Hillary Clinton told a congressional panel she "had no idea" about Jeffrey Epstein's crimes, as she called for lawmakers to question President Donald Trump under oath about his past association with the late Sex offender. "I want to see the truth come out," the ex-US secretary of state said after testifying behind closed doors for hours to a congressional committee investigating Epstein. Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will testify on Friday. The couple resisted the panel's subpoena, dismissing it as politically motivated, before agreeing to testify as potential contempt-of-Congress proceedings loomed against them. The Clintons and Trump deny wrongdoing in relation to Epstein

00:00I never met Jeffrey Epstein, never had any connection or communication with him.
00:07I knew Ghislaine Maxwell casually as an acquaintance.
00:13No Republican member asked any questions about Jeffrey Epstein or
00:20Ghislaine Maxwell to anyone else they have deposed.
00:25Well, I have just finished testifying.
00:28I answered every one of their questions as fully as I could based on what I knew.
00:38And what I knew is what I said in my statement this morning.
00:43I never met Jeffrey Epstein, never had any connection or communication with him.
00:50I knew Ghislaine Maxwell casually as an acquaintance.
00:55But whatever they asked me, I did my very best to respond.
01:03It was disappointing that they refused to hold a public hearing.
01:09So I wouldn't have to be out here characterizing it for you.
01:12You could have seen it for yourself.
01:15We had asked for that.
01:17We think it would have been better for the committee and its efforts to gather whatever information they are seeking.
01:26We had a bit of a challenge in the beginning because we had agreed upon rules based on the fact
01:35it was going to
01:35be a closed hearing at their demand and one of the members violated that rule which was very upsetting because
01:46it suggested that they might violate other of our agreements.
01:52So we had to cease the hearing for a period of time until we could get assurances that no rules
02:01would be broken going forward.
02:04And we returned to answer questions repetitively, literally over and over again.
02:11I don't know how many times I had to say I did not know Jeffrey Epstein.
02:15I never went to his island.
02:18I never went to his home.
02:20I never went to his offices.
02:21So it's on the record numerous times.
02:26It then got, at the end, quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs and a series of questions
02:37about Pizzagate,
02:39one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the internet
02:47that was serving as the basis of a member's questions to me.
02:52So I can only say that the best exchange that I had came at the very end,
03:02when contrary to every other deposition they have taken,
03:10no Republican member asked any questions about Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell to anyone else they have deposed.
03:23And in fact, the Republican members didn't even show up for the deposition of Les Wexner.
03:30And when I said that, I had to point out that the only questions that any Republican member asked,
03:41of any of the people they deposed, was of former Attorney General Bill Barr,
03:49when Chairman Comer asked him about the allegations, in his view, about Russia's involvement in my election in 2016.
04:05So at the very end of this hearing, after I made that point,
04:10I want to commend Chairman Comer for raising a series of significant questions that I responded to
04:22about the nature of the investigation and the areas that I thought should be explored.
04:29So I appreciated that.
04:31I want to see the truth come out.
04:36So that was a reassuring way to end a very long, repetitive deposition.
04:45Secretary! Secretary! Secretary! Secretary!
04:47You spoke in your opening remarks about how heartbroken you have been for the Epstein survivors
04:53as these files have come out.
04:55Can you talk to us a little bit about how you have processed and reacted to the fact
04:59that the former President, your husband, Bill Clinton,
05:01is referenced in the Epstein files numerous times, including in some photos featuring women?
05:07And how have you been personally preparing for the deposition that is coming tomorrow?
05:11Are you 100% confident that there isn't anything that the former President knows about Epstein's crimes?
05:18I am, and I think the chronology of the connection that he had with Epstein
05:27ended years, several years, before anything about Epstein's criminal activities came to light
05:35and that he was charged and sadly given a sweetheart deal, which as I said in my statement,
05:42had that not happened, perhaps his predatory behavior could have been stopped earlier.
05:48But I think it is fair to say that the vast majority of people who had contact with him
05:54before his criminal pleas in 08 were like most people.
06:03They did not know what he was doing.
06:06And I think that that is exactly what my husband will testify to tomorrow.
06:12Madam Secretary, do you believe this was a fair hearing?
06:22And do you still want to testify publicly even though you viewed this deposition?
06:26Well, I'm not going to do it again.
06:29You know, they had a chance to do it in public and I wish they had done it in public.
06:33And I think they're making the wrong decision avoiding doing it in public.
06:41I thought it was very repetitive.
06:43I thought that they asked literally the same questions over and over again,
06:51which didn't seem to me to be very productive.
06:54And then as I said toward the end, you know, there were other questions that were totally off subject.
07:02So if they are going to fulfill their responsibilities to literally investigate the investigations,
07:09which is what they originally said was the scope of their work,
07:14I think they could have spent the day more productively.
07:18Madam Secretary, what was your reaction to the President Secretary?
07:22Madam Secretary.
07:25Can I ask, why was Colleen Maxwell invited to the Dr. Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2003?
07:33She'd already been mentioned in a civil lawsuit by Virginia G3 before that.
07:38Jeffrey Epstein had already been mentioned before that.
07:42She came as the first one, the guest of someone who was invited.
07:47Madam Secretary, can you tell us your reaction to the President Trump was not calling her?
07:53What message does it say that President Trump was not calling her?
07:55I don't know when the video will be out.
07:57I don't know when the transcript will be out.
07:59We've asked that they be out as quickly as possible and then you can see everything.
08:03Madam Secretary, what was your reaction to the President Trump was in the hot tub?
