00:09villages and beaches of Papos. I'm Craig Rowe and over the last 20 years I've bought designed
00:16and renovated numerous properties. Today I'll be using all my skills to try and change the
00:21lives of Karen and David and I start... It's amazing isn't it? Great space. The sea view,
00:28the mountain view, what we asked for. Yeah. Yeah I'm loving it. As I mean to go on. The view

00:34for. Yeah. The pool is lovely. House is lovely. You've given us a real dilemma now. Yeah. You pulled
00:41another one out of the bag, Craig. Meanwhile it's my turn to be impressed at this multi-million pound
00:47villa. Look at this. I know. A true definition of an infinity pool seamlessly extends out into the sea.
00:54It's just so relaxing out here. But at the end of the day, do I find Karen and David their
00:59new
01:00forever home in Cyprus? I think it'd be hard pushed to beat this. Take my money off suddenly.
01:07Wow. Since meeting five years ago, Karen and David have shared the dream of swapping their busy work
01:19lives in the UK for a more relaxed lifestyle in the sun. And after a recent trip, they've set their
01:25hearts on Western Cyprus. Now with their UK home recently sold, the pressure is on to find their
01:32perfect new forever home where they, along with their beloved dog Flint, can start the next chapter
01:37of their lives. Karen and David live in Mickleton in the Cotswolds. Karen's currently a watch manager
01:44in the fire and rescue service. And David's a company director of a jewellery business, a job he plans
01:50to continue in Cyprus. They first met online and have now been married for two years.
01:56We just seem to have the same personality. We just bounce off each other and we laugh all the time.
02:02We find the same things funny. We do, yeah. We find the same thing appropriate.
02:06We've never had a row in the five years that we've been together. We just seem to agree on everything,
02:11don't we? Yeah. Be honest. Yeah.
02:14Yes. Don't take each other around us.
02:16And I do have parties to my friends when I can review.
02:20Along with their beloved Cocker Spaniel Flint, they're planning an active life in Cyprus with real
02:25regular visits from David's son and Karen's daughter, who are looking forward to outdoorsy breaks in the sun.
02:31With their applications for permanent visas underway, they have a budget of £320,000 to find their perfect new home.
02:42Halfos is both a city and one of the six regions of Cyprus.
02:46Flights into its airport take under five hours from the UK.
02:50It's on the western side of the island, which is seen as the quieter and more family-friendly side.
02:56There are pretty marinas here, dotted with traditional fishing boats and peaceful sandy bays and coves.
03:02Seeing as the whole region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's no surprise that it's positively bursting with history.
03:09As well as countless churches, there are several world-renowned temples and archaeological ruins to explore.
03:16With rolling countryside just a few miles inland from the coast, I think it could be a place perfectly suited
03:22to Karen, David and their dog Flint to set up home.
03:26Halfos is one of the most popular areas in western Cyprus, with property prices typically 20% higher than the
03:33east coast.
03:34This area attracts buyers with deep pockets. Three-bedroom villas with private pools can sell for up to £3 million.
03:42But thankfully, there are more affordable options, starting at £240,000, but these can often sell within a month.
03:49So if Karen and David find a property they love, they had better act fast.
03:55So I'm wasting no time in meeting up with them on Toxiaftra Beach, a quiet stretch of coast about a
04:0130-minute drive north of Puffos.

04:09What is it about the island which has sort of made you fall in love?
04:13It's the weather, the people.
04:15What sort of hobbies and what sort of interests do you have?
04:17I'm looking forward to swimming in the sea every day.
04:20I really got into paddle boarding during lockdown for a couple of years.
04:24Oh, did you?
04:25Yeah, and it's something I want to get back into.
04:27I believe what we're looking for is a permanent relocation home, isn't it?

04:33Give me some of what you'd like to have in this property.
04:36We'd like three bedrooms, but we'd also like, if it's a fourth bedroom or an outside annex.
04:44A bit of space that I can actually work out of.

05:38Where are you in terms of sort of proximity to the beach, to amenities?
05:42I assume you're going to have a car when you're out here.
05:44Yeah, we'll have to buy a car.
05:45That's about 20 minutes away.

05:48If there's a local taverna in the village we can walk to on a night for something to eat
05:51and a drink.

06:18The first property I've selected is in the lovely neighbourhood of St George, about a
06:23three-minute drive from the coast.
06:25There's a really pretty harbour here, with small fishing boats and tavernas selling local
06:30Cypriot specialities.
06:32It's known for its laid-back atmosphere, so I thought we'd swing by its main square en route.
06:38So, Karen and David, I've brought you to the area of St George, which gets its name
06:43from the 13th century church that you can see here.
06:46Did you come to this previously?
06:47Yes, we did, but there was a Cypriot wedding going on here.
06:51Sat on the bench, looked at the beautiful harbour on the other side and really enjoyed
06:55it.
06:55And decided that this is the lifestyle for us.
06:58And it's a busy little area, lots of visitors, lots of tourists.
07:01They're even building a new restaurant on the other side of the church that's going to
07:05have the most amazing views.
07:06I'm sure we'll try that.
07:08That'll be a hot spot.
07:09The good news is the first property is only a three-minute drive or under a half-an-hour
07:13walk.

07:23Prices in St George have risen by a whopping 30% in just the last two years.
07:28But agents are seeing a plateau recently, which is good news for Karen and David.
07:32I found a fab three-bed bungalow, which has been on the market for just four weeks.
07:38There's a high proportion of owners from overseas here, so I think it could be a great spot for
07:43my couple to feel at home.
07:45So here we are at the first property.

07:50So you're looking here at a three-bedroom, two-bathroom villa that has its own pool.

07:58There's a really nice little roof terrace up there as well, but you've also got a nice

11:55so has some stunning views.
11:57There are some lovely places to eat
11:59and as Kathikas forms part of the Paphos wine route,
12:02some delicious vino to enjoy too.
12:05On the way, we're meeting someone who's already made the move
12:08over here eight years ago
12:09and is a bit of an aficionado on local walks
12:12so could be a great person for Karen, David and their dog Flint

12:31Well, the Happy Wanderers formed in 1995.
12:35Since then, we've got more members
12:38and we now offer three walks on a Wednesday.
12:41About six miles, about eight miles and about ten miles.

13:37Today I'm house hunting in Paphos in Western Cypress,

13:52So that's what I'll give them at my next property.
13:56This active couple have been together for five years,
13:59and after recently falling in love with Cypress,
14:02can't wait to move here using their ideal budget of £320,000.
14:07Now so far they loved the condition and swimming pool of my first option,
14:10but David in particular was hankering after more outside space.
14:14So to deliver on that, we've come to Katikas,
14:18a charming village nestled in the mountains.
14:21Now prices are lower here as we're now a 15-minute drive inland,
14:25and there's been a recent surge in interest amongst British and German buyers.
14:29Most of the properties here have more traditional character,
14:32and this one has a lot more space both inside and out.

19:51For our next property, we're heading to Paya, a bustling tourist resort just nine miles north
19:56of Paphos with 15,000 residents and loads of shops and restaurants.
20:01It's also under ten minutes in the car from one of Western Cyprus's prettiest beaches.

20:55Coming up, if it's all about the views for Karen and David, wait until they see my next
20:59property, a three-bedroom villa overlooking the glorious Cyprus coast.
21:11Today, I'm in Paphos in Western Cyprus, helping adventure-loving couple Karen and David find
21:17their perfect forever home.
21:19So far, it's going really well because they love my second property.
21:23In fact, David says it can't be beaten.
21:26They can't wait to live out the rest of their days here with their beloved dog, Flint, and
21:30have an ideal budget of £320,000.
21:34So far, my second option went down a storm.
21:38They absolutely loved the space on offer, both outside and inside, at this three-bed stone
21:43villa in Cathicas, and struggled to think of any way we could improve it.
21:48But I'm going to do my best to try, and for property three, we're heading to Peja, a thriving
21:54tourist town just north of Paphos.
21:57This is a popular spot for expats to buy in, particularly the British, and is generally
22:01one of the most sought-after places on this side of Cyprus.
22:05But I've managed to dig out a fab villa with great space and some pretty amazing views.
22:11So, now we've got for you property number three.
22:16And the one thing about Peja is so many of the properties have got amazing sea views.
22:20I can imagine.
22:21And this is no exception.
22:23Right.
22:23But this probably will be the best views I've delivered you so far.

22:28I'm looking forward to seeing that.
22:29We're looking here at a three-bedroom property that also has three bathrooms.
22:33And then you've got different sort of levels outside, with a pool.
22:38The other thing about this property, just beyond the wall here, there's a structure,
22:44which you could finish and choose to do whatever you wanted with that area.
22:48That's an interesting concept, because obviously we haven't covered that in the first two properties
22:52we've looked at.
22:52And it's being sold for just over £322,500.
22:57That sounds good.
22:58So I'm a smidge into your wiggle room.
22:59Let's get inside and see what you think.
23:03The front facade of this property doesn't give much away, but it's very spacious, as can
23:07be seen from the back, with two rear terraces overlooking the fab private pool, and with
23:13lovely views over Paphos and beyond to the sea.
23:16Then there's the terrace, too, with a built-in barbecue, which I reckon David will love.
23:21And there's also that structure to the side of the house, which is ripe for conversion.
23:27Inside, as the property is built into the hillside, it's been designed to make the most of the
23:31light, with an open-plan living and dining room up on the top floor, as well as a large
23:37kitchen.
23:38There's also one bedroom on this level, and a bathroom.
23:42Then downstairs is another bedroom currently used as a sitting room, another double bedroom
23:47with an en suite, and a family bathroom.

23:52So as we came in, we passed a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen.
23:57Living space here, dining area that is attached to the kitchen through a hatch that you've got there.

24:06Like, of course, I see a fabulous view out of, on that balcony out there.

26:16So to find somewhere less bustling, we're taking a 20-minute drive north to the traditional
26:21village of Džuja.
26:23Set at 600 metres above sea level, it has some great views and a real sense of authentic
26:28Cypriot life, with stone buildings, painted shutters and a few tavernas.
26:33It's still only a 30-minute drive to the coast, and although it's a lesser-known spot, a little
26:39birdie tells me it's somewhere these two already know.
26:42Well, this next location doesn't need any introduction to you two.

26:51And we actually stayed in the hotel over there, a little B&B.

32:55The sunshine floods into the villa's interior through panoramic windows and there's a cool contemporary design across its living, dining
33:04spaces, kitchen and bedrooms.
33:06It's on the market for almost £4 million and I'm meeting Agent Milan for a guided tour.

35:00On the way to it, there's another landmark around Paya that I'd like to check out with
35:05them, especially as they're still fairly new to this area of Paphos.
35:09It's been here since 2011 and has become a bit of a local feature.
35:15We've taken a slight deviation back into Paya because I wanted to bring you here to this
35:19really magical area with a very famous shipwreck as well.
35:24It's impressive.
35:25It's something you don't see very often, isn't it?
35:27How close can you get to an actual shipwreck?
35:30Yeah.
35:30Yeah.
35:31It was a cargo ship from Sierra Leone that, as you can see, got itself into a bit of trouble.
35:36The crew were rescued by the British military, but of course the shipwreck is still here
35:41and it's become quite a big attraction in this area.
35:43And you can also dive around the area as well.
35:47Wow.
35:47Have either of you done diving before?
35:50No, I haven't done diving, but I do snorkel.
35:52Also on the other side, if you want to do some off-roading, you could hire a buggy.
35:58And I wonder if that might be something you'd be interested in.

36:34so we are the very first people to see it.
36:37So, here we are at the fifth and final property.
