00:00Two things. Take care of the football, and we have to become a more explosive football team on first and
00:05second down.
00:05That's the main takeaways.
00:09And, you know, taking care of the football is always something that, you know, there's a delicate balance there
00:15because we always want to approach offensive football from an attacking mindset.
00:19And so if the first thing you talk about in offensive football is don't turn the ball over,
00:23well, that's a defensive mindset.
00:26That's a what are we going to do to make sure we don't screw this up?
00:29And that's not how we want to play football.
00:31So we talk about taking care of the football from a decision-making, processing, technique,
00:37all the positive things that you can actually go do and put into action
00:41that make sure that we are not putting the team in a bad place.
00:45And we just weren't good enough at that this year.
00:47We were 28th in the league, I believe.
00:48And to add on top of that how many of those resulted directly in points for our opponents, you know,
00:55was a critical error and reason why probably we lost a couple football games.
01:00So something that, you know, when we regroup with the guys,
01:03we'll make sure we're focusing on all those positive things that we can act on to make sure it doesn't
01:08happen again.
01:08Because traditionally that's not really an area that we've, you know, where we've suffered.
01:13And then, you know, the explosive play thing.
01:16I mean, we have explosive football players.
01:18We've really crafted this offense and we play in a way that accomplishes many of the goals that we want
01:25to accomplish
01:25because we were really good in a lot of areas.
01:28But that's one area given the people we have and our goals as a team where we need to get
01:33better.
01:34And we can and we will.
01:36There are some league trends that have just, I think, reduced explosive plays overall in terms of more too high
01:43defense
01:43and the resources that teams devote to preventing the big passing plays.
01:49I think those things happen to us probably as much or more than anybody in the league,
01:54although it's league-wide now.
01:57You know, we've chosen to approach different phases of our offense
02:01in a way that maybe emphasizes efficiency over high risk, high reward.
02:08And so that's something that we constantly have to evaluate.
02:10Are we at the right part of that spectrum?
02:13Do we need to push the envelope a little bit more?
02:16Do we need to take on a little bit more risk, whether that be in the run game
02:19or whether that be in the normal down play-action game?
02:22So those are all things that we think about and, you know, that we balance
02:26because everything you choose to do, there's an equal and opposite reaction.
02:30So it's not like you can just press a button and all of a sudden, well, okay, we're going to
02:34be better at this.
02:35Well, you have to then be willing to take on the risk that comes with that.
02:38And you have to be willing to devote the time to get good at those things.
02:44And so those are, you know, those are all the things, the discussions that we have as a staff.
02:48We're very introspective.
02:50Nothing we do is haphazard or by accident.
02:52And so we'll take that approach this offseason and, you know, put together what we're going to look like next
02:58year.
