00:00Is Joe Burrow clutch?
00:02It shouldn't be discussed for three straight days now.
00:05How are we still, how are we doing this?
00:07I think there is, until you have moments where you have more of the walk-off and stuff like that,
00:17everyone's going to have recency bias over what happened on Sunday,
00:19then we're going to talk about it.
00:21And there's been moments where he hasn't been, this team has not been able to finish,
00:24and they've asked him to do a lot in the process.
00:27But is Joe Burrow clutch? My favorite stat that I use,
00:31I think games are decided on third and fourth downs in the red zone.
00:35They're the most high-leverage plays in every single game.
00:38And Joe Burrow has been amongst the best at this of anybody in the NFL since he's been in the
00:43league.
00:43If you go back to 2022, last five seasons, he's second in the league in success rate on red zone,
00:50third and fourth downs.
00:51These are the plays that decide games.
00:53They are the most high leverage, and when you need it, Joe gives it to you.
00:56I will take that over 1-34.
01:00Are we still doing the 1-34 thing?
01:02Just to be clear, nobody here is doing the 1-34.
01:05Wow, good for you. Way to rise above.
01:07It's the most ridiculous thing ever.
01:09He has 34 losses, by the way.
01:11Yes.
01:12So 1-34 is wild when you're just mentioning his losses.
01:15Right, exactly.
01:16But the point being is, I think there is reality to what this team is doing to finish games.
01:21I think it's why it was a big topic of discussion this offseason, having better finishers.
01:26That was not just a defensive discussion.
01:28They need to be better at finishing games.
01:30That does not mean it is a direct Joe Burrow problem.
01:33You would love to see a few more times where this team finished better, and Joe has had times where
01:39it hasn't gone well in those spots.
01:40A lot of quarterbacks do.
01:41But I'm not going to play the clutch gene stuff with Joe Burrow because, again, I hold a lot of
01:47weight to the most high leverage moments in every game, and he's always been great at those.
01:50Yeah, I think bad football teams find ways to not close out games, even though their quarterback plays.
01:55That's it.
01:56Has he been good enough to overcome them being bad over the past few years at times?
02:01No.
02:01And yet on Sunday he made one mistake.
02:04I thought he was one of the better games I've seen him play.
02:07You're flawless.
02:08Until the fumble.
02:09Yeah.
02:10And when he converts multiple fourth downs, big plays, including a touchdown to Mike Kosicki, both plays are 20-plus
02:16yards.
02:17Those are clutch plays to me.
02:18Yes.
02:19So, like, I don't think it's all he had the last five plays are the only time you can be
02:23clutch as a quarterback.
