatic gun was in the house.
37:23We don't know if it's the gun that was used in this shooting, so I'll have to wait on our
37:28ballistics to come back to do a match on that, but they're going to be booking him into the
37:32Noble County Jail.
37:33Noah Chrisman will be extradited back to Tulsa.
37:37So, today's a good day for this case.
37:49Three days later.
37:52Noah, I've introduced myself and my partner.
37:56Warren and Ryden talk to Noah Chrisman at the Tulsa County Jail.
38:02Tell me what happened, man.
38:04All right.
38:05They pull up, and I go out there.
38:08I'm talking to James Leiter, and boom, he's showing me all when I'm getting stuff.
38:14And I hand him this red pouch.
38:17Noah says he gave James Leiter $4,000 in exchange for an envelope full of drugs.
38:23I'm not no cap.
38:25I did give James Leiter some profit money.
38:29But admits that nearly half of the money he gave James was fake.
38:34And as soon as I get into the fence, James Leiter says, hey, hold on.
38:40And then, get him, bro.
38:42Get him.
38:45And so I shot him.
38:48I wasn't even pointing at the front of his car.
38:52I was just trying to get them to pull off.
38:56And I ran into the house, and I got my girl, and she's five months pregnant.
39:02I told everybody, I said, get to the back now.
39:06Nobody wanted to listen.
39:08Everybody wanted to be like, hey, what the hell's going on?
39:10Why is someone shooting outside?
39:12And I see Gray trying to look out the door.
39:17And that first or second round, he hit him right in his face.
39:22And they killed him.
39:27And it probably took them about 30 seconds before they fired into the house.
39:34There was no reason they shouldn't have started firing into a dwelling of the residence.
39:39I was not a threat to them at all after that point.
39:42I agree with that.
39:46I still don't be charged first-degree murder in this?
39:50Yeah.
39:51You guys have done a felony murder.
39:54You did not kill anybody, but you were participating in a conviction of a felony.
39:58And somebody lost their life.
40:00You said to the DA, figure out what's the justice sentence.
40:04Yeah, and hey, I'm completely okay with it.
40:06I'm just like, I'll just want to be able to see my kids.
40:11You still got a chance for life.
40:13All right.
40:15Okay, thank you for being honest.
40:17Appreciate that one.
40:20All right.
40:21All right.
40:28He confirmed everything that the two brothers, Chris and James Leiter, told me.
40:32What was important is that he confirmed that that media threat was over with.
40:36And they've recklessly found his own occupied dwelling.
40:39He was honest about what he'd done.
40:41And he was sorry about what he'd done.
40:43Because his friend, Greg Dumas, lost his life in the process.
40:47But he's about to pay for it.
40:49It was a senseless death.
40:52Greg wasn't doing anything.
40:54He didn't deserve to go out like that.
41:28He didn't deserve to go out like that.
41:30Five months after Greg was killed.
41:33We're here to celebrate his birthday.
41:36Happy birthday to you!
41:40Even though he's not here with us today, we still want to keep his memory alive.
41:45He lived a very productive life.
41:48He did a lot of positive things.
41:51And to be honest with you, even right now, it still ain't quite settled in that the fact
41:56that he's gone.
41:59He's about one of the best oldest brothers I've ever had.
42:02I miss him.
42:03And I'm still going through it to try to figure out why this had to happen.
42:37He was a great brother.
42:37He's like, holy, you know, I've never had to be.
42:39I mean, I was...
42:42I mean, I mean...
42:42I mean, I'm still going through the last...
