00:00It's time for me to put love into the evening.
00:02On today's show...
00:03Met the boy's wing.
00:07Thank you for coming to my night.
00:11Pure old presents.
00:15If I was to give Jason a gift, it'd be a personality transplant.
00:19Holistic healing.
00:20I'm a Reiki master.
00:22I'm not interested. I don't believe in it. It didn't go in.
00:26And risky reviews.
00:27The mutton, it's a little bit chewy.
00:29I know my meat, and I know when it's tender.
00:31Smell a moolah!
00:33As five bold Bradfordians battle to bank the big bucks.
00:37I think Achilles' crystals might not be working.
00:44It's the fourth day in Bradford,
00:46which has been named the 20th most spiritual city in the UK.
00:50And trying to push it all the way up to 19th tonight
00:53is Reiki master and holistic therapist Achilles.
00:57Tonight's theme is a fusion of both Caribbean and Indian-Pakistani flavours,
01:04and that is very much what Bradford is kind of about.
01:09It's a melting pot of different cultures.
01:11Monday saw Bank Auditor Culley try and grab the grand with an East Meets West fusion feast.
01:17Cheers, guys.
01:18Cheers, everyone.
01:19My night was great.
01:21I kept the guests entertained.
01:22The food was great.
01:23They loved the desserts.
01:25Yes, and you even bewitched them with a bit of magic.
01:28Right down in the bottom corner, one folded pound.
01:31Oh, no.
01:33No way!
01:34Woo!
01:35Woo!
01:36Woo!
01:37Tuesday saw private healthcare provider Jason
01:39get the diners dancing with some rock and roll.
01:46They were brilliant.
01:48They were really good.
01:48I'm confident that my night is the best night so far.
01:53I'm very confident.
01:54But his menu didn't jive with sales director Tom.
01:58And I just couldn't understand what the Yorkshire pudding was doing there.
02:02And for Jason, there was a distinct lack of decorum
02:04at health and well-being coach Gabby's Sardinian soiree.
02:09Oh!
02:09Last night, for me, was very taxing.
02:13I struggled with the night.
02:15Gabby gave the guests a taste of her heritage.
02:18It's a massive bump up for me.
02:21Well done.
02:22The food was amazing.
02:23And especially that she'd gone to all that effort.
02:26And there was even a lesson in the lingo.
02:28Can you roll your ass?
02:30That's what I like.
02:31Brrrr.
02:32Oh, la, la.
02:33This menu.
02:34This menu.
02:35Oh, what are you making?
02:36LAUGHTER
02:38I think my night, compared to Cully and Jason's so far,
02:42I think it's...
02:42I think it's just...
02:44I think it's tipped it a little bit.
02:46I hope it has.
02:47It certainly has.
02:49You're out in front with 32,
02:51followed by Cully on 31 and Jason on 27.
02:56The dress code, Exotic Elegance.
02:59Very, very Akilah.
03:01Very Akilah.
03:02I'm expecting Akilah's evening to be a little bit mysterious.
03:06I believe that my menu is a winning menu
03:09because my food is infused with a secret ingredient.
03:13Love.
03:14Oh, how lovely.
03:16And the first course to get some love into is dessert.
03:19Sensual soursop and mango cheesecake
03:22with homemade coconut and pistachio ice cream.
03:26I think this cheesecake will be better than Jason's cheesecake
03:29purely because she's focusing on that one element of her dessert
03:33and she'll execute it properly rather than having, you know,
03:37a whole cake shop going on.
03:38With the pistachio element to it,
03:42I think she's pipped me down.
03:45I really don't know what a sensual soursop is.
03:49I do have a feeling that I've heard of a soursop.
03:52Well, I have heard of a soursop,
03:53but I can't remember and I don't think I've ever had it.
03:56Enlightening.
03:57I don't think the group are able to put me in a box, you know.
04:00They're not able to fully define who I am
04:03and that is why I am an enigma.
04:06The enigmatic Achille gets to work on her ice cream,
04:10mixing condensed coconut milk,
04:12double cream and more coconut milk.
04:16You want to get most of the cream in
04:18because that's what's going to make it very creamy.
04:20Makes sense.
04:21Vanilla flavouring and desiccated coconut are added.
04:24Smell that. It smells like Caribbean success.
04:27And the secret ingredient to that success...
04:29So now I'm just going to add a teaspoon of Celtic salt.
04:34Celtic salt?
04:35This is organic and natural, straight from the Celtic sea.
04:41Achille decants the salty Celtic coconut ice cream into a tub
04:45and it goes into freeze.
04:48Cheesecake time.
04:50Soursop cheesecake is my own creation.
04:54I've never heard of it before until I started doing it.
04:57And then, I don't know, it just appeared.
05:00Spooky.
05:01Achille starts by taking out her anger on the biscuits.
05:06Butter, oats and biscuit dust are stirred together.
05:10Everything I do, I do it with love
05:12and the guests will undoubtedly be able to taste that tonight.
05:16Now for the filling.
05:17Some clumps of cream cheese,
05:19followed by condensed milk and a splash of vanilla.
05:22The sensual soursop is called sensual
05:24because the soursop is very good for the reproductive system
05:28of both male and female.
05:29Well, that may be so,
05:31but you wouldn't think it to look at it.
05:32Whoa!
05:38The biscuit base gets a blanket of soursop creaminess.
05:42Spread that out.
05:44What's that mean?
05:45Then it chills out in the fridge.
05:49On to the main,
05:50roti with curried mutton, rice and seasonal veg.
05:55I've had curried mutton before
05:57and if it's done right, it will be absolutely beautiful.
06:02It should just be melting and falling apart.
06:04I'm hoping that she's made the roti herself
06:08rather than store-bought.
06:10She's certainly giving it a go.
06:11Also, a flutter of flour,
06:15a dash of salt and yeast
06:18and a splodge of ghee.
06:21It has to be very moist, flaky.
06:26It's like it's got layers to it.
06:29A splash of curried water
06:31and Akili gives the dough a beating.
06:34Yeah, I think I'm done.
06:37She slaps them into solitary servings.
06:39Ah, I'm chuffed with that.
06:42And they're ready to be rolled this evening.
06:45Akili has been marinating her meat
06:47and it's now ready to have the heat.
06:50So there's a lot of spice flavour,
06:54savoury stuff going on,
06:55but there's also my essence,
06:56which I have implemented with my hands.
07:01Essence implemented.
07:02In goes some onions, herbs and seasoning.
07:05The best curried mutton
07:07that you can get in the Caribbean
07:08is at somebody's funeral or nine-night.
07:11But there will be no funerals tonight.
07:15I promise you that.
07:17Well, touch wood.
07:18That's reassuring.
07:20A few spots go in for a soak.
07:23Secret ingredient?
07:25Yum.
07:26Ketchup.
07:27The curry is left to simmer
07:29and Akili will cook rice and veg later this evening.
07:33On to the starter.
07:35Jamaicanamese, saltfish frikora,
07:37smashed fried plantain,
07:39okra fries and a mango scotch bonnet dip.
07:42Smashed fried plantain.
07:45Never had that before.
07:46Not sure what it is.
07:48I think fish eat it when they're swimming around
07:49and they open their mouths wide.
07:51Plantain, not plankton!
07:53I do think that with the starter Akili's gone for,
07:57yes, it's a meze,
07:58but I think there's more items and elements on this starter
08:01that she's actually going to have to cook than Gabby did.
08:04We get that lovely fishy aroma.
08:07Is it lovely, though?
08:09Gorgeous.
08:10I'll take your word for it.
08:12First, the saltfish is rehydrated.
08:15Akili breaks the fish up,
08:16then slings in some bell pepper and graham flour.
08:21Now I mix this perfectly,
08:23I'm going to cover it and put it in the fridge to chill.
08:25It's into the fridge and will be deep-fried this evening.
08:32Finally, Akili preps her okra and plantain,
08:34which will be cooked later tonight.
08:36So now it's time for me to put love into the evening.
08:39Don't let me go
08:44Don't let me go
08:45Love it. Perfect.
08:48Just time for a quick change
08:49while your guests ponder the night ahead.
08:52It potentially could be a winning menu, yeah.
08:54For me, it would be something that I would choose
08:57if I was in, like, a Caribbean restaurant.
09:00I love all of those things.
09:02I'm expecting something really flamboyant and extravagant.
09:08Tonight, it's time to bring some exotic elegance to Bradford.
09:12Funny you should say that.
09:14Look at Jason!
09:19Hi, honey!
09:20What's up, Nick?
09:22Oh, lovely to see you, babe.
09:23And you?
09:24I did a garnish of edible 24-carat gold.
09:28Whoa.
09:29Yeah, because you are totally worth it, my love.
09:31Oh, sweetheart.
09:32Next up in exotic animal print is Gabby.
09:37Hello!
09:38Good evening!
09:40How are you, pal?
09:40I'm good.
09:41How are you?
09:42I'm good, thank you.
09:43Oh, look at that!
09:44Yeah, this is a bit posh, isn't it?
09:45Here's Tom, an exotic hippie.
09:49Hi!
09:50Good evening!
09:52Oh, my God!
09:53How are you?
09:53Nice to see you.
09:54This is an exotic cocktail for you, a rum cocktail with 24-carat gold, because you are worth it, my
10:01darling.
10:03I thought that line was just for me.
10:06And finally, someone who meets the brief, the exotic and elegant Cully.
10:11Cully!
10:12Cully!
10:13Hey!
10:13Look at you!
10:14Look at you!
10:15What are you?
10:15Look who's here!
10:16Hello!
10:17Hey!
10:18You look like royalty.
10:20Oh, thank you.
10:21I loved the dress code.
10:23Variety is a spice of life.
10:25Oh, it certainly is.
10:26That's exactly what we are.
10:27We are a beautiful variety.
10:29A spicy mix.
10:30A spicy mix.
10:32Cheers to that!
10:33Cheers!
10:34Cheers!
10:35Coming up...
10:36I'm telling you why I know my meat, and I know when it's tender.
10:39Unpleasant putts.
10:40I don't think there was enough biscuit.
10:42I thought the dessert was awful.
10:45And supernatural stories.
10:47Were you scared?
10:48Yeah, I was.
10:49Are you just making up my story just for a chat?
10:51Yeah, not a fan of this, Jason.
10:59It's the fourth night in Bradford.
11:01Cheers!
11:02Cheers!
11:04Where holistic therapist Akili is hoping her love-filled fusion feast
11:08will help her pluck the £1,000 prize.
11:11We need to comment on Akili's dress.
11:13Oh, she looks stunning today.
11:15Oh, thank you.
11:16Absolutely.
11:16Loving the hot pink.
11:18Oh, thank you.
11:19Met the boy's wing.
11:22In the kitchen, Akili attacks her starter,
11:26pummeling her plantain.
11:27Why is it that colour?
11:29It's just like that in the middle.
11:30Despite its less than impressive pallor,
11:33the plantain gets potted.
11:35The okra fries,
11:36and then the procura have a fizz.
11:38These are looking really good.
11:40They're looking nice and golden brown,
11:42just how I like them.
11:43What's the verdict?
11:44Perfect, that.
11:48Looks a bit hot.
11:51Good, though.
11:53I'm going to take that as a yes.
11:55The fried food is arranged on the plate.
11:58And it's good to go.
12:00Jamaicanamese, salt fish for Cora,
12:02and smashed fried plantain with okra fries
12:05and a mango scotch bonnet dip.
12:12You're welcome.
12:13Dig in.
12:14Hey.
12:15Hey.
12:15Just before you do tuck in.
12:17Yeah.
12:17I know it's not Tom's night.
12:20Mm-hm.
12:20But I have got Tom a little bit of gift before we start,
12:23if nobody's got any objections.
12:25No.
12:25There we are.
12:26Got Tom in it.
12:27Intriguing.
12:28That's for you.
12:30I feel honoured.
12:31Let's have a look.
12:32So intrigued.
12:37Did you notice I had a little spill last night?
12:40I did indeed.
12:42So what did I think to Jason's gift?
12:44Erm, I don't know.
12:45Pretty much what I think to Jason.
12:48Ouch!
12:49He laughed.
12:50But I don't think he found it funny.
12:52I think because the other people around the table were laughing.
12:55I think he was like a sheep.
12:57He was following the flock.
12:58Double ouch!
12:59If I was to give Jason a gift,
13:02it'd be a personality transplant.
13:04Oh, it's a hat trick!
13:12I love the salt fish.
13:14Fracoras.
13:15Yeah, yeah.
13:15It's like a fripper and a bricora or a bricora, yeah.
13:17Yeah.
13:18Never heard that before.
13:19Yeah.
13:19Is that something you've made up?
13:21Yes!
13:21Is it?
13:22I love that!
13:24I loved the salt fish.
13:26Really loved that.
13:27The okra was...
13:29It was OK.
13:30But it could have...
13:31It's going to be deep-fried.
13:33It should have been crispier and a bit more punchy.
13:36I'm really enjoying the fish.
13:38Balls, as you put it.
13:41I'm not keen on this unripen bit of the dish.
13:47I liked the fish, the salt fish pakora.
13:51That was really nice, but that was it.
13:54There was nothing else there for me.
13:56Oh, hell.
13:57Maybe Akili can offer you some enlightenment instead.
14:00So, I'm a holistic therapist.
14:01Oh, amazing!
14:02I'm a Reiki master.
14:04Oh!
14:04Please excuse my naivety, but what's Reiki?
14:08So, Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing.
14:11If you think of a circuit board, if there's a blockage or an opening, it's not...
14:16The light's not going to come on.
14:18The circuit is incomplete if there's a blockage.
14:20I asked for an explanation of what Reiki is and I'm still none the wiser.
14:24I don't believe in it.
14:25It didn't go in.
14:26What kind of people would come to you then?
14:28Because circuit boards, if there's a blockage in a body, for me, is you're going under the scalp and we're
14:33going to remove it.
14:34Of course, if you've got a very serious health condition, you can't expect something like Reiki to, you know, heal
14:42that ailment.
14:42Right.
14:43I got the feeling that Jason was playing a little bit of a game and I felt like he was
14:47trying to create a little bit of tension tonight.
14:49I can feel you're a bit of a sceptic, Jason. Maybe one day I'll be able to, not convert you,
14:54but make you feel a little bit more comfortable that it's not all like woo-woo crazy.
14:59Jason could use an awful lot of holistic healing.
15:02I think he could really do with spending the day in the spa and really just having a little chat
15:06with himself about how he maybe comes across to others.
15:10How's Akili feeling after that grilling from non-believer Jason?
15:13I'm actually feeling a lot more confident now because, I'm not going to lie, I was like a bag of
15:17nerves.
15:18Three sheets between the window or up here, down everywhere.
15:21But now we're going to be smooth sailing and I am on the ball.
15:25On to the main. First up, the roti gets a good rolling.
15:29The door feels so light now. I'm really airy.
15:32Please, the roti gods be on my side.
15:35It meets the heat and Akili seems encouraged.
15:39When the bubbles start to come up, that is a really good sign.
15:43You've got a really flaky roti and it's going to be very moist and bang on.
15:48She lovingly ladles out her curry.
15:51It's me with a bit of sauce.
15:52Boom.
15:53I think I've done a good job, you know, I swear down.
15:56Let's get the party going tonight.
15:59Right on.
16:00Here's the main roti with curried mutton, rice and veg.
16:06Oh, amazing.
16:08You're welcome.
16:10Tuck in, guys. Enjoy.
16:19For me, some of the mutton, it's a little bit chewy.
16:23I've cooked it for four hours straight.
16:25I'm telling you I know my meat and I know when it's tender.
16:27Watch out, Jason.
16:28I'm guessing I've been lucky because mine's all tender all the way through.
16:33Yeah.
16:33Every single piece.
16:35So that's lovely.
16:36I was married to an Afghani, actually, and his mum taught me so much about,
16:41you know, Afghani and Asian food.
16:44Mmm.
16:44And beautiful and really I hold that close to my heart.
16:49When you see the travel bloggers, actually, and a lot of them,
16:52when they go round Afghanistan, they say it's one of the most hospitable
16:55countries in the world.
16:57Like, Tom, is there anywhere where you've not been?
16:59I can tell you I've not been to Afghanistan.
17:01That was definitely a travel blog.
17:03Yeah.
17:03Of course I've not been to Afghanistan, as I said at the table.
17:06Don't typically tend to travel to war zones.
17:08Tom was, er, Tom started to talk about his travels,
17:11but I quickly turned round and clipped his wings,
17:14which, thankfully, silenced him for the most of the night.
17:17But, like, throughout my life, my intuition has really kind of kept me on track.
17:21I consider, like, all of us spiritual people are all spiritual beings,
17:25whether we want to acknowledge that or not.
17:28Do you believe in ghosts?
17:29I do believe there are other energies.
17:31I've seen a ghost, but nobody believes me.
17:34It was about four o'clock in the morning,
17:36so I got out of bed, gone to the ensuite, opened the door,
17:42and it's no good of it.
17:44Were you scared?
17:44Yeah, I was, because I saw somebody walk into that bathroom
17:48that really made me think, actually, I do believe in ghosts.
17:52Are you just making up the story just for a chat around the table?
17:56No.
17:58Jason is showing a different side to him today,
18:02which we haven't seen all week.
18:03I'm not a fan of this Jason.
18:05I think Cully started to tell us about this presence,
18:09just to make general chit-chat and conversation around the table,
18:14to try and impress Akilah,
18:16but, actually, I don't think it impressed anybody.
18:18Jason has given me his, like, school bully energy,
18:22and I'm not kind of digging it.
18:24Time to find some more positive energy at the table.
18:27These are my crystal and resin pyramids that a dear friend made for me.
18:32This middle one is really good for, like, calming the energy,
18:35bringing in intuition and a bit of love, so it's got...
18:41I think Akilah's crystals might not be working.
18:44Yeah, it looks good.
18:45Yeah, really nice.
18:46I don't think the crystals did much work today for calming energy.
18:51It's like being nice, like, tables and a piece, you know,
18:54just to amplify all our beautiful energies together and, you know...
18:58Yeah.
18:59Some nice healing crystals. Mm-hm, yeah.
19:02I think those crystals might be due a service.
19:04The main went really well. Overall, everybody enjoyed it.
19:07I had a few, like, criticisms, but I understand.
19:10However, I would like to say that I think Jason's jealous of me.
19:14Maybe some cheesecake will sweeten him up.
19:16I don't want to make that big one now.
19:18Pud is plonked, sauce, squirted.
19:22Time for the final round. It's going to be the knockout.
19:27And it's good to go.
19:28Sensual soursop and mango cheesecake with homemade coconut
19:32and pistachio ice cream.
19:33Thank you very much. Thank you.
19:38Enjoy. Thank you. Thank you.
19:46It tastes really nice. Oh, I'm glad you like it.
19:50The ice cream was lovely.
19:53I could taste the pistachio, I could taste the coconut,
19:56but mine was definitely better.
20:02I thought the dessert was awful.
20:05And I hate to say it, but it really wasn't good.
20:08I don't think there was enough biscuit on the base.
20:11It's not hit home for me at all.
20:13Jason said it was a bit too sour, a bit too tart.
20:16I think he was talking about himself.
20:18So, when I was 12, I won a rap poetry, like a spoken word competition
20:22here in Bradford, it was.
20:24And I got to perform on stage with Benjamin Zephaniah
20:27at St George's Hall and performed, like, my own poem.
20:30And he put my poem in his book, which got published, you know?
20:33Oh, wow! That's cool.
20:35Yeah.
20:35Well, not only am I a poet, but I wrote a song as well.
20:38Excuse me, it's totally a cappella.
20:40Sorry for making you cringe and your toes curl.
20:45Thank you for coming to my night.
20:49Yeah.
20:50And it's been right for you all to see the ball of what I do.
20:56For you and me.
21:00And come dine with we.
21:05Yeah, you nailed that.
21:08And on that note, scores, please.
21:11So, tonight, I've had a really fun evening getting to know
21:13Keely a lot more and finding out a lot more about her passions,
21:16hobbies and talents.
21:16The food wasn't quite there on some occasions, but overall,
21:21I would say that it's definitely worth a seven.
21:24The dessert was really lacking in flavours
21:27and the hosting could have done with a little bit more.
21:30So, for me, I'm scoring a Keely a five.
21:34So, tonight, we saw much more of a Keely, the true a Keely,
21:38but her food just was not up to scratch.
21:41So, I'm giving her a five.
21:44The vibe today wasn't as fun as the other three nights,
21:48and for that, I'm giving a Keely a six.
21:52All of which, unfortunately, gives a Keely a total of 23,
21:57leaving her out for the count in last place.
22:01Next time.
22:02Hopefully, this will be on the deep around the table tonight.
22:06Tantalising techniques.
22:07And it's all in the wrist action.
22:10Dumbfounded diners.
22:12I don't know what the word would be, but even now,
22:14it's, like, wrecking me.
22:16And harassed hosts.
22:17It was completely unjustified.
22:19And he knows it's unjustified.
22:21They say that life is a circle.
22:24A circle.
22:26A circle.
22:26But that ain't the way that I found it.
22:30Gonna move in a straight line.
22:33Woo!
22:34Keeping my feet.
22:36Put me on the ground.
22:37I hit up.
22:39Hit up.
22:39The cool down.
22:40The cool down.
22:41I got words in my head, so I say them.
22:45Don't let life get me down.
22:51I see.
22:51Angie!
